I still won't be getting it. It honestly baffles me why a western games company making games with a realistic graphical style and which are played predominantly by westerners, would pick one of the most popular characters from one of their most popular games, and purposefully give the character over to a company which specialises in an eastern style, and a highly sexualized style to boot. Judging by the backlash over this thing, there isn't as much love for anime in the Bioware fanbase as they must have initially assumed.

... Which, honestly, comes as a big relief. Personally.

Thankfully Casey said they were going to do another Liara figurine later which would look more realistic so those of us who like Liara but don't want anime style Liara can get a proper looking one as well.

That would be a statue I would buy too.  One that actually looks like Liara.

Liara: Have you seen? Lizardviking is almost done with the first chapter!
Shep: Took him long enough.

Completely shameless self-advertising. But damn I feel like celebrating! [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie]

At least you're writing. I seem to be stuck in neutral and going no place.

Don't give up on it, just give it some time.

Because they thought it would make them money. That's how capitalism works.

Finished statue is actually okay. Not a fan of the pose. The gun mysteriously sticking to her waist also bugs me.

I should go back to the vacation story instead of trying to finish up what I cut from it.  I was trying to make that one an one-shot, but I can't get a good segue scene to move it forward.

If you have noticed, Shepard puts both the pistol and SMG on the same side and one disappears.  I find that more odd than hanging off the side.  How do the weapons on the back stay there?  Same concept.

I don't think that is what they were going for.

I noticed that while playing Adept. It's weird.

They are attached magnetically. This made sense in ME1 because your entire squad wore hardsuits. Most of the ME2 squad doesn't, however.

I think it's just the same thing like in 99% of other shooter games. Characters can carry multiple weapons but they never have any holsters or weapon slings to actually carry them, the weapons are just somehow in their back or then they disappear when you don't use that weapon.

But if you think why they stay there in their backs and hips, maybe there are some kind of sockets where the weapons attach. Or then it could be like you said, that they're magnetically attached. Like that there is some sort of electromagnet, which is activated when you "turn off" your weapon and then again it deactivates when you "turn on" your weapon. So at the same moment you grab that weapon the electromagnet turns off and the weapon is no longer attached to your armor. If the whole electromagnetic system is built inside those weapons only thing they need, is some sort of metallic plate in their armor. So I think you could fit a tiny piece of metal even into Miranda's catsuit. But the only problem with that is that basicly any metallic object (excluding aluminium + other non-magnetic metals ofc) that comes close enough should stuck on those guns...

What I'm interested in more is thermal clips. Because Shepard seems just to remove the used thermal clip but I've never seen him/her inserting a new one. And where does Shepard carry all those thermal clips, yeah I know they're very small but still the normal N7 armor with no upgrades piecies has no ammo pouches. And same goes for other character too, they don't have ammo pouches either.

That looks good. I like that she wears a casual cloth version of her LOTSB armor.

Not bad though that pose and facial expression would suit Aria a lot more imo.

Say. I wonder if Aethyta had raised Liara instead of Benezia, would Liara have a more Renegade disposition?

That question makes me wonder if we would have met Liara at all.  Would she even taken the same path, studying the Protheans?

Liara might be a little more renegadish, but I really don't see Aethyta that way either.

Well, the reason we met Liara was because she was Benezia's daughter, and if she had been raised by Aethyta she'd still be Benezia's daughter.

We would have probably still met here, but she'd probably have been a commando or commando in training when we recruited her.

Liara certainly wouldn't be in a merc band or stripping in a bar. Aethyta seems to hate it that young Asari don't do something usefull early in their lives. While Aethyta is more violent than Benezia, I don't see Aethyta raising Liara to become a commando. Instead I think she would've rejoiced over Liara's decision to start researching the Protheans at the very young age of 50 - 56, probably supporting Liara all the way.

Agreed. I think that Aethyta really loves Liara's uncommon-for-her-age focus.

Would she for certain be a commando? Couldn't she still be a scientist? Perhaps slightly more foul-mouthed and ill-tempered? ^_^

And alot less "Oh-I-feel-like-I-am-going-to-faint".

The bartender says that she had ideas that were not accepted and as a result she left and is now bartending?

Liara was also not taken seriously but instead of giving up like the bartender she was still following her passion.

In that respect she has her mother's strength of character. But I am biased at this stage.
I'm still hoping that the bartender is not Benezia's past partner ... yeh, I know. She probably will be. Posted Image

Oh well. You can't always have it your way. And keeping my fingers crossed that in ME3, if she is, they will show other things about her that make me start to like her. Possible, always possible.

If not ... Poor E.W. when Liara invites Aethyta to their holiday meals.

Shepard: Does she even like turkey?
Liara: Yes
Shepard: Do we even have enough seats? You know Tali is bringing a friend and ...
Liara: Shepard, Aethyta is coming to the dinner and you will spend time with her.
Shepard: *pouts*
Liara: *wraps her arms around Shepard* I promise I'll make it up to you later.
Shepard: Why not right now? Posted Image

Liara: Shepard! *pulls Shepard's hands up from her behind*

Shepard: What?

Liara: *giggles* Behave yourself.
Shepard: Fine.  *slowly lowers hands again* Posted Image
