LOSB did bring some of the romance and
old liara back but when I whent into LOBS in my mind I was helping her
to resolve her issues so that she could move on and maybe heal but when
she too up the mantel of the SB and the scene unfolded before me I was
like "No don't do it move on let it go" she has to much power now and
that could only corrupt her more.

I'm not have a go it's just
what i thought as I played the game she is still my fav companion and my
main LI in the ME world it's just that the way she changed and that she
became the SB never sat right with me. Sorry if I've upset anyone that
was not my intent but I say it as I see it is all

Why
are you so against her being the SB? She did not do it for the power.
She did it so she could help Shepard in his fight against the Reapers.
And becoming the SB was the best way to do that. beside the SB network
is too much of a tactical asset to pass by.

all good points and I see the  necessity  of it but that dose not mean I have to like it have you herd power corrupts she may not want the power but she has it and will have to delve into the SB world in order to keep up the pretence. and the road to hell is paved with good intensons

That's why I'm counting on Cerberus to take that base out during ME3. And if they don't do it, Shepard will do it himself after Liara is gone from there of course. And about power corrupting Liara, we'll have to see about that. Though I don't think even Liara is immune to that sort of corruption for long. All the more reason why I think that place has to go eventually. In a few 100 years she'll turn into Evil Liara. Just imagine Liara spending the remaining ~900 years of her life there.

Edit: Christrek, what exactly do you mean with your banner on the right side? "Merrill's scarf for LI". I'm assuming you think she looks better with the scarf (to which I agree btw). If not.. the other thing I can think of is slightly disturbing.

the tha scarf thing is something to do with a coment that one of the devs saeid about Merrill I think to be honest I dont realy remember.

and SB base needs to go I can't see liara giving it up of her own free will and if she stayed I could see her becomeing her mother.

I think it depends on, if the Reapers cut of the flow of information when they attack.
I would do that as an invading alien force. :alien:

Hoping that Liara will keep her LotSB look =) she was wonderful in that dlc. She is always cute but I really liked her in that one.

As I understand it before her mother was indoctrinated she was a good person, highly respected, even joining Saren was for the greater good. You can hardly blame her for Soverign, and I can't see how Liara would go the same way.

To be honest, so long as she has people around her as the SB (Shep, Feron) she should be fine, it's only after they both die that she's likely to change. I can't see her making any new friends as the broker, so if she ends up alone she'll probably stay alone, which is when she's in danger of changing.

I'm not big on "protecting people from themselves" though, if she wants to remain the shadow broker then I'd let her. Even if I were to try and talk her out of it, I certainly wouldn't go behind her back to get my way.

Seems hard to find a decent Leliana picture... Well a DA2 picture anyway.
No shortage of good Liara pictures though :wizard:

Erm,  I'm sorry.  I'm a big fan of both Liara and Leliana...  it's just her mouth in both games is really quite strange.  Leliana that is.

oh another thing do you think Liara will find out who her father is in ME3?

BioWare stated they were "Well aware of the Liara/Aethyta subplot and are thinking about how to resolve it". So I'd say yes. However I don't think we'll be going too deeply into it since we don't really have time for it. If however every squadmember has some sort of personal quest (and judging from past BioWare games, they will) then I'm pretty sure Liara's will be about finding Aethyta.

Maybe that is the reason we go to Illium.  I keep wondering who or what is there Shepard needs to do.

Agreed. I was going to post something like this to the debate about her getting more evil while being the SB. But got caught in a game of BF:BC2 ^_^

As long as Liara got people to talk to (in person that is). Then Liara can as she says herself "stay honest". It is only if she isolate herself onboard the base for a long time that she might turn into a creepy loner who just gather information about everyone in the galaxy all day. But to be fair that will happen to almost person should they be isolated for enough time.

The concern from others about the possibility of the "power" that comes with being the shadow broker is valid. Even Liara sees the potential of danger and says that using the position to help Shepard defeat the reapers will keep her somewhat on the straight & narrow.

One thing that my Shepard recognizes is that Liara cannot be made to do anything. She has always displayed a mind of her own and to try and stop her is nearly impossible. In fact, I can't really think of a time that Shepard does pull her in a different direction to be honest. I'll have to think on that one.

Her focus is so strong that she leaves Shepard face down on concrete while she chases Vasir ... a scene that still makes me laugh and get pissed at the same time. The first time that I played the DLC I shouted "What? Can't you check on me (Shepard)? I just fell out a window!" To then hear Shepard make the "I'm fine" comment I must have laughed for 5 minutes. It was as if the game heard me. That was priceless!

Shepard calls her out on it later too.  I forget which interrupt.  I'm thinking the first one.   First time I played the DLC, I was like, ah, Shepard/Liara is having their first tiff.  Both were snippy with each other at times.  It seem to start after the fall  and the I'm fine comment.  I played as a femShep and she didn't sound too pleased at Liara at that moment. Or during a few comments later on the baclony after defeating Vasir.

What about the fact that Liara just saved Shepard's ass from Vasir and started to give chase becuase Vasir was now running away with intel vital to the mission at hand. That said i still ahve Shepard confront her about it. But that is to make sure she has not lost herself in her hunt for the shadow broker.

The dialogue where she says something like "I knew you were fine" scene? Loved that one too because from their first encounter they have butted heads .. in my game. My Shepard scolded her for touching "things you don't understand" to start Posted Image. I love it when there is a push and shove in relationships.

I always thought her later in the game shouting out "cover your eyes!", "watch the asari", etc. was her trying to make up for the leaving your butt on the pavement. Next scene was her blowing in Shepards cup of coffee to ensure that she didn't get burned. Posted Image

I never thought of that.  Makes sense.  I thought this interaction was great too.  When Shepard is asking Liara is she tested the shunt program she put on the door.  "But you tested it right?"  Liara response is "No time to talk."

I really do hope that is the type of banter we will get in ME3.  The banter while doing the hover car chase scene was my favorite, but the comments at the door trying to get inside the SB base were excellent as well.

I wasn't saying that she was wrong but talking about when she gets "focused" on something. That is part of what makes her great at things that require intense concentration, her ability to shut out everything else, even her friend/lover smacking pavement. That focus can be used for good or bad like everything else. My Shep on the pavement wasn't too impressed (pissed) but me (the player) was laughing my butt off. Posted Image

The dialogue & interaction in LotSB, to me, was the best in all the games ... even people not with Liara has said that they hope that type of exchange is used with their Shepard & LI as well. I always thought that even in battle you should see/hear differences based on the relationship you have with the characters (lovers, friends, associates) ... but that may be asking too much.

I would love a mix of concern, comedy, anger, etc between Shepard and his/her comrades.

quick of topic question if BW made more mass effect or da 2 like games would you be happy to give up the ability of changing the PC first name so that LI or party member could use the PC first name?

IE Liara calling the PC John or Jane instead of Shepherd I know it's just a small thing but just thought it would be cool

I'd much rather keep the ability to name my character. Sure, it's weird that Liara refers to her lover by her last name, but... *shrug*

Bioware has sorta ruined other games for me in that regard. If a game doesn't come with a character creator, I feel cheated.

To be fair. The fact that most character address Shepard by using his last name has never bothered me. So I proberly won't enjoy the scenes anymore than I already do.

In fact. If MaleShep's first name was locked and characters adressed him at his first name. I would proberly only play Femshep because I can not take the name John seriously (no offence to any John's out there. It just the name has been the subject of many inside jokes among certain people I know).

Tell me about it, I can barely play games that aren't RPGs these days..

I don't really care about my character's first name never being used, it seems fine to me. I've known two people who I've only ever refered to by their last name, one of them was a good friend too, it just seemed to work better than their first names for some reason. And since Shepard's known galaxy wide as "Commander Shepard" I could see it sticking even among close friends, maybe even becoming something of a running joke.

'Shepard' just sounds sexier than...god knows what people could come up with for a first name.
