It's not that we hate Liara, it's that she gets significantly better treatment than both the ME2 cast and VS.

Liara was in ME2 for like a two minute cameo, I thought that would have satisfied her haters enough.
Wwwwelllll... to be fair; there was that whole "best DLC of ME2" thing that came up afterwards and was absent for the other characters...
To be fair.
Yeah, though not everyone liked it. Then again, Nozy probably hates lemon meringue pie, he seems to hate everything.

So, hey. We were talking here a while back about the Asari head fringe, aaand... it's actually discussed in ME3. Bioware thought of everything, it's crazy. I don't think it counts as a spoiler, but I know some people don't want to read anything from the leaks. I could post here, or folks can message me if they're interested. It's very amusing.
I feel curious myself. I decided to stop reading the leak after coming across a really badly written moment, so could you PM that?

Reed? You actually come over to the Liara thread? Xili has amazing powers. LOL!
It is sad that Liara, Ashley and Kaidan BSN fans seem to be breaking up and attacking each other.
To be fair, I've had to sit through Ash hate on this thread as well which I didn't like.
It's rough on us that love all three characters to see this meltdown. Especially since I think all three will have the most interaction with Shepard in ME3. Can you imagine if you were a Jacob fan? Or a Samara fan? How much time will they get? But it is also about quality over quantity. If I had a mission like LotSB with Liara in ME3 that would be happy time. Better that than her on the Normandy "calibrating". Being a full-time squaddie does not mean more time when it comes to quality.
I might need to stop coming on the board though until after ME3 is released since its getting ugly on the threads about other characters and then the spoiler trolls graffitti'ing the walls.

I second that. It's plausible most of the ME2 cast won't play any bigger role than for a particular mission - and only if they made it through the SM. None of them will be a real pivot point for the main story. They might help to raise "galactic readiness", but that's it.
The character with most influence next to Shepard was and is Liara. She was needed in ME to get the story running (Prothean message, Conduit, Ilos), she saved Shepard's body in ME2 and becomes Shadowbroker. She will become SB with or without Shepard's help, like Arrival will happen with or without the DLC.
It's unlikely Liara won't have any influence in ME3.
I don't dislike Liara - she's a nice character. The devs just wanted a bit too much and nearly damaged her character by adding too many roles. She virtually becomes a plot device ...
However, lets see how things turn out in ME3.

Errr... t-this is the Liara thread... *looks around* ... I ah.. I, must have taken a wrong turn...
Also, there isn't going to be any full-time squaddie's, I don't think. At least that's what Casey said. But yeah, they'll definitely have less content and I know exactly how they feel. It's a terrible feeling. I also feel more for the Jacob fans after seeing certain spoilers. Not only does he get less time... the time he has is marred by a crappy ooc thing.
Anyway, like I just said in the Ash thread... Liara is just the unfortunate recipient of the hate b/c she seems like Bioware's little pet.

No, he was just very evasive on answering that question; he never actually flat-out said that nobody was permanent. Having read the spoilers, it does certainly appear that there are indeed permanent squadmates.xxSgt_Reed_24xx wrote...

And I second that. I said it before, maybe with wrong words, maybe someone got it wrong. In that case, I need to apologize once more. It's BW's fault - Liara was fine in ME. The LotSB DLC was a fine piece of work, but Liara doesn't feel like Liara anymore ...
Edit - and yep, that's a "cease weapons" from my side

You jsut named what seemed to go wrong for me with Liara. shes a very interesting character until shes more important to the plot then to Shepard. Her character development from ME1 to LotSB is very interesting overall. I hope she'll continue developping in ME3 and not jsut be 'the character him keeping onboard cause I need her for a big role at the end of the game' (like she was for many of my Sheps in ME1).

Okay maybe Morinth, but she killed my Shepard.
Of course I disagree with some of their opinions or don't like certain aspects of their characters, but the character as a whole? No I like them all, I will be devasted if I can't save Jacob and I will be devastated if I can't save Liara.
I know, my heart will be broken in ME3. It's a war story after all.
But I think in the end I will have the better ME3 experience, than anyone who cheers when a Squadmate dies.

You are not alone ... I think Bioware created very unique characters from each other. All of them come through for Shepard and while I might have my favorites there is no hate for any of them.
I don't mind people not liking characters though ... it's just like real life. We don't like everyone, although I've never hated anyone real in my life either. Just prefered to not be in their company because we did not mesh.
I just sometimes get a little peeved when their own prejudice against the character voids even the good the character does. This often happens in politics. If the person doesn't have the right card "liberal/conservative" you deny the positive things about them.
But such is life ... now back to Skyrim!

Exactly. I can think of few Bioware characters period that I truly dislike. And the ones I do, I find interesting characters that enrich the experience. I love the characters Bioware have created for the Mass Effect games.
I just love Liara a teensie weensie bit more. :innocent:
Of course, it's not always sunshine and bunnies. I liked hanging out in the VS threads as well, but current attitudes have deterred me from them. Plus; spoilers.
