The only thing that makes me kind of worried about choosing between Liara or Ashley is that in time, Shepard will inevitably die of old age or in battle and since asari lives for thousands of years, assume shepard is on his mid 30's and liara is 107, assuming he dies of old age arround 90, she would be arround 162 so there is still a way too long run for her and just don't belive she can hold her legs closed for almost 850 years
ehh. Human seems to live to be atleast well over a 100 years old (we are just lucky if we hit 150). I also don't see what is wrong with Liara finding someone else in time.
And to use a little bit of meta-gaming. It is entirely possible that the Lazarus project have expanded Shepard's lifetime.

By the time ME3 comes out Liara will be 109. She said her birthday was in a couple of months. She was 106 in ME1.Henrique wrote...

I also think the 350/700 age of biological change in asari is just an average. The codex does state if an asari meld often they will hit Matron stage earlier and if they meld less they will hit the Matriarch stage later.
And does it really mean that a maiden can't have children? It just seems to me that when they hit the matron stage is when they want to settle down and have a family. I am not sure that means that is the only time in their life they can have children. Just a thought.

Response to the bold.....Miranda stated she will live half as long as the normal human from her design. Which I am sure has plenty of cybernetics in her. Which could very well mean that Shepard can live past 150.Lizardviking wrote...

Humans living up to 150? The oldest people i saw was on a interview and she was over 110 but 150 is way too much, and considering Shepard's lifestyle (war) i can't belive he will pass the 100 mark
You want proof
*points finger*
there it is

Also the cybernetics logically extend Shep's life somewhat, depends the extent of the cybernetics really

You are talking about humans lifetime in the ME universe. Which due to medical advanced and whatever now can live to 150 (if lucky). So I assume that the average lifetime is 120.

Miranda said she would live half again more than an average human (meaning nearly 200 I guess) and I wouldn't be surprised if Shepard would as well.

With Liara there are negatives, as in EVERY relationship, and the player has to decide based on their individual Shep's drives/needs/wants if those negatives stop the romance. For my femshep she does consider the obstacles: children, different lifespans, religions, culture, etc. In my story, Shepard and Liara have discussed a few and they both have tabled a few until after the reaper wars end.
Both are not sure if they will survive some of the obstacles (both human & asari) and I probably won't really know until after ME3. I don't play a story ahead of the games.
My Shepard cringes at the thought of being and looking 110 with Liara looking like she just stepped off Therum. That dread she has not shared with Liara yet and I don't think that Liara has considered it.
Now as to Liara's life after Shepard ... I hope that she finds a new love. She will, after all, live another 800+ years.

Concrete. We got screwed in ME2 (though after LotSB, not as bad as the VS romancers). I want my little blue children happily-ever-after, frack it.Collider wrote...
Here's hoping for a great resolution to the Liara romance. It's the most developed one by far, and deserves a proper ending.
Here's a question: ambiguous or concrete romance ending? Which do you prefer?

I know for my Shepard, I would want Liara to get on with her life after my Shepard died of old age. Shepard will always be a part of Liara. She will have fond memories of their time together, but she needs to live her life. I would want her to be happy. If that meant being alone or with someone else, I would be fine.TMA LIVE wrote...

Both know asari live long lives and humans are a short lived species. Think of the asari that mate with salarians that only live to 40ish. I think the only other species that live as long as asari are the korgan. And we all know what happened between Aethyta's parents.

From the wiki:
However, as humans only emerged on the galactic stage within the last
thirty years, it is highly likely that the introduction of new
technology into their society will greatly increase their average
lifespan.
So what's to say that the average human lifespan couldn't be increased to, say, 800 years with the effects of aging greatly reduced? Heck, they already have the technology to bring back to life a man who has been dead, frozen, and vacuum dessicated for months.

You can play it any way you like really ...
I choose to go with Liara's 120 tops, if you're lucky. It just works for my game play. Any longer and all I see are plastic, big fake lips, swollen cheeks, hollywood "youthful" look dominating ... scary.
50-year-olds trying to look 20 is bad enough ... Now it would be 400 year olds trying to look 20.
