I think the nickname for Shepard is too difficult, since all shepards are different, the male/female, paragon/regenade, already makes it near impossible, and throw in a class in there and you will never come up with a universal nickname for Shepard.
Besides he already has one, it's Commander xD

I can't even imagine that my paragon Shepard would like having a cute nickname. Maybe that's just me projecting, my idea of a pet name for my friends is slag (or other things I can't write here).
I did lol when Liara calls Shepard "Commander" after they'd just shagged. So yeah I'd say that makes for a perfect nickname.

I think Liara has the best lines in ME1, ranging from the whole late resque dialogue, to the epic line on Virmire:
"I don't know what's worth, the Geth or all this sand in my... nevermind."
I think she meant her head folds xD right?... right?

After
hearing that comment on my first playthrough I made sure I always
brought Liara to Virmire on subsequent playthroughs so I could hear it
again (saying that I pretty much take her everywhere anyway since she's
the best squaddie).
If she meant her head why say nevermind? Unless she just didn't realise we'd assume something else.
And having a biotic in the squad is winning.

To be honest I pretty much always end up walking around with Liara and Garrus, what can I say I like the Turian, it's fun to see Paragon Shepard educate him, and him reacting to it in the end when he thanks you.
For some reason I found that changing Garrus and making a straight arrow out of him was more engaging then leaving him they way he is, it doesn't reflect on him at all in ME 2 though.Sarcastic Tasha wrote...

I thought I'd be leaving her behind more when I played as an adept but nope turns out you can't have too much biotics. Although it did make things a bit too easy, by the end I was finding my insanity/adept run easier than my normal/infiltrator run.
Liara and Garrus are my usual team too, by far my two favourite characters. Tali is pretty useful in ME1 though because there's loads of Geth. I've never tried to change Garrus, I like him to be more renegade. Not sure I really like the idea of influencing characters, I like that Liara sticks to her guns.

Speaking of taking Liara everywhere, I don't think I want to play Noveria mission without her, and then tell her that we killed her mother and she wasn't there to say goodbye :-./

In my first playthrough I didn't have her with me at the start of Noveria but then Kaidan suggested she might want to go, so I promptly swapped Kaidan for Liara (maybe he shouldn't have said anything). I don't think I could do Noveria without her either, I think that's part of the reason why I've never killed the Rachni Queen, Liara always tells me not to.

Haha awesome. I have the same problem, I end up releasing the Rachni because Liara was rather determined
