Noo, you b!tch! YOU B!TCH!!

Seriously though, spoilers ruin it. I actually came to this thread because I thought there were none. Finally finished SM on Liara playthough, gonna do Shadow Broker tonight. Can't wait.

Does Aethyta even count as a spoiler?
She was mentioned in an interview everyone discussed on this thread.
It was the same interview I think, where they talked about the whole eyebrow thing.

I have to google it.

THE QA for Hardcore Fans

I mean everyone can read this since April and come to their own conclusion. But for me the whole Aethyta thing is like an open Spoiler. No one ever confirmed anything, but the signs are everywhere.

btw: I always lol when I read the Asari eyebrow explanation.

Yeah I don't count the Aethyta thing as a spoiler or a plot twist of any kind. The writing was on the wall ever since Lotsb came out. Honestly I'd be shocked if Aethyta ISN'T Liara's father. Guess we'll find out exactly what's up with those two in ME3.

:blink:I missed the 400th page! Noes! Anyway, 400 pages whohoo.
And now it's time to return to the province of Skyrim again.:)

She is aware of it, though...there's plenty of instances of her admiting this in dialog.  I'm assuming we played a different game.

Until you got the high-quality DLC.

It's not that we hate Liara, it's that she gets significantly better treatment than both the ME2 cast and VS.

I don't see why this becomes such a huge issue, it doesn't make sense for all characters in a fictional world to get the same amount of "air time", changing the story just so they can doesn't make any sense if it doesn't feel natural.

It'd be like complaining that if you like Kaidan and Ashley, that Bioware are showing favouritism, by not making it so Liara, Tali and Garrus can also die.

It is just how the story goes. Obviously this makes it better for the Liara fans, but I don't see the problem, in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series, half of my favourite characters are dead, and half the ones I hate are still thriving, but I'm not going to go on a forum to complain that the author is showing favouritism to the characters I don't happen to like, it's just pathetic.

Thank you! I'd love more of this kind of thing. It'd be nice to get some answers to those ponderings I get while playing ME. 'I wonder what/why/if...'

but she doesn't feel it's as big a problem as anyone else does. i mean in act 1, just casually slitting her hand to bypass a barrier, and then when everyone's all 'wtf?' she's all like ITS K GUYS ITS ONLY BLOOD MAGIC

i really should stop typing how I speak, it's making me sound like an idiot

So I did Shadow Broker on my Liara playthrough the other night. I was a little rushed and had to quit just after the boss fight so I'll probably replay it to take my time and finish it off. But I gotta say I'm a little disappointed in how little difference there is in how romanced vs non-romanced Liara acts.

First off that conversation about handing Shepard's body to Cerberus that I asked about before, had markedly little improvement.  There are two possible places to find out how Liara gave Shepard to Cerberus: either after doing all the side quests in the main game or the first convo of the DLC. If you do the former Shepard's replies are rather awful, whether paragon or renegade and Liara is either upset but defiant or grateful (and her reactions make sense). But in the DLC convo, she's either neutral or midly annoyed while Shepard is a lot more toned down.  The thing is in my previous playthrough I had Ashley romanced in ME1 and Miranda in ME2, and I seem to remember Liara getting a lot more emotional when she talks about what she had to do. As in actual tears. This time around there is no sign of that. It's possible I'm remembering wrong. If that's the case, or if a third conversation like that somehow happens after the Shadow Broker's defeat, don't tell me just yet. A simple "wait and see" will suffice, as I wil replay it tonight.

My second point is related to the first. I bought Liara's detached, seemingly uncaring matter during the main game when she was watched by the Shadow Broker constantly. I bought it during the chase and fight with Vasir. Where I stopped buying it is right after during the "interrupt chase". Maybe someone can shed some light on why she still seems calloused and uncaring? We're gunning for the Shadow Broker in plain sight. It doesn't matter who sees what now. So why is she still like that? I was especially displeased with the last part of that sequence, the "will you just talk to me?" When I picked "our relationship" as the dialog option what followed seemed almost like a breakup. "Can't just wish away 2 years", "we're different people now". Seriously? I honestly thought the next logical line was "it's not gonna work out". If I knew nothing else about how it was going to end I would've thought we were broken up. I didn't even cheat (rather hard, not talking to Miranda let me tell you). But it almost feels as if I should've. I'm not saying they should break down and make out right there. If she told Shepard "now's not the time" I would've understood that. But the whole sequence... "we're different people"... I actually felt Shepard's "Fine!" comment and now consider it one of the best placed lines in the game. Am I missing something?

You have to wait after the SB fight, I'm not going to spoil it for you.
For the balcony scene, the answer if you didn't romance her, explains why Liara doesn't want to talk.
I kind of agree with what she is saying.

Post again how you liked the DLC, after the Boss fight. :D

I'm not sure what you're referring to.

You have two dialogue options on the balcony, if you romanced her.
The standart answer,( the dialogue option you get if you didn't romance her) gives an answer to why Liara doesn't want to talk.
I agree with her, but I don't know how you feel about what she has to say.

So you mean after "will you just talk to me?" There are two options then. "Our relationship" (if romanced) and something else (can't remember what the wheel said). You say that explains it? Well my last save is already past that point so you might as well tell me what she says and why you agree with it.

Feron didn't only save Liara, he sacrificed himself for a corpse!
In my opinion he deserves Shepard's and Liara's undivided attention and not two people who try to figure out their relationship.
It may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but I think Feron deserves it.
So I agree with Liara and I think that paragon Shepards have an inappropriate timing.

If you want to see it: Liara balcony dialogue

OK, see that's what I was looking for. "This isn't the time to talk, we can do that after we've saved Feron". That would be acceptable. She's still too angry about it but at least it works.
The relationship option is terrible though. And I don't see why "not now" couldn't have been worked into the relationship reply. Shepard is perfectly justified in asking about the relationship. Shadow Broker or not she does treat him callously. So she went through all this crap, sacrificing a friend and pissing off the most powerful individual in the galaxy just to get him back and now that he is back, she doesn't care? That's what it seems like to Shepard. A "not now" explanation would've mitigated all of this. It wouldn't have fixed personal issues but being what he is, Shepard would've understood "mission comes first".

I'd jump in here but you haven't done the cabin scene yet. I would recommend doing the whole DLC first before the discussion really since there is still more dialogue coming aboard the Normandy.

I'm aware it's supposed to vindicate all this, I just don't know the details yet. But I will play it tonight.

I think at this point her "I am being watched" excuse is just that, an excuse. She does not wish to talk to Shepard because of several reasons. One being that she is afraid that Shepard finds out about her involvement with Cerberus, another being that she is too afraid about letting Shepard get close again to her. That is why she is making herself distant.

The first reason doesn't matter at this point because Shepard already knows about her involvement and is more or less at peace with it. I am not down with the second reason at all. Perhaps we can discuss it after I finish the DLC entirely.
