LOL! When I met Ali Hillis in San Diego we talked about my Shepard with Liara, among other things, and she was very fun and open about the characters. You could tell that she loved voicing Liara.

As we shook hands she said in a very flirty Liara voice "Thanks for playing with me Commander Shepard." Now that made me smile and people around us jealous! *very nerd moment* I would tell you my response but there might be children present. I'll just say that I was shameless but it was all in good fun and made her laugh.

I just wish that I had taped that moment. Image IPB

Ha! This reminds me of that podcast interview I found on the early pages of this thread. The interviewer starts going on about how he stays faithful to Liara in ME2 and she's just giggling along and when he finally stops she thanks him in the Liara voice. Cue like a min of silence (from him, mind you. She's just laughing).

You know what happened there:lol:

Alright, Liara lovers, your 3 favourite things about Liara, GO!*

Her undying loyalty. I have a weakness for characters who are fiercly loyal and would move heaven and earth for the person they're devoted to.

Her compassion.
Her honesty.

She is a tease!

I had no idea that she was going to be there. I had went for the demo at the Bioware base during the comicon and waited over three hours to play it. My friends and family just don't get why anyone would wait that long to play a real game much less a demo.

I was already excited to meet Casey Hudson but failed to ask any real questions. I figured that he wouldn't share any spoilers so I just made polite conversation. Then Ali walked past me and I did a double take. She was walking past everyone and no one was recognizing her so you know who had to make her feel welcome!

We talked about her "Liara" fan base and this thread ... I really mean it when I say that she seemed genuinely interested in this thread and the impact that Liara has in the Mass Effect world.

She is great fun and willing to play which is really cool.

Korkki & Lizardviking ... I was flirty enough for the three of us. Instead of a slap to the face, which I half expected, she sent me a nice tweet. Image IPB

This is when I really noticed Liara to be honest. Image IPB

I know, right? Like, Shepard and the VS are just awful on the dance floor (well who're we kidding? They're us on the dance floor) And then comes Liara and does that... My biggest regret is that I did two entire playthroughs and didn't find this out. Third time's a charm though right?

For me it was the voice though:
"I find you fascinating Commander." And then I nerded all over the floor.

Jealous. So jealous.

I'm a dude, but whenever I see like interviews with Ali Hillis and she does a bit of Liara-speak I squeal like a little girl

Going through LotSB tonight. It's my first time doing so with a shep that didn't romance Liara (this playthrough, Leigh Shepard cheated on Kaidan with Garrus.) . But of course I'm going to head-RP my shep as being quietly jealous of Feron. :P

Ah finally finished Shadow Broker! Now we can talk (unless we want to gush about Ali or Liara more, I'm totally down for that).
I loved the kiss after the fight. Though you really have to be on the trigger for that second one. I actually missed it the first time around because I was scratching my chin. Had to reload the whole damn level. Totally worth it though.
Otherwise, if I have to be nitpicky (and I do) I'll say that the constant repetition of "it's been two years" and "you were dead" was a just a tad irritating. I mean this was hailed as the scene to totally redeem all previous grievances. I'm waiting to finally see them unwind and renew some tender love (and I don't just mean the boinking) and still we're left with holding tactics. I know she hasn't worked through her feelings at his return yet and it's all realistic and all that but at the end of the day, I still feel like a kid who's been promised a cake, is teased with some cake but in the end only gets one tiny slice. Yes it was awesome and delicious and made of win, but I still want more.
But I guess it wouldn't be right if I just left it there so yes, what tenderness and caring there was I enjoyed very much, and it was totally worth the nigh-godlike self-control it took not to chat up Miranda again and I still love Liara very much. I also love cake.

Hmm...

Her voice, naturally.
Is saying "her personality" cheating? If so then her... dedication.
And dem -

I also love the way she and Shepard banter (read argue like an old married couple) in LotSB. But that's four things. It's pretty hard.

I missed some of the dang interrupts myself and had to replay a couple times to catch them all. The first time through found asking about Feron really hard since I was almost expecting Liara to dump Shepard. Crazy I know.

And you are right that it was just a small slice but at least Shepard's with Liara got something. I wish that when she had started crying that you had the option to hug her again and comfort her. I would have preferred more tender words, soft kisses and touching to the "boinking" asari style myself.

Or at least options ... A) Boinking Asari style B) Boinking Earth style C) Tender moment of words & kisses   Image IPB

1) Her voice.  I actually played FF13 before I got into ME and absolutely fell in love with Ali's voice work as Lightning.  Even though she does play them differently, I instantly felt like I already knew Liara when I heard her speak.  I then squeed when I found out both were Ali.

2) Her loyalty.  Yes she is my LI in 90% of my play throughs but the fact that she is willing to face down the SB and Collectors to get your body back regardless if you are together or not. . .I dont even know what to say.  I love  it.

3) Her growth as a character.  I find it wonderful and amazing that she grows from shy and awkward (and adorable) scientist into a confident, cunning and strong-willed information dealer.

Was hard too limit that to just 3. . .Liara is most certainly my favorite character in the ME universe.

Gotta say I'm not fond of Feron. I know he helped save me and all that but really, all Liara does this entire game with the exception of the aformentioned scenes are for his sake. What'd he do that made her try so hard? Yes maybe it is just deep friendship and gratitude and, aw hell, irrational jealousy away! So yeah I have to admit that if there were a "dally a bit too long and let him get killed option" I might've made Shepard stare very intently at a wall texture for a while...

And maybe I missed something but isn't asari-style boinking basically Earth-style boinking but with psyching mind melding thrown in? In any case as with all romance scenes, I take the fade to black as an indeterminate break in time which I can imagine extends for as long as I want to. So I choose to believe they were in there for several days with much holding, kissing, and yes boinking of whatever variety is available.^_^

Favourite three things about Liara? why am I forced to choose between the uncountable phycisal, emotional and mental vertues of my absolyte favourite characters of all times and entertainment genres.

But it would likely be, in no special order:
1) Her tenderness and "soft" personality
2) Her beauty, primarily but not exclusively phsycally.
3) the simple fact that whenever I see her, I smile, and when I see her smile, I become ecstatic with joy Image IPB

Other things include, her passion for and devotion to shepard, her intellect, her interest in archeology, the fact that she is an asari and a biotic, and I could go on and on... and on...

Ah, and there is a new Shepard/Liara comic stribe from Wingedmoggy

And the one it picks up from for good measure:

Liara's loyalty reminds me of the wookie. Fiercely loyal to those who save her. Like the life debt concept of the wookie.

Ok I wasn't going to say this before but I'm officially taking this as precedent and therefore permission.

*Extreme CHEESE Alert!*

The other day I was looking at pictures of Liara (do I need a reason?) and I suddenly thought of "Can't Smile Without You" by Barry Manilow (because of Hellboy 2; that's my story and I'm sticking with it!). And it... just fit. So yeah... Shepard and Liara. On a date. With this song. Or this song randomly coming up on his playlist and he just starts thinking about her. No drunken singing required though.

/end CHEESE

*hides from CHEESE explosion.

You should once do the Miranda/Liara romance and play LotSB.
Liara's comments on the ME2 LI are funny. You only have to flirt with them and Liara will know. Which is a little bit creepy. ^^

But the best thing about the DLC is, that how you behave changes the dialogue. Like when you never talk about the romance, Liara will bring it up.
If you don't do the kiss, Liara will ask Shepard if he/she is jealous.

Taking a break from Skyrim to check out the Liara thread again and I have to say I completely agree with the cake comparison (Lovely comparison by the way. Everything is better with cake after all). Even with everything that happened in Lotsb, it's just the start. Liara and Shepard are back together now but we'll have to wait for ME3 to see where it really goes. Hence the slice of cake that was Lotsb whereas the remaining cake is the Liara romance plot in ME3.

Maybe I shouldn't have said that. If for some weird reason the Liara romance plot in ME3 isn't perfect, I'll be reminded of the cake comparison and be forced to say: "Where's the cake? I was told there would be cake. The cake is a lie!"

Edit: I am dissapointed by the lack of blue on this page though. So here's a treat.

Ah, I get what you're saying but I just can't bring myself to cheat on any of them! And I knew from experience that if I started the Miranda romance I would never stop. I could've started things up with Tali and stopped before committing or admitting feelings, but I wanted to save her loyalty mission for last so I could bring Legion along since he's the only squadmate that actually interacts with that story arc.
Still can do in later playthroughs... or watch on Youtube.

But I think her comment on Thane was probably one of her more honest moments. Since this was a DLC I've always thought that if your Shepard wasn't faithful to her, especially after all she went through to retrieve the body, there would be some kind of backlash but not until ME3.

Making her constantly this "understanding" soul starts to get a little grating and I want her to push back, at least a little. Yes, I am still glaring at the whole three-some = I'm glad you picked me moment. No Liara! Walk away, please! Follow Ashley's lead!

But I must keep reminding myself that she is asari and not a human.

Okay, I feel better now. Image IPB

Ugh no. I like Ashley and actually picked her the first time around. But she's terrible in that confrontation. "Following her lead" in anything even resembling that capacity actually makes me cringe. Of course the whole scene could've been handled better (at least with a different Liara response if she wins by default). And there's nothing wrong with threesomes!

If nothing else, I want to emphasise the difference between understanding and pushover. Liara is the former, not the latter.
