I mean c'mon, if you want to start thinking that way, basicly all the characters are useless and they could be replaced by other/new characters. Why was Garrus the archangel, why it was Tali who was on the Freedom's progress, why of all the assassins in the galaxy it was Thane we recruited, or why it was Miranda who led the Lazarus team, not some ugly middle aged overweight guy. That is just childish.

Okay okay, I know they're pissed because their favorite character is going to have less screen time than the original squad, but that's still just childish, I like Thane, Samara and many other characters too, but I'm not expecting them to have more screen time just because I like them, well ofc they're not my LIs so maybe that's different but anyway....

And sorry for this, I just needed to blow off some steam 

The bickering here has nothing over some other fandoms. (Shudders at the thought of Vegeta V.S Goku argument; which somehow always turns into a VegetaxGoku argument.)

The whole Liara recovering Shep's body had a different effect on me because she was my Shep's love. I considered ending that relationship, not because I disliked Liara all of a sudden, but because I felt that both Liara and Shep had kind of moved on, and my Shep got closer with Garrus. (thank god Jack was unavailable for FemShep) It was a decision I couldn't make for the longest time. And i felt like Shep would be he biggest ass in the world for ending the relationship after everything Liara did, including her friend getting captured.

As I was playing the Shadow Broker DLC I was surprised by Liara's clod attitude towards Shep, specifically that part where Shep gets blown out a window and you get the option to confront Liara about how she doesn't even ask if Shep's ok, or something along those lines. It just reinforced my feeling that they had both moved on. Then Liara had that whole thing about mourning for two years and wanting to give Shep to Cerberus even if it made Shep hate her. I also played the DLC before the Suicide Mission so I got Liara saying how she didn't want to see Shep not come back again and it killed me. In the end I did "keep my love blue and true."

I was also not very happy with the new Liara attitude in ME2. I have no problem with them making her character grow but I didn't really see much of the ME1 Liara until the end of the Shadow Broker DLC and I really hope they keep some of that innocence, awkwardness and her being a bit oblivious (because it was cute) in her.

Also I wanted to ask if anyone knew how to change their user pic to one of the ones not in Bioware's selection? I really like the one of Liara with the 3 on the first page of this topic. Also, are there any small sized banners? All the ones I see are long and won't fit in the space I have left. Thanks

Wait till everyone starts raging because three months before the game came out "X person as a permanent squadmate petition" came out and it did nothing. There is also going to be rage bceause X person who is not a permanent was also not an LI, which to me makes sense. How can you develop a relationship with say Kasumi if she's in the game for ten minutes? I think the only LI's will be the permanants and the cameo people you already established a relationship with, otherwise that door is locked. To me this makes sense. I can see people now being like "I could romance Liara again but not Miranda, grrrr!!!" I do support gay relationships, although I hated how they did it in DA2, but after two games where say Kaidan is straight it wouldn't make sense for him to just all of sudden realize he's gay. Anyways, my point is that any of the hatred (for whichever character or whatever reason) is just going to worse after ME3 is out.

Eh, rather than getting irritated I prefer to just rub in their faces that Liara's a major character in ME3 instead, it always works.

Yeah, well I don't know if I was irritated actually, I'm more just amazed how most of the people seem to be immature whiners and even more that they don't even have the most basic skills of having a real conversation. I'm just disappointed, not that such people exist, but that their numbers are so big. Or maybe I'm not even amazed that there are so many people who are like that, maybe I just kinda hoped that it wouldn't be so, because honestly, that is quite sad if you can't even have a simple conversation with other people, do they act like that irl too, or is it just the Internet that gives them this anonymity and then they think they're not interacting with real people anymore so they don't have to behave at all.

But I like your attitude though, let them whine all they want, it won't affect me, because the thing is, we're going to have Liara as a permanent squad member whether they like it or not. But I try to act correct and avoid this "hahaa, we're gonna have our LI in ME3 and ur not, suckers!" -kinda stuff. And yes I guess that wasn't what you meant anyway but still..

The Liara deal with it-pic would fit here just fine, though for some reason I just couldn't get it work earlier today when I tried....

I haven't gone through the script but alot of people that I've seen mention liara's role have seemed pretty disapointed / said it's bad, might have just been fan-biased though. what did you guys think of it overall?

Liara's implied role in me3 was bad? Where did you hear it. She probally has the most important role after Shepard.

There are a lot of people here (me included) who want to avoid spoilers and know the story and all only when the game comes out. So that's why we're not discussing (or at least we try not to discuss) about spoilers here.

So if you're asking what we think about Liara's role in ME3 according to those spoilers this is kinda a wrong place to ask, which I know, as a Liara fan thread, might sound weird. But still there are Liara fans here who have seen those spoilers so I guess they're happy to PM you about that kind of stuff. But we're not discussing about that spoiler information here in this thread, or at least that's the plan.

I have seen the script and her role is awesome but will not say anything more. The whines you have read are fan-biased (other fans mainly ME2) they hate the strong position of Liara story wise. To be simple is just jealousy

I just made an observation with default ME3 femshep and liara..the 'freckles' on their faces are almost exactly the same..

I guess I'm late to the party, but Liara is definitely my favorite; based on personality, appearance(love freckles), and intelligence; I think she's the best option. Funny thing is I used to be an avid Talimancer, but these days Tali just seems too.. "little sistery" to me, and it just felt weird to try, and romance her again.

Welcome!  The more we are the better we can support Liara!
