There are 10 characters in the base game. Subtract Thane and Samara and you have 8, which is all you need. You don't even need either of them to keep the entire team alive through the SM.

You don't need either of them on the squad sure but there is an arbitrary squaddie amount trigger before the CS mission will trigger is their not? Because you *can* lose 3 squaddies instantly on the way to the CS. Then is another before you reach the interior of the base (this is Shep being absolutely horrible). You *have* to have at least 4 squaddies during the Escort mission trigger One to hold the barrier, one to be distraction and the other two with Shep. You then lose distraction if it's not Miranda I think or loyal Garrus/Jacob. And if your biotic person wasn't Jack you then lose second squaddie who was with you severely cutting Shep down to 3 squaddies. (or two) (so even if someone dies there has to be a backup) (if you only have 4 squaddies though the game won't let you send an escort). I think that's how it works.

Not to mention missng out on two characters because I don't want to hug a third one is ridculous. The hug should've been optional.

He does? Ugh I'm confused now. I'm pretty sure there has to be a squaddie limit because Shep can give Legion to Cerberus how can he count towards the limit when it's too late. Unless the kidnapping of the crew is delayed until Shep's recruited another character? (I've always had the Reaper IFF mission trigger right after doing one more mission regardless of what it was (or two if I spoke to Legion soon enough). Then again I only gave away Legion in one game....that with the ability to kill off 4 squaddies before reaching the biotic bubble. Yup you're right. I'm using the SM calculator. Illium is only optional if you have DLC installed or the latest patch (not sure which triggered the change).

Edit: Wait...no it's not. I'm getting conflicting information. People who do not have the DLC installed are telling me they have to have 8 squadmates before the CS mission even triggers. And there's no way Legion can count towards that. Plus Dev quote settled this: http://social.biowar.../index/2037241/ Legion does not count towards the eight for the CS mission to trigger. he can't.
So yeah. Illium is *not* optional if you do not have Zaeed and/or Kasumi.

And regardless someone should not have to miss out on two characters to avoid getting hugged by another. The hug should've been optional. I like Samara and Thane too much so I pretty much mash the escape button during that scene (like I do during LoTSB) but really whoever did the Garrus scene should've worked on that one.

You would know, had you read back enough and not just jumped on a Liara Fan thread to complain about Liara, that we very firmly prefer no spoilers on this thread.  So please refrain from saying things like you just said.  A lot of our more active members have already left because people couldn't heed that one simple request.

And you'd know I didn't jump in here to complain about Liara but about a certain frame of mind if you read back enough as well. If some of your regulars didn't feel the need to run up in here ranting about how stupid wanting a choice is because it goes against their precious railroaded Liara and Shep relationship I wouldn't have said anything. No need to get all defensive about your pixels especially not when it's only in regards to optional treatment for coherent character development. If I wanted to complain about Liara I have a nice long list of complaints and the vast majority of them have nothing what so ever to do with what she did with Shep's body.

That said I will heed your request even if it could've been said in a more polite manner. So long Liara thread I hardly knew ye. It's been fun.

Pretty sure this is incorrect.

Collector ship happens five missions after Horizon, if by Horizon you already have 8 squadmates. If you don't got 8 squadmates, it will only trigger once you got said 8 (and once five turns have passed).

So without DLC, you need to go to Illium.

I've only got two achievements left to get in ME2 (I don't usually bother going for them but since I'm so close I might as well) they are

Insanity (complete the game on insanity without changing the difficulty)
And Paramour (successfully pursue a romance with a teammate... and Liara doesn't count)

I wouldn't have thought that Paramour would have been the harder of the two to achieve.

Thanks for all the compliments, guys.

It was probably just a relative thing. It was REALLY blue when I was working on it, so I threw in some pink to tone it down a little. Since I was staring at something all blue for a long time, the tweaks looked REALLY pink. But now that I haven't looked at it in a while, I can see it's definitely not as dramatic as I thought.

Color perception is weird, guys.

One aspect that I forgot that has been brought up is how Liara has seen the visions in Shepard's head. Does that mean she has that same vision in her as well? Or is it just a memory to her after seeing it? Either way, could she have done anything with it?
