If they wanted to simply appeal to 'dudes that just want to see girl on girl' they could do so in a way that didn't require the player to roll a female toon...for example, allow MaleShep to get a threesome with Liara and Ashley (that was shot down) or show some asari on asari make out sessions in the Afterlife club.

But there does seem to be a significant amount of guys that like to play female toons in general, and they've typically provided at least one female that they could romance and have created these romances to be on par with the straight ones.  I'm happy for this as it allows myself to roleplay romances that I can relate to as a lesbian woman.  I don't care if straight guys are playing them or why...there is a demand for this stuff and they'll add it...excellent.

The same could be said for the m/m in DA (And now in me3 I think?) being in large part to the female base, who like slash.

You wanted to say Jade Empire.  ^^ They didn't invent s/s options recently, it was already in their games.
I'm just glad that they don't implement everything from previous games, or we would have had the threesome in ME1.
Nothing against threesomes, but it wasn't done well in JE. More comical then romantic.

I like this famous truck-scene a lot "Truck" "I know" "TRUCK!!!" "I KNOW!" "There we go" "You're enjoying this..."  and ofc the "what kind of weapons does this thing have?" "It's a taxi, it has a fare meter" "Wonderful"

Also when they're entering SB base and "Liara is giving tactical advice for the mercs" had a lot of nice banther. "Keep dreaming T'Soni!"

I don't know if I really have a favourite, there were a lot of lines that made me laugh :happy:

There's a difference between an armored rover - strong enough to survive the destruction of the starship it's on, falling through the atmosphere from outer space and then landing on the ground with barely a scratch on it - and a taxi.

I agree and my reasons for rolling a male Shepard weren't  really that honorable either  meaning I did it mostly to romance all of the female love interests, well except for Tali - too much little sister for me. And I actually had some fun playing a dude, though I called him Beard Shepard But I guess a lesbian playing a male character in a hetero romance doesn't get the same weird looks than a straight guy playing a female character in a lesbian romance, but then again we generally get enough weird looks as it is

I love that line, too. The way it is delivered suggests more disbelief about Shepard's reaction than real shock, mixed with a little bit of "Why am I actually surprised? - it's Shepard!" and decorated with some facepalm.

It's just not that it's okay for a lesbian to play a hetero romance but we're actually expected to do this and be perfectly happy with it. "Oh, the lady you want to romance isn't available for females...too bad, play as a male."  I used to do that a lot when I was younger but I can't get into it anymore (a sign of getting old...I'm particular XD)

I think the romance can't occur if you get her last.

I'm not sure about completing all her dialog options.

Good question. I never tried to romance her when I saved her for last. Was an ash romance run, and I wanted to see the funny dialogue.

It happened to me in my first playtrough (couldn't find Feros:P). When you recruit her you get only her first dialogue, which doesn't trigger the romance. After that you have no choice but to go to the Citadel and is there where the romance' scene happens (when the Normandy gets locked). If you haven't any romance then you can't have any romance after, even if she flirts with you. At least that is what happened to me. I had Ash as romance, nuked her on Virmire by accident (thought I could save both Kaidan and Ash), tried to romance Liara after that but I couldn't.

Somebody wrote that if you recruit Liara as the last Squadmate, you can advance the romance plot only with some side missions.

That's what I remember, but I'm not exactly sure if it's true and I have no idea how many side missions. Maybe google can help.

It's true. I believe Ladyvader tried it out for herself some time ago. The thing is if you go to Therum last (so after Feros, Noveria and Virmire) then you can immediately talk to Liara once you're back on the Normandy and get the first of 3 'real' dialogues with her. Once you activate the galaxy map however you'll be forced to the Citadel, get through that nasty business with Udina and once you're back on the Normandy you can't initiate Liara's usual dialogue any more since all she'll talk about (as well as all other squadmembers) is how you stole the Normandy.

So that's pretty much it. No romance with Liara if you recruit her last. But a romance is still possible if Therum is the 3rd out of 4 planets you visit, as long as you don't go to the last planet before the 2nd dialogue with Liara in which she asks how Shepard feels towards her.
