Okay, so I went through ME2 again recently with ME1 import. What do you think Liara's reaction would have been to Shiala's 'flirting'.

I think she'd have the same reaction she had to the consort.
And I'm not in a GMT timezone. Why do you ask?

I just thought you might be,because you tend to post when I do.
Hmmn, I thought she might be even more jealous of Shiala. Only Shepard and Shiala have the 'cipher' and depending on the order you did things; may have been the first too mind-meld with shepard. Her outbursts in LOTSB if you cheat, shows a sort of scary side.
Her eyeroll about Miranda is lol.

Well me personally i do understand their position, because every character in the whole mass effect trilogy has had a chance to die but Liara. Some people like killing of the characters they don't like and they feel like its unfair.
And from what we know of ME3, that opportunity may present itself. Look, it's in Bioware's BEST interest to not allow all characters to die. If they make it so ALL characters can die, they need to invent new ones EVERY GAME. Think about that. Here's why it's an issue:
You need new companions every game. Look at ME2 - all chars can die, right? So who do they bring back in ME3? I mean, what if all ME2 people died. You're left with ME1 people and...new people. That inflates the production cost, yes? New voice actors. New models. New art. It also makes things MORE complex. People going "but I don't like these new people" or "more attention to the original people!" They either need to force some characters down our throats, or create new ones for EVERY release. That, or you can play ME3 going solo. No squadmates. That'd be fun, right?
So for LOTSB they either reuse a character from ME1 or create a new one. And it does seem to make the story richer if instead of creating another character, you reuse one. I mean, let's compare XMen 1 to XMen 3. 1 has a handful of characters...and they add depth to ones like Wolverine, Xavier to a smaller degree...cyclops and such. Now let's look at X3. Let's see...they create 65 new mutants for us. And they're all hollow. No character. No connection to them.
I'd rather Bioware force people on me than create 50 new ones every game. Characters in ME2 already felt hollow to a degree. Tali and Garrus I already knew, and they gained depth; LOTSB adds a ton of depth to Liara's character. Miranda was a good addition, but the rest seem shallow. Do you want that again in ME3? I don't.

As for the Shadowbroker the problem people have with is how did change from timid scientist to ruthless information broker in two, espcially since shes and asari where to some people they think 2 years= a couple of months for the asari. Some people say two years is a long time but how she just climbed to the top like that then kills the old SB. As a Liara fan even i call horsesh*t.
I graduated college in December of 2007, moved to the west coast and started my job March 08. At that point, I was your typical geek, not going out much, not partying...within 2 years I had flipped, was doing pub crawls and was by comparison extremely outgoing. Two years is A LOT of time. Especially when something traumatic happens. I watched my dad slowly wither away, barely able to recognize me in his final weeks. That stuff changes you. So don't doubt what two years can do to you.

I found that Garrus would've done better to get shepards body (i mean honestly i have seen no Garrus hate at all) because it would fit in more. I don't really get what your saying, Garrus is not a loner he had whole team back on omega, he was C-Sec officer where being a team player is vitale, loner i don't see it. As for looking at the big picture Garrus is cop thats what they do. The working through agents thing i could see Garrus doing its kind off a point of view really.
So, stepping back for a second: Wrex didn't even KNOW you were dead. Right? Ashley/Kaiden did. Tali did as well, I think. Does Garrus even say if he was there when you died? Better...Joker says he watched you DIE. As in, you're toast. So tell me: Why would Garrus who seemed to respect Shep but wasn't really sentimental with shep, go for the body? Getting a dead body is a sentimental thing. Liara seemed in ME1 to be somewhat sentimental. She possibly even helped kill her mother. So I wouldn't be surprised if she would go for the person's body that she cared for (even if you ignored her in ME1, there are lines in ME2 suggesting she was interested in you. And again, she did the embrace eternity thing with you two times.)
And again here, she was pulled into the the whole cerberus/shadow broker thing by going for shep's body. She saw the SB was supporting the Reapers. The SB captured Feron. Two good reasons to go after the SB and to change her style to accomplish the task.
Soccer FeverMan wrote...As for DLC thing it was more the fact that the DLC was Liara centric and how they made you act buddy buddy with her. i could see how that irks people, i know if they made me act buddy buddy with Tali i'd be vexed to.
Then don't buy it. Where did Bioware force you to buy it? And buddy buddy? Skip the paragon interrupts. Tell her she's obsessed. You only have to play buddy buddy with her as much as you do Jack or Tali.

Subjective is subjective.
Personally, I liked a heavy majority of the ME2 cast. Some (Samara, and Zaeed in particular) were boring. Kasumi felt very out of place in the suicide mission, but she's funny to talk to aboard the Normandy. That said, I still like the ME1 cast. Garrus and Liara in particular. I just like the ME2 cast moreso, with Mordin, Miranda, Thane, and Legion in particular.

Samara, Zaeed, Kasumi (while amusing, she didn't fit), Jack...I mean, I have to WORK to remember all the people in ME2. That's not good, that's bad. And we get new ones in 3, with little attention paid to the people from 2 I imagine, simply because they could all be dead. They will likely get as much attention as Wrex got. That is to say, a conversation. Ooooh boy I can't wait.
As for depth, Liara has more than people like Kasumi and Zaeed easily. You people seem to confuse a monotone voice with lack of depth. I suppose someone like Spock had no depth either? Nothing interesting about him? She's got as much depth as Tali or Garrus, easily.
I'm honestly happy we have less people in ME3 on the squad...I just wish Vega didn't look like such an absolute tool.

I don't believe anyone's doing that as noones even mentioned her having a monotone voice.RampantAndroid wrote...

She's a crap character because in ME1 she was the boring 'innocent naive virgin' archetype with little to no backstory and then in ME2 she had a complete and total character rewrite (that was completely ooc) just so she could remain relevent to the story AND THEN in ME3 all the 'developments' that were made with her character in ME2 (becoming the SB) were tossed aside so she could become a squadmate.

-Read redemption. While it's true her character changed between 1 and 2, it's not a "OMG COMPLETE REWRITE !!!!11!oneone!"
-As for ME3, personally i spoiled myself with the leak, and NOTHING was tossed aside. You're just whining.

Alright, you don't like her character in ME1, fine. Her change in ME2 though a bit too much in my opinion, was justified. She lost Feron while rescuing Shepard's body and now she wants revenge and to do so she becomes an info broker. And her development becoming the SB is not tossed aside in ME3. She can still be the SB in the Normandy, there is something called computers and networks, you know? Not to mention that she can give intel directly to Shepard, something she couldn't do on Hagalaz.

I'm sorry, but IIRC she is basically 10 years old in "human terms" during ME1, right? And she's isolated on dig sites? Hmm. Perhaps the character makes sense. I mean, what'd you want to find on Therum, Isabela from DA2 ready to jump you? And her story continues. It doesn't step backwards, as others have pointed out.
As for no one complaining about the monotone voice? You didn't read much of this thread, did you? Within the last 10 pages, someone was complaining about Ali Hillis, and the monotone performance.

Oh? Let's see. He sings the patter song. He wants Krogans kept down. He stutters/talks fast. I don't see it. He's got as much depth as Miranda, or anyone else introduced in ME2.

Just the human nature, they need to come here and tell us how poor character Liara is, since we haven't realized that yet. The funny thing is, that we've, in many cases, already discussed those things that they're complaining about in Liara's behaviour or that are in some other way bugging them
