Just the human nature, they need to come here and tell us how poor character Liara is, since we haven't realized that yet. The funny thing is, that we've, in many cases, already discussed those things that they're complaining about in Liara's behaviour or that are in some other way bugging them :).

There are enough Anti-Liara threads out there. They could at least have the decentcy to keep it out of the Liara Fan thread.

Morinth left Thessia at the age of 40. Asaris leave home at 60.

I consider Asari in 40yrs as 18 in human yrs.
60yrs as 20 human yrs.

110 yrs as 25 human yrs. Like Tali or Jack.

What if rather neutral people posted, like myself?

I don't hate Liara (I like her), but she isn't my favorite chracter. I can think of 3 or more off the top of my head that I like better.

I agree that it's incredibly silly for rabid haters to post on fan threads though.

It's because that, after a while, comisserating with fellow posters who want Liara to die simply because of the fact that she can't die in the previous games looses it's own satisfaction. So, they have to seek out people who disagree with their opinions in order to justify their own singlular point of view.

Well, ofc I can answer from my behalf only, but I don't care if you are a Liara fan or not, anyone can post here since this is a public forum. If you have something to ask about Liara or something you want to discuss that is somehow related to Liara, this is a perfect place for that, as long as we all keep things civilized. So even though your feelings towards Liara are neutral or even if they were a little hostile, you can imo come here and have a conversation and ask about stuff. But when someone comes here just to post hate comments , no thanks. So everyone are free to post but should also remember the fact that this is a fan thread and respect that we like the character, no matter what other people think. I'm not saying that you can only post if you have nothing bad to say about Liara, criticism is a part of a normal, healthy conversation, it's just that this has always been a pretty friendly thread and if someone wants to take part, conversation skills would be nice.

I hope you understood what I meant, since my anwers can sometime be pretty long and complex :P. But anyway, you seem like a reasonable person, feel free to join if you have something you want to discuss.

Let me put it this way. If you're here for a debate, even criticism, it's welcomed here. If you're here to cause hell, and call Liara a creepy, emotional **** that's stalking you, and needs to die, **** off.

Example, I'm not that much of a ME1 Liara fan, nor liked how she acted in ME2. I thought what she was doing in ME2 was pointless, nor liked how she blackmailed me into helping her kill Shadow Broker agents for useless data.

And I know a lot of people felt the same.

As always I support Liara. To me fan wars are stupid, there are some characters I don't like but I don't go into their
fan threads and hate on them.

... and anyway, if you hate a fictional character so much that you cannot help but spew your nonsense everywhere, then something is wrong. There are some characters that i dislike, it doesn't mean that i'm going to go to this character's fan thread and yell MARY SUE all over the place...

You people seem to confuse a monotone voice with lack of depth.

I don't believe anyone's doing that as noones even mentioned her having a monotone voice.

She's a crap character because in ME1 she was the boring 'innocent naive virgin' archetype with little to no backstory and then in ME2 she had a complete and total character rewrite (that was completely ooc) just so she could remain relevent to the story AND THEN in ME3 all the 'developments' that were made with her character in ME2 (becoming the SB) were tossed aside so she could become a squadmate.

I really hate "I hate/love (insert character name here) and so should you." posts.  Hey, another one to add to my list

It's understandable people are trolling/complaining considering the size/depth of Liara's role in ME3 (from the info we have at least).

The best course of action is to ignore them completely.

I would guess he meant the emotional blackmail she tries to use on a paragon Shepard with "If you won't help me find and kill the observer, I will just kill all 5 at once."

In any case I've never really considered that line blackmail.

What she says isn't "if you won't help me then I'll kill all of them" so much as "Since you won't help me, I'll have to kill all of them"

I don't remember the exact line but that's what I got out of it.

Hence, not a threat or a coercion so much as an expression of frustration and a defiant attempt to embrace a degree of ruthlessness that she must have still been uncomfortable with.

The mechanism used for conversations in the game lets you reverse course, but it's hard to draw anything from that fact characterization-wise.

You realize how long this means she spent getting her degree? Do you not remember comments in ME1 as to how rushed Humans seem by comparison to Asari? Asari do things slower...they have 10 times the life span of a Human, and even more compared to a salarian.

What you need to be doing here is some conversion to dog years...it just doesn't compare. You cannot compare Asari years to Human years in terms of maturity and growth. It's apples to oranges.

Frankly, I think people who sit here going I WANNA KILL LIARA WHY CAN'T I are kinda sick, you know? There's someone at work I don't like very much. Doesn't mean I want him dead. I just avoid him. To all the people whining about how they can't kill Liara: there are DAMN good reasons that Bioware hasn't killed her, and I've enumerated them at least three times. Also, you're sick. Go find a phsyciatrist, and without meaning this as an insult in any way, I don't want to know people who sit around wishing they could kill a video game character.

It does seem vaguely familiar, now that you mention it.

I have never heard this line in over nine playthroughs. I'm assuming you have to tell her no before you hear it, and I've never told her no.

It would depend on how it's delivered, I suppose. "Help me or I'll kill all five" is different than "If you don't help me I'll have to kill all five." At worst, it sounds like an ultimatum, not blackmail. And even then, it would only be an ultimatum to a Shepard who is so altruistic as to automatically care about the fate of five suspects.

Yeah the avoiding him bit unfortunately isn't possible since BW feels the need to force her (and a railroaded friendship) down my Shep's throat.

Maybe ME3 will change this but I doubt it. That tweet was nice and all but certain things contradict it. It only seems to apply for certain characters which is BS. It should apply for everyone or no one at all. So my resentment at least isn't simply because she's there. If she was easily ignored (like say Jack or Shep had a variety of ways to treat her in every game she appeared in) I'd have no qualms. If she must be a forced friendship I want the option to kill her to kill said forced friendship (like I can with Garrus, Tali and Wrex). Ideally though there would be no forced friendship so such measures aren't necessary.

As for the sick thing...some will say the same about giggle squeeing over a virtual character and their Shep's romance with her. Kind of amuses me when anyone on a VG forum decides to call someone weird and sick. [in regards to anything that's not RL anyway. Not like the pixels can actually be hurt/love anyone back]

That said I don't see the point in complaining in the Liara thread. There's more relevant threads for complaining about Liara's sole can't die status.

Correct. I didn't want to get involved with Liara's plan of killing a random agent, just to grab data to kill someone else. I had nothing against the Shadow Broker, despite trying to sell my corpse, nor did I believe her way of doing things would get the actual results she wanted. So I said no.

And then she threaten to kill all those guys if I don't help her. Didn't like that.

Didn't like it even more when all 5 weren't the person she was looking for.

The way I saw it, you'd have to be someone like Cerberus if you wanted to find the Shadow Broker. Because killing a bunch of agents and getting their data isn't going to do it, unless you get lucky. If someone else in the galaxy is after the Shadow Broker, they've already done what Liara's doing right now, and more. Because unlike Liara, who's mostly acting on Illium, Cerberus is gathering info all over the galaxy. Yet those people still didn't get the Shadow Broker. It took Cerberus giving her info they gathered in order for her to finally find him.

So to me, killing the observer for data was pointless. If she did find a real lead that way, it would be out of luck

Then add in the fact that I don't like taking lives, unless I have to.
