If there was no Reaper thread, I'd be flying around with Nihilus, probably still trying to be a Spectre while Liara could've possibly died in that levitating bubble trap.

Actually, Liara would most likely just be studying prothean artifacts on Therum. Since she only got trapped because Saren's goons were chasing her. And if they did not exist...

More unlikely since she would not be on the run for her life.
Beside, did she actually work alone? The camp seemed pretty large.

I think so, I don't think there were any bodies, right?

I agree. If not for the Reapers Shepard and Liara might never meet.Eclipse merc wrote...

Definitely. Shepard would never have met Liara if not for Saren. Hell if not for Saren he would've grabbed that prothean beacon, delivered it to the council and probably be made a spectre for a job well done. Then he would've been sent out somewhere in the traverse to investigate pirates or what not and dissapear from public view. The End.
Instead he was sent to a planet to pull some information from a scientist studying the protheans and it turned out this scientist is an Asari, and a hella cute one at that. Life can be interesting

Since she mentioned several times she liked the solitude of working alone on remote digs I doubt she would've had a team with her. However Therum is a human controlled planet, it's possible the camp belonged to a mining team who found the prothean tower but left before the Geth arrived for whatever reason. I don't think they were with Liara in any case.

Sheps life would be pretty boring without Saren and the Reapers that's for sure

So now we've got death, destruction, excitement and a beautiful romance plot with an equally beautiful Asari that needs to unfold. And I for one am very exited to see where it leads. So bring on march 9!
If there was no Reaper threat and the universe was perfect, where would your Shepard have taken Liara on their first date?
I noticed no one actually answered your question. So if we imagine Liara and Shepard met as they did but without the whole Saren, Reaper stuff, I would've taken Liara on a classic human date like getting a bite to eat or drink or watching a movie. Liara is very curious, I think she'd be very interested to see some human planets and customs.

Well, I wouldn't call being an Alliance marine or a spectre exactly boring. I think that would've still been quite exciting, but it certainly wouldn't have been fighting-the-reapers-saving-the-galaxy-and-every-living-being-from-a-certain-destruction-kinda exciting.
Darn, got kinda ninja'd by Robhuzz

I was gone for quite a while, missed getting ninja'd did you?
Anyway, for those who haven't seen it yet: New BioWare pulse episode here. It's about voice acting this time and it has relatively large amount of Liara footage from both Lotsb as well as ME3. Especially the holding hands and hug part from Lotsb really make me want to replay ME1 and 2, but I promised myself I wouldn't do another run until next month...

C'mon, let us stop this "which one is better for Liara" thing, shall we. What does it matter who likes to romance with Male Shep and who with Fem Shep? Absolutely nothing. We all have our own Shepards and we all love Liara, that's all that matters in this thread, right?
Same goes to Meer's voice acting sucks, Hale's voice acting sucks, Meer's VA is superior, Hale's VA is superior-topics. It's just the matter of taste. I, as a male, can identify myself better with Male Shep, than Fem Shep, obviously (at least that's obvious to me...) and I believe that same goes to female gamers vice versa. But arguing which one is better is like arguing who likes the beatles and who likes the rolling stones... Some like both (like I think both Meer and Hale's VA is pretty good. I prefer the rolling stones to the beatles though).
But anyway, the fact is Male Shep FTW. Period. ...Nah, just kidding
You are my new "crush"!
I play both Shepards (made a male Shepard for Ash since she was not open to femshep) and I like both Meer & Hale. They both have their moments in the role of Shepard and I have laughed at some great lines that each have given in-game. When it comes to "identifying" ... for me it is Femshep since I'm female but I really do love my male Shepard (Piers V.). I have set him up to be like the person I have admired most in my life ... my grandfather - strong, honorable and a protector of the weak. A good and honest man is a thing of beauty!
No matter who loves Liara (Male/female Shepard or Feron) though, I'm okay with that ... except in my EW & Liara world. In that world there is no male Shepard and Feron will need to walk carefully. If EW Shepard thinks that there is something funny going on between the two then it will not go well. Just sayin' ...
I can't even let another Shepard go with Liara since it would feel like she was cheating on EW Shepard. Odd, I know. I can't believe how close we are to ME3 ... In the meantime, I have just purchased the new Star Wars game and hopefully tonight after work I can check it out. It still won't make this wait easier ... I want to know why Ali needed that smoke! And why Kimberly Brooks (Ashley Williams) joked that while she drank water while recording her lines in the studio, Hale had "hot" water while doing hers. Hale must be really steamy in ME3.

Damn ninjas are everywhere, have to be careful with 'em you know, you never know when they're gonna attack you, they're hiding around every corner. Damn ninjas in their black pyjamas doing their ninja stuff with their ninja weapons eating ninja food
Ehm.. Some one would like to tell me wtf I'm talking about here...
I've got a bad habbit of getting ninja'd, 'cause everytime I start to post, I discover something more interesting or someone starts to talk to me in facebook or something and it takes like half an hour to post a simple post and then I realise dozen people have already said what I meant to say first
