Pretty much this ^ In Lotsb its worth cheating purely to see Liara's reactions. In LOTSB Ican't figure out how to get the "maybe we will be together again someday, but I just want you to be happy' dialouge in LOTSB (Well something like that anyway)

I'm inquisitive by nature, so I like M.E's variables.

When I read that reference to the love triangle I thought it was referencing a playthrough where Shepard led both Liara and the VS on all the way up to the confrontation. I could see where the person that was no longer with Shepard would still have some type of feelings for Shepard.

If Shepard picked Ashley and now in ME3 you have both Ash & Liara on board will there be mention of that history? Or if you picked Liara over Kaidan, etc. And then say you can romance the person that you previously did not choose or now have the option of same sex romance with the VS.

If FemShep has a chance to connect now romantically with Ashley ... Will she dump Liara? How would that play it? Or will she take Kaidan now over Liara? Or the other way around?

The Normandy will be a rough ship to be on.

I tried that several times. Made a new Shepard to do a full playthrough and wanted to romance Ashley for a change. Or have no romance and romance Tali or Miranda in ME2. Didn't work out. I'm not 100% sure since I always go for "I've got fond memories of the last time you put pressure on me" dialogue option immediately. But I think that's a piece of dialogue you can only get if you break up with Liara by either telling her to 'just be friends' or having 'no hard feelings' if you didn't cheat on her with someone else. Also the paragon intterupt kiss just after the fight with the Shadow Broker may change some of the dialogue. It's just trial and error in that case.

I would imagine this so called love triangle from ME1/2 would be between your ME1 and ME2 LI's if you cheated. I can't imagine Ashley coming back to Shepard now. She has to be over it, it's been 2,5 years, she'll just get turned down again anyway so what's the point?

I mean, she's talking seriously with her true voice, and without hesitations, nor preparation, she continues talking in Liara's voice! I love her doing that! (you can see that in youtube, she did it for an interview in the last Comic Con on November, also with Jen Hale, that was really hot:wub:)

I am talking about the dialog in ME3 if  you show interest or romance in Kaidan and you had Liara as your LI in ME1.

I get that BioWare wants to give new players (starting with number 3 in a trilogy is lame imo but I digress) the option of romancing Ashley, Kaidan and Liara and that's prefectly fine with me.

But what I don't understand is: Why waste time on love triangles in the first place? If you romanced Liara in ME1, reaffirmed that romance in Lotsb and then try to move on to Ashley in ME3 (for whatever reason) Liara should just confront you the minute you start expressing interest in Ashley, not wait around until you're about to jump in bed with Ashley and then confront you - Even though that would be incredibly funny.

I think it's also due Liara's character to object asap since she wasn't too pleased with cheating!Shep in the first place. This way any potential love triangles would be cut short, that just leaves the ME1 vs. ME2 LI (if you cheated) to be solved. Love Triangles between your old LI (who is present on the ship) and a new LI from ME3 would just be rediculous...<_<

Oh, I'm all for lots of romantic drama. Keeps things interesting! I just completed a playthrough where I cheated on Liara with Garrus, then reaffirmed relationship with Li in LotSB. Can't wait to see how it plays out in ME3. I don't think Garrus is the type to get involved in dramas, but from the gameplay footage we've seen it looks like you can have Liara and Garrus in your team a lot of the time. Something's gotta give eventually...

Triangle with the VS sounds awesome, too. If only because I would quite like to see Liara slap Ashley's ass with a singularity. Goddess, that would be amusing.
