Liara was a bit intimidated by Ashley at first, especially from her distrust of aliens and how open she was about it. She had over heard Ashley and Shepard talking once, and when Ashley had mention her distrust of Liara, because she was the daughter of an enemy, Katelyn defended Liara and scolded Ashley for not trusting in her judgment. After that they had began to warm up to each other.

You know, Liara is pretty open about how she felt about humans before she really got to know them on the Normandy. How long did she keep that opinion before she started to change? Do you think that given Ash's "bluntness" and Liara's "honesty" that there may have been some tense moments between the two at the beginning?

I love both characters and I just think that poor Shepard, Dr. Chakwas and even Joker might have had to diffuse some moments between the two. Posted Image

Agreed, it's pretty intense. I've always wondered what Shepard looked like when Liara found the body. After that, I'm not sure I want to know anymore.

When Liara gave the body to Cerberus, Jacob said that Shepard was nothing but meat and tubes.  I'm not sure if Liara actually saw the body, I thought it was in a body bag or something like that.

Ah yes.. The day Commander Shepard supposedly suffered mutliple explosions aboard the crumbling normandy, only to suffocate to death and fall on a planet thus permanently dying.. we have dismissed these claims.

I have the comics, Shepard's body is in a coffin similar to the one on the Normandy if someone dies during suicide mission.

I think you got something mixed up, and it would be my bad for not specifying..

Liara was intimidated by Ashley because Ashley was openly distrustful of aliens.

How did others see Liara's relationships on the Normandy?

Liara was good friends with Kaidan. Appreciating his calm and good nature which also helped give her a far better view on humans. How they will fare together in ME3 is yet to be seen.

There were slight hostility and tension between her and chief Williams in the start. Ashley being mistrustful of Liara in the start and being slightly jealous. The jealously ended quickly when it was clear Shepard had no romantic interest in Ash. Despite these shortcomings both parties became (if grudgingly) more friendly to each other as time when by. This possible friendship sadly ended with Ashley's death on Virmire. Whatever rivalry Liara had with Ash. She admired the dedication, loyalty and self-sacrifice Ashley showed to whatever end.

Liara and Garrus were nothing more than respected co-workers. Althrough this will likely change in ME3.

Liara respected that grumpy and cynical old Krogan named Wrex. Suprised at the loyalty Wrex showed on Vimire. Where he was willing to continue following Shepard despite Saren having a cure for the Genophage.

Tali and Laira became friends first and quickest. Presumeably because both felt somewhat like outsiders onboard the ship in the start. Tali might have had some burried jealousy of her due to the Asari's relationship with Shepard. Hopefully the Quarian have come over this by ME3.

This is just own personal view on Liara's relationship with the ME1 squadmates.

I think Ash's attitude is mostly due to lack of exposure, and would be heavily influenced by the camraderie that is formed after several weeks of working together.  That and I imagine Shepard's attitude towards aliens would soften her stance.  I can see a few sparks flying early on, but nothing that would be unprofessional.

No, I understood ... I wasn't challenging what you said, but taking that further with both their views and moments of "bluntness" (ie, no filters). Sorry if it seemed that way, but looking at some duels on BSN, you can never tell. Posted Image

Liara knew that people distrusted her because of Benezia and I could see where Ash would intimidate her in that regard. I always wondered how careful Liara must have tried to be when in common areas, and if she would have put her foot-in-mouth like with Shepard. Or was that something that only Shepard inspired?

While Shepard thought those mis-steps were cute, I'm thinking Ash may have not laughed. Posted Image

That is how I see both, even Liara admits to her own change of heart after being around humans. That is why I think that eventually they would come to a mutual respect but I don't see them as friends.
But that is just in my ME world ... Posted Image

I have not read the comic.  Seen bits of it here and there.  I did order it over the weekend as a TPB, so I am hoping to get it back the end of the week or early next week.  I was sure Liara didn't actually see Shepard's body.

Or as the anti-Liara crowd would just call her a stalker.  =]

My femShep forgave Liara as soon as she told Shepard how she ended up with Cerberus.  I should write a fanfic about their talk in more detail.  Maybe I will do that after reading the comic once I get it.

The only thing about this piece of art, which is grand by the way, is Liara having that fugly Cerberus logo on her outfit.  URGH to Cerberus.

I kind of wrote a fanfic about how my FemShep handled the whole thing with Liara telling her how she ended up with Cerberus. And the way I described it was Shepard was so confused and upset by everything that had happened and she took it out on Liara (You did this to me!) but then she felt bad for it in the end, and apologizes for it in a separate fanfic (I'm sorry I yelled at you, you were trying to do the right thing).

I always tell her there's nothing to forgive. "You did the right thing Liara. My mission is important. I wouldn't be able to do it if you haven't been able to give me to Cerberus".

I used to pick that but whenever I replay the game. I never pick the option that leads up to her telling about Cerberus.

Ya usually I forgive her too, but one day I wasn't paying close enough attention or something and chose the, "I blame you" option.. so it kind of gave me an idea for a short one shot.

Really the option worked out better then I could've though in the end the way I've imagined my Shepard and how things play out in the games. Like Katelyn Shepard (my main Shep) is a renegade anyways so she kind of shuts off her emotions and then it gets to a boiling point during that scene

I have one renegade Shep that told her off at that point.  She said she was sorry more than one, but he didn't care.  But all the others forgave her, espeically the ones that romanced her. Posted Image

I'm loving that pic.... just wish there was a paragon version of it.

Seeing Liara with a Cerberus logo.... *shivers* ..... still amazing work, though.
