Uhh.... I dunno.... o.o

I'm happily plowing through my Shep/Liara run in ME2 right now :) It takes forever to get to LOTSB... I haven't even gotten Jack yet.

I so want to see what type, if any, interaction Liara has with the other characters. Can you see her around Jack?

Shepard: "This is Jack."
Liara: "That's Jack?"
Jack: "Hey."
Liara: "Hey what?"
Jack: "What?"
Liara: "What?"
Jack: "You fvck1n with me?"
Liara:Image IPB
Shepard: "Ugh ... good to see you Jack. Liara, this is Thane."
Thane: "Sunlight. Water glistening on Shepard's body ..."
Liara: Image IPB
Shepard: Image IPB
Jack: "Fvck ya!"

I think Liara would already know everything about *Insert Squadmate/character here*. I'm concerned about her personality now.

Reading un-refined text is one thing, but when you add voice, tone, and body-language it becomes something else entirely.

Liara really is the only character that truly loves Shepard. That is why I love her.

Some may call it "obsessive" but I think it's more of an unconditional love.

Absolutely. No other character comes close, despite all the VS apologists and there are so many of them!

Since people have been discussing that there is a small chance that both Liara and Shep will survive I'm just curious to know what ye all think about it. Like would ye be ok with it if it was done properly or feel like killing one of them off was a bit clichéd or unnecessary considering Bioware are aware of the importance players place on the romance relationships? And do you think that will be the kind of ending that will happen?

Also I uploaded a Liara/FemShep tribute video if anyone is interested in checking it out.

No. Both Liara and Shepard will survive in my playthrough. Period!

If there are moments where a squadmember dies unless you use the cliche paragon/renegade dialogue option I think I'll pass on that option deliberately, making the game a bit more dramatic. Of course I will stop at nothing to make sure Liara survives.

This. I guess some people don't understand what unconditional love is, so their first reaction is that the person is obsessed. Whether you romanced Liara or not, she has to be the most dedicated of the squadmates period. Tali comes in as the next closest imo. Everyone else just said F*** Shepard after he supposedly "died"

Wrex too of course, but there was only one person who went looking for Shepard. Liara

Miranda counts too, but she was given an order by the Illusive man to track Shepard down.

Liara went on her own to get him. THAT IS FRIGGIN DEDICATION!!

Some of live in the real world where soldiers do, in fact, occasionally and sadly, die. Whilst tragic, it's part of life that Ash/Kaidan understand; they were able to let go (sane healthy), Liara was not (not sane healthy).

Nope. Perfectly Sane. Dedicated is the operative word. She loved.

I'm not saying no one else cared for Shepard, but none of them truly knew what happened to him. Liara went to make sure, the others just said, what the hell.

I don't really think Liara's actions after Shepard's death were particularly down to love. After all, she shows similar dedication of Feron's behalf.

Not to say that she doesn't love Shepard, of course.

Exactly. All the VS apologists can say what they want but the fact is, the VS gave up on Shepard, didn't do a follow-up.

Not enirely true...Garrus kind of devoted his life to Shepards teachings after he died and formed his own team in Shepard's honor to fight injustice. Wrex went back to Tuchunka to help his people after Shepard convinced him to do so. Tali went back and told the flottila about the reapers and how they needed to prepare which the whole "take back the homeworld" debate into question.....But the VS seriously did nothing, they just went on living their life. Liara obviously did the most but Garrus and Wrex did honor his death through their actions

Love for friends as well, after all friend Shepard gets saves too. She is loyal and unconditional, whether it is platonic or romantic love. She isn't just about following orders like ahem...some people are.

Sorry, changed that from "sane" to "healthy".

Liara couldn't let go; it's understandable, and happened to work out in this instance but that doesn't make it the right decision everyone else should have taken as well.
Would you want your partner to risk their life (remember Redemption) on the off chance that Al-Qa'ida might be able to save your life by turning you into some cyborg abomination?

I agree. Garrus is my Shepard's best friend and always 2nd in command. The VS is the worst of all of them though, you are right.

I wouldn't say Garrus honered anything really, he gave up after a couple of months and decided he would rather be a vigilante on Omega.

That said, I don't blame or hate any of the characters (maybe slightly disappointed in Garrus). For all they knew, Shepard was dead and that was it.

Oh yeah I am with you on that. I totally agree that they all loved him or if love is too strong a word, they respected and honored him. Each of them, the VS included. My point is that Liara is much more dedicated and "concerned" for the sake of NOT using the word love for those that didnt romance Liara.

She did a follow up. She is a more "thorough" friend imo. If I had to ever choose a friend, romance or not, Liara tops that list. She cares about those that she serves with and those that do for her. We rescued her in ME1, she returned the favor to the 10th power. Same with Feron, he saved her life, she returned the favor. She is the definition of a true friend. Good friends also make the best lovers and romances too. I speak from experience. :P

Honor or not, the others went on with their lives.

Yes, because that's the healthy reaction when faced with the death of a lover/friend.

Seriously, you are scaring me now.

People (especially VS people) who criticise Liara (I hear it all the time) for being unhealthy in her interest in Shepard are just taking ****ty real life values and applying them to her. In real life there are no Liaras but PLENTY of VS folk who drop you like a hat but that is realistic so they prefer it, go figure!

Wasn't Liara's motivation in Redemption at first just to find Shepard's body so it could be given a proper burial, and thereby letting her get some closure?

Not seeing the problem with that.

That is not true. THat is only true if you are on assignment. You need to let go in order to function properly and be an effective team member.

To say that a healthy reaction to death is to move on is not entirely true. You move on eventually, but not right away. If that was the case, an argument can be made as to how much you truly loved (hence present argument). Love doesn't turn off because you tell it to. You mourn for a while and for those that care, given the chance they will find out or at least be determined to find out what happened and to at least confirm death.

You are scaring me. You do have loved ones right?
Glad I am not your brother, cause if I was to die and no one could locate my body, you'd just say, eh what the hell, he's in heaven I guess... WTF!!
