Okay guys I'm on my final runthrough of ME2. Going to do a kaiden romance (via Genisis) just so I can dump him in ME3, and get with Liara. So any suggestions for femsheps name/bkg/ and class?

Someone has to try all these horrible things, so the faithful ones don't have too.

speaking of the movie which actress in history would you most like to play Liara, doesn't have to be a realistic choice like say me for instance i would think Ingrid Bergman if she were still alive could do a great job as Liara.

Olivia Wilde

With Tron she's got some experience acting in a Sci Fi movie (and was great in that), and from certain angles she actually looks similar to Liara. Olivia Wilde also has strikingly beautiful eyes, which would pretty much be a requirement for anyone who plays the character IMO.

Eh I gotta go with Ali Hillis for Liara.  I mean come on!   She's a tv and film actress too!  Plus she's basically made the character hers with her voice acting plus she's gorgeous to boot!

Slap some blue paint on that chick and telll her to have at it!

@Han Shot First

That's the girl from House M.D. right?

Okay, she's really beautiful I'll give her that much, but other than that, she's just ...meh IMO.

@Yuqi

Make a spacer, sole survivor/ruthless, infiltrator, cold, efficient and calculating, get the job done at any cost, duty first type of badass sniper chick? Then you'll just run around the galaxy with a big sniper rifle sniping people, pew pew!  And as for the name, I've always been bad with names so... :?.

And if you want to go it true as fast as possible, skip all the side missions, skip dialogues (i.e. hit space/whatever that button is in consoles continuously), don't scan planets any more that you have to... idk, just try to run it through without trying to find every single little thing (credits, lockers, minerals etc.) "hidden" in the missions and don't stop to admire anything, just move forward.

Edit: Have to agree with karmen here.

Vanguard is my favourite class. Name? I don't know. I named my female Shepard after Elisa Maza, one of my favourite Characters. You could name her after someone you like, too.
Background: Personaly I don't like the Earthborn/War Hero background.
For Liara I choose: Spacer, someone who is very dutiful and Torfan, somebody who will make hard choices. Because that's what Liara did and I like to think that the melding with my Shep changed her.
Bonus points if Spacer Mom is in ME3

@Han, if they are going to use actors it should be Liara's face model, with Ali Hillis voice.
The only reason for me to watch that movie would be the original VAs.

Ali Hillis is an attractive woman but she doesn't look anything like the character. Also whoever plays Liara would have to have strikingly beautiful bone structure in her face, because she'd be playing a character that is basically bald, and would still need to look attractive. No offense intended to Ms. Hillis but quite frankly I don't think she'd becapable of pulling that off.

I'd rather a movie didn't get made at all, or at least had a story not related to the Shepard Trilogy.

But if there is a film based on the Mass Effect games, it would have to be without most of the voice acting cast. With voice acting you don't have to cast actors that look the part they are playing. With film of course that is a big part of the consideration when it comes to casting decisions. Also a lot of voice actors aren't that well known outside of their voice acting work, and as such, aren't really a draw at the box office. Major roles like Shepard & Liara would go to people with some name recognition in Hollywood. You can just about guarantee that Shepard wouldn't be played by Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale, and Ali Hillis wouldn't be playing Liara.

There is no question about it, that they're will be no VAs in the movie. But you wanted to discuss choices. I think the possibility that Ali Hillis playing Liara is equally to Olivia Wilde.

(What is the quickest way to get through ME2?)

Keeping an old pre-LotSB save? Otherwise, casual difficulty with vanguard (a lot of mobs don't even spawn if you get to their position fast enough)

Name? I'd say Alex (Thus, my choice of pseudonym)

Background? I'd like to pick earthborn but I can't quite get past some issues (mainly education) so I'd say spacer.

A lot of good suggestions already; lower difficulty, Vangaurd, forget some sidequests... Use the ME Wiki to identify some of the important ones. I think some sidequests may be important to ME3 - like the Batarian/Aliance nuke may be important. Save the facility, not the main city. KEEP THE BASE. Others you can do for bonuses, but are not necessary on normal or lower dfficulties.

Scan at minimum to upgrade the ship.

If there are any squadies you don't want, you can skip up to 4. Zaeed, Kasumi, Thane and Samara.

As for name, this is a personal choice, but if you do pick spacer put yourself in Hannah's shoes and see what she comes up with.

I've also grown fond of the spacer background; because of mom bonus and it gives Shep an intense dutybound nature; She's also the ruthless Butcher... Earthborn would have been more believable if s/he were in a boot camp prison and found her/his way there.

I'm also playing a similar 'fast' run as you right now (1 of 2 I have left before ME3) but as an Adept (my first biotic). She is a hard core duty bound Marine and, similar to kumquats suggestion, does whatever it takes to get the job done. She is so Aliance her blood is blue and in her mind she's stringing TIM along, not the other way around. She a Renagon, protects innocent life but won't hesitate to vent a mercs head - armed or not. She also does not leave loose ends, so some Cerberus agents and more questionable mercs she has on board will not survive the SM.

Have fun, I'm off to spill some merc blood.

Jillian Murray would have to play the role Liara... Its her face model anyway. So why not? If she can't act then that is one thing, but other than that, there would be no one better.

Here is her in motion if you need more convincing

I prefer them hiring an actress that can play the part well, then hire an actress that "looks" like Liara, but can't act worth ****, nor play Liara well.

I think she can pull it off. This is not like the Chobot thing. Jillian actually has some quality acting work on her resume.

I've never seen anything with Jillian in it. So considering the fact that my first choice is quite obviously dead I'd love to see Emma Watson in the role although i think Olivia Wilde would fit very well also

Like Wild Things: Foursome?

I've also 'regretfully" seen American Highschool. Nothing about it would make me vote her to play Liara.

I'm just saying, there's a lot of actresses out there that could do the part justice, that "being an exact look alike" shouldn't be an requirement. All she has to do is look similar enough, as well as capable of portraying Liara as a character.

In think Sarah Jones from Alcatraz would make a good Liara. She has the right eyes. While I haven't seen that much of her acting, it hasn't disappointed so far.

Agreed. Not to mention that whomever it is will be covered in blue, a scull cap, tentacles and anything not quite right can be addressed via CGI. I actually think directors are more important than acting skills, as I've seen some good actors suck and bad actors do really well thanks to direction - raw tallent is nice though, as we've seen with Hillis and Hale. In my opionion, getting as close to the voice we all know and love would be more important than anything else. A talented enough actress could do it with practice. Singers have an advantage, but vocal cords are a muscle, and altering tone and pitch is not much different than changing accents. Putting all three together = challenge unless they just take the logical way out and go with Ali.

I don't know how much truth there is to the 'no VAs in the movie' but it's too bad. Both Anderson and Hacket have awesome voice presence and the VAs are both actors with solid screen preformaces. Same with Bailey (Mike Hogan of Beach Combers/Battlestar Galactica), actually.

The actress needs to be a paragon of cuteness. Let's face it, even when Liara is angry, she is adorable.
And she needs a sexy voice.

I stoped watching TV, because of the reality shows and casting BS. So I have no idea who could pull that off....

I don't care whatever actor plays Liara (Jillian Murray, Sarah Jones, Olivia Wilde..) or another one, the only thing I just want to see is that actor playing one Liara that us players can recognize with pride and say "wow this is our Liara" :D because i've seen movies with actors didn't put their best in the characters...

Regarding LI in the movie, I'd like it being Liara too but I think they'll be the VS choice, depending sheps gender, just because is a movie and they'll play human relationship just for marketing... It's easy for directors doing that than trying xenofilic relationships, being afraid by the "what criticism will say"

Not necessarily.

Avatar featured a human/alien pairing, and don't forget about the infamous Captain Kirk. lol

If the filmmakers went with MaleShep I'd actually bet on Liara being his love interest in the film. If they went with FemShep it would almost certainly be Kaidan, though. Having the lead be in a lesbian relationship would be too big of a risk for them, that there is probably no chance that they'd take it.

Speaking of Avatar...if a Mass Effect film ever gets made, stand by for criticism from morons who never played the games, that will accuse the Asari of being a Nav'i ripoff despite ME being older than Avatar.

I agree. I hope Liara is Shepard's LI in the Mass Effect film.
