Why is that option even there? Guess BW had to cater to the Liara haters a bit as well. But no decent person would ever make Liara that sad would he? Okay, I think it's time for a happy subject.... Just having trouble coming up with one.

" instead of "Cmon we won't survive this" then the at least the tone of the conversation is much different. Then Shepard is equally honest but in a more friendly way.

Of course it's the honest answer.
Liara knows they don't have a chance against the Reapers, she knows they will probably die.
But she wants just a view minutes of happyness with the person she loves. So my Shepard tells her what she needs to hear and not the truth they both already know.
