I have a question. Apparently you can choose what weapons you want your squad to use in Mass Effect 3, what weapons are you guys going to give Liara? Also, which of Liara's biotic powers will you upgrade first? Personally I'll probably going to give her an assault/sniper rifle and an SMG, as for powers, I'll upgrade singularity and warp first, maybe stasis or pure biotic later.
I'll probably equip her with a SMG. I've skipped the demo but from what I understand (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is that the different classes have a different weight limits on what they can carry as far as gear, and the heavier the weapoibs the slower the recharge on your abilities. If that is the case I'm going to want to keep her lightly equipped so that she has maximum recharge for warp & singularity. If there is a difference between carrying a smg or a pistol as far as cooldowns go, I may equip her with a pistol instead, especially if the difference is significant.

Like you I have also skipped the demo but from what I understand all classes except soldier can wear 2 weapons without suffering longer cooldowns on abilities. I hope this is the same for squadmembers because, if ME2 is any indication, a squadmember with only a pistol (anti armor) or only an smg (anti shields/barriers) isn't going to be too useful in combat. I hope I can simply equip Liara with a pistol and an smg and she can still use her abilities all the time and I'll be one happy panda

You're sort of right about the 2 weapons thing. As long as you don't give her a sniper rifle and a shotgun you should be fine, but then again, why would anyone do that? Couldn't imagine Liara with anything else than sidearms

Also I'm really curious what the PR guys are planing for the not unlikely event that one of those balloons lands in a lake or on the roof of a tall building or in the middle of a friggin' six lane highway ... or in a Rancor cage, you never know

ME1. Wouldn't necessarily give her a bulky Mattock though...

lol yersterday I got 40K and I spend it in 2 veterans but no asari adept indeed... Hope you have better luck than me. I played with someone with an Asari adept an man, silver round was pretty easy with it...
(I'd like to be on that game when people of the clan plays a full asari commando unit, this would be epic)
I don't think I've unlocked any of the others. It's not been important to me. The drell looks pretty badass in action though. I would definitely play as an Asari, but not an Adept. If the race/class offers better options than my human female Vanguard, I'll switch up. Eventually I'll run through them all, but I'm a close quarter fighter. I rely on a mix of talent in games to protect me from a distance so that I actually can do my job; which is dive in head first, shotgun and melee anything that moves and hope I don't get owned.
When I only cary my shotgun (I was using it and a Mattock last night and don't like the weight penalty), I can charge every 10 seconds or less with 30% chance of no cooldown. With the right support and enemies to use as transport devices I've even taken on an Atlas that way. Charge in, shoot, dodge, shoot, charge out, killed the merc I used, recover. Rince and Repeat.

I guess it can depend on your play style and ingame experience. I ran with Liara, Tali, and Wrex most of the time in ME1 and they would charge in, shotguns in hand and take down anything; or die trying, with no fear. Even colossus were no mach as they floated hopelessly and were introduced to our shotgun trio. This created a different image for me regarding how Liara is on the battle field; aggressive, capable and fearless. It fit very well with her 'kill them all' banter. She may not be a commando, but she was my canon's shotgun wielding bad ass blue babe.
The "You're scared of us?" dialog was filled with irony for me given I still didn't trust her (1st and subsequent in character playthroughs with Amy Shep). She was pretty intimidating groundside. Her and Wrex chatted it up like Krogan Battle masters and kicked ass. That shuttle banter in the demo couldn't have been more fitting for me headcanon wise, as they were tight. I always suspected Aetheta was her 'father' in ME2 and got goosebumps and tears with the SB Base video reveal. It just all fit with everything I saw before it.
Perhaps more explanation than necessary but hopefully it paints a picture of why she'll get a shotgun or Mattock. Only both with max cooldown bonuses.

To all you others, if the time comes where you have to fight the Illusive Man (only if you have to). Would you then take
Liara with you to kick his ass?

Thourough explanation indeed, can understand how you'd have a different image of Liara in combat
She stayed with the pistol when I played, with most of her contributions to combat being the repeated lifting of all those annoying geth and mercs, just as I prefer. Also I almost never had Liara and Wrex with me at the same time, that might affect my view too I think

Of course, this is a must! If we do fight him, then I would bring Liara and... Tali, I believe. Unless we can bring people that aren't permanent squadmates, then it'd be Jack.

Have Liara and Jack with Shepard. I feel TIM has screwed them over the most. Especially Jack. Since my canon femShep is a soldier, Liara and Jack get to toss TIM around like a rag doll until they both are tired and bored with it. Then Leia Shepard shots TIM right between those goofy eyes of his.l

Asari vanguard isn't unlockable in the demo IIRC.
gonna be giving my asari adept another spin in ME3 multiplayer tonight though, only using a predator ftw

I call my Asari Bubbles T'Soni.
You just need a bubble.
I can hardly wait to give Liara a Carnifex and bubble every enemy and charge in there with my Vanguard.

Well, Widow plus Stasis is rather lethal but you kinda can't take any other guns if you want to be able to use powers more than once a round so that more or less rules out vanguards. Why is everyone picking Asari adept ? >__> No love for Asari vanguard?
Plus, there's no ranged counterpart to the phantom so ranged combat seems safer at the moment

Ooo good question. I kinda feel Liara will still be all serious (obviously with Reapers invading) but hopefully not depressed since she reconciled her guilt over handing you over to Cerberus in LOTSB and got a reunion with her twu luv. So I'm hoping for serious, very mission oriented, but once we're alone, she kinda falls into Shepard's arms with relief and happiness to be reunited! That's my hope!
