I always thought of Shepard in more of a Jason Bourne role or as one of the Enterprise captains although I'm only really fond of Picard and Kirk, hell i gave my canon shep the name Tiberius after the good alien banging captain. But i'm a huge Doctor fan and i just noticed the resemblance to the logos.

I'm cool with Liara or any other character dying in the game, so long as it isn't scripted. Every one on the team should be be a potential casualty this time around (including Shepard), and it should be impossible to get everyone through unscathed.  Some squadmates (and possibly Shepard) should die.

That being said I'd rather player actions and choices have an effect on who lives and dies rather than "character X always dies at point Y," at least among the squad mates.

Well, problem is, it is somewhat scripted.

I have a theory about Dumbledore from Harry Potter. He didn't really die:

Dumbledore, when he is killed by Snape, is sent to the city of the dead, never to set foot in the world of the living ever again. After Harry is "killed" by Voldemort, he makes it there to speak to Dumbledore. That city of the dead is a real place, and not a figment of Harry's imagination.

Interpret that in whatever way you wish.

I liked what I read! Although you need to find another website to post it on, reading it on deviantart was painful with all that annoying code.

Insinuate all you want elsewhere.  I don't believe for a second that's the only ending available.  There will be a way to get Shepard, Liara, and the rest of the crew through.  Bioware hasn't let me down yet. Despite what I have heard about the endings, I am still really excited to play ME3 and see Liara. So here is the kicker, I don't play the game for the endings. Just like I don't read a book like The Great Gatsby for the closing lines. Without the experience of the entire story, the ending parts hold abosolutley no weight or impact, and are simply pretty words/depressing scenarios.

So, despite what I have heard, I am still incredibly excited for ME3. I play for the entire experience of the game, not for its ending.

Hi guys...I would like to add a few comments and ask a question. My comment is that regardless of the ending (good bad or otherwise), I am certain the Liara romance in ME3 will be extremely meaningful given the fact it is a romance that has spanned three games. It ws awesome IN ME, got even better in ME2 (thank you shadowbroker) and even if the romance ending is what the spoilers speculate, it does not change the core of the relationship unlike if they broke up etc...That said it is my understanding that the ending speculation is from a beta tester leak and not he space edition and either way neither could take into account all the variables from the first two games that contribute to how the endings get tweaked in ME3 - until someone plays an import save from 1 and 2, continues the romance in 3 - gets the 5000 perfect readiness score and then says the ending sucks, then that would be a different matter...

you know what cheers me up? knowing that I've waited 2 long years (not really since I discovered ME in September 2011) but yeah, we've waited 2 whole years for ME3 and in ONE WEEK, just ONE we'll have it in our hands, we'll play it, we'll enjoy it, how his SP develops or in his MP in which we all die together.
imo THAT has more value than a simple video telling me whatever BW wants to tell me. Maybe i'll disagree with the ending, maybe I'll enjoy it, we'll see when the time comes

edit: bluewolv, I can't answer you since I don't know what are this leak ending and I don't have any interest of it so please dont answer me telling it, but the only thing I can tell you is that you might have some point in what you say, if not, why we have the oportinity of enjoy the romance in 3 whole games?

and what you said is true, the leak don't count all variables from ME1 and ME2 so we've still have some hope on it

But you are setting yourself up for some serious disappointment if that's the case.

It's amazing how well-written the characters of ME are - we care about them more than the real people we meet in our lives. The amount of activity in these fan threads is a testament to BioWare's writing accumen.

I believe this is supposed to be open to spoilers, but just in case it isn't I'll be vague about 'em.

I totally can't wait to see my Liara again, at all, and to hell with what people are grumbling about in the forums about supposed endgames. I just hope I can keep credit card space open for it, and supposedly for some DLC...
