Wouldn't you rather be surprised then read a spoiler?
You know, it was a genius idea to get consumers to think that they have to avoid spoilers to get the best possible experience - there's really no better way to get them to buy your games uninformed; and a very real way, the ending determines whether a game is fit for purpose (I'm not going to spend much time playing a game with an unsatisfying ending, "high art" be damned; also cf Fallout 3 plot fix DLC aka Broken Steel).
Remember, you are asking me to hand over £60 of my money. It's not about art, but entertainment.
If knowing the plot twists or reading the spoilers ruins the experience then you have bad craftsmanship (e.g. the glorified QTE sequence that is Heavy Rain). I still enjoy reading pterry books - not because they have epic plot twists (not really an option in a universe ruled by Narrativium) but because they're well written and because I enjoy reading them.
