I romanced Liara in the final game (I had Ashley in ME1, then Miranda in ME2). Im so happy I chose this, Liara was amazing in this game, I truly feel in love with her. Bioware delivered amazingly in this department. The whole game is a masterpiece except that the last 8 mins basically ruined the entire series and ended on the worst taste ever. I wish the screen went black like The Sopranos right as Shepard reaches the Catalyst. That honestly would have been better in retrospect than what they wrote, which made me feel like the entire journey was pointless and that it would have been better to just have let The Reapers harvest us.

And if she is available, how to avoid to be more than friend ? I don't want anything wrong with Ashley. I didn't remain loyal for nothing.

Sophistry, but one can only regret one's decisions; one can regret buying the game but not the how the game turned out.

I think most of the scenes that refer to "friendship" do actually work quite well (possibly because I'm weird and have a rather bleak view of "love" - temporary insanity brought on by an evolutionary biochemical response - and value trust much more).

I also kinda get the idea behind the friendship/romance date - a full scale Reaper invasion and the complete destruction of Earth will have an impact, and I can see her looking for real commitment (effectively a seious proposal in contrast to the much more light-hearted dialogue in LotSB) whilst also wanting to give Shep room to be affected by events.

But yeah, it's annoying that it's the same standard romance (flirt, flirt, pre-climax climax) regardless of history.
[More sophistry - because we only ever see crew whilst on duty, we never actually see Liara use the bed in her quarters, so for all we know it is simply standard practise that the XO's quarters are outfitted with a real bed. Besides, since Bioware said that Liara isn't female she obviously can't use the crew showers :innocent:]

I don't think that's an issue in general, as their schedules are all messed up.  Liara does need her own place for the Broker business and I get the impression most of the crew isn't permitted to go into her room (Allers makes a comment about Liara not allowing her into her office).  

That doesn't mean they don't ever spend time in one of their beds.

I do know this.  Kaidan did tell Shepard he wanted to be with her during their lunch date.  Leia turned him down then I talked to Liara after that.  I'm on my 2nd run with canon Shep and this time I'm going to talk to Liara first then Kaidan and see if he still wants Shepard or not.

If Kaidan can tell Shepard he wants her even though he got turned down in ME1, then I'm sure the same can be said about Laira.  I had to choose between them and this Shep has been with Liara since.,

I just made almost 30 new shots from ME3 on what I have recorded so far.

I guess I also don't understand why he/she would even put that in the game. Obviously if the player reconnected with Liara during and after LotSB they want to be together with her. Why do something as silly as what he explains. It's only been six months from LotSB... I'm thinking they aren't going to have gotten tired with each other in that time. Doesn't make any sense to me.

There was more to their relationship than the few "friend' cut scenes.  You can tell how much both care about each other through out the whole game since Shepard and Liara meet each other on Mars. 

Two place in particular you can tell how much Liara cares about Shepard and vise versa.  Mars and Thessia.

2-I don't know.  I romanced Liara in ME1/2.  I don't what Liara says to you.  Guess I can find out with my single Shepard.  I might play her next.

Quick question about the 'date' on the Citadel... Is that the scene where Liara tells Shep some of her childhood memories, and Shep can tell Liara s/he wants to be "more than friends"? Is there any more to it after that, or have I missed something? PM me, plz, if necessary to avoid spoilers. I was under the impression their date was longer than that scene (though I quite liked that scene). Did I miss it?

For me, it was right after confronting Udina on the Citadel. After saving the Council, she sent me an email. Then I met her in the Pressidium Commons.

Yes, after the coup attempt.  I went and recorded that scene.  Smoke from the crash is still noticable.  

I started a new game today and I have Aethytha in this game.  OMG, too damn funny with the dialogue.

I figured I would respond to this because it got me worried until I read some replies earlier in the thread. For my game, the date w/ Liara didn't come immediately after the Udina section. Liara had moved to a new spot in the commons but she only gave me one-liner dialog and no cutscene. I did however have a few cutscenes with other crew members including a date-like lunch w/ Kaiden, even though I let him down. This got me worried that I may have inadvertantly overwritten the Liara romance or that I had read the responses for the cabin scene wrong.

Turns out, I had to do one other actual gunfight mission (Asari monestary in my case) and after that mission, I got the e-mails from Garrus, Javik and Liara to hang on the citadel.

I only say this because I was getting to the point where I was considering whether it was better to go on or restart and I think, based on all the question, there are a lot of people worried about it.

This scene made me want to punch Vega in the face.  You almost got Liara killed you jerk.

Liara is really well done through the whole game, from what I've seen. (A new romance  with liara dosn't get certain dialouge in one cutscene, it's the ' I love you' dialouge I belive.)

I did get the feeling that Liara knew/sensed that

 Shep wouldn't come back. Which was incredibbly depressing, the whole arc reminded me of Tidus/Yuna all over again.

I was like "Noooooo!" But I really got worry about Ashley. She got it worse than Liara. I might love Liara but I also like Ashley and I consider her as a very close friend besides Tali, Garrus, Joker, Wrex, Mordin, and Miranda. I done the the 3some scene with Liara and Ashley in ME1 but of course I chosen Liara at the end, she is the one that I love more and Tali close second.
