Just a theoretical question to everyone in this thread. Lets say that Liara and the Normandy did not end up being stranded on the nameless planet in the ending (instead they just crashlanded on Earth), if so...

How would you people react if the very last scene of the game, instead of being with an old man and his grandchild. Instead was with Liara talking with her young daughter?

Would have made the ending way more bearable in my opinion.

I would have loved this. I've never been one for head canon, but the ending of ME3 has me head canoning a little blue child so darn hard.

Then add this as Anderson's last conversation with Shepard and the ending would be heartbreaking but beautiful.

Hm. I definitely had Tali call Liara the Shadow Broker. I still had to redeclare for Liara, though.

ladyvader: That is such a terribly narrow window... no wonder I missed it. Argh. Well, this settles it. My new renegade male Shepard's just going to have to romance Liara in ME1. I hope that's still possible.

Really?

I know it would not be everyone's cup of tea. But I still think it would be better than the current version.

Bioware needs to make an option for Liara and Shepard to run off to an isolated planet for the ending, and then repopulate the Galaxy, maybe bring some the Normandy Crew along to make it easier

I loved when Shepard was on his bed with Liara looking up at space having that very conversation. That entire scene was amazing in my eyes and it just showed the love Shepard and Liara share so well. Even the facial expressions were enough to show it.

I cannot say enough good things about that scene. The animation was superb. Shepard and Liara linking hands looked perfect, as did the kissing animation. The interplay between Shepard and Liara, like you said, really showed the love they share. In addition, it was extremely gratifying to hear them simply say "I love you" after three games. I thought the really intimate part of the cutscene was done very tastefully, and I have to say I wasn't expecting it to be ME1 style. Although I am glad there wasn't any pink mist, I never liked that, the biotic flares were enough, especially since in my playthrough Shepard was a biotic as well.

The ending really broke my heart, in retrospect. When Liara flashed through Shepard's mind, I couldn't do anything but imagine him thinking "I'm sorry, I'm not going to be able to keep my promise."

I think it might have killed me if he actually had said that.

I think that scene with Anderson is just too long, which is why I prefer the short version.

It would make it even more depressing. After a bad week and having to cancel my vacation and then me3's ending.

@indigowolfe

if Shepard said that, then it would defiantly be like FFX.

This would have been absolutely perfect, I would have loved to hear this. Why did they go and cut it, I wonder?

I'm usually the macho guy who hates "chick flicks" and generally refuse to show emotion in any form but I shed a tear as soon as they both said "I love you." It just topped off the relationship that started off so long ago. My head canon has me smiling because Shepard returns to a distraught, hysterical and crying Liara at which point they embrace...even though he is on the verge of dying from blood loss

Same here.

Why bother setting us up like that, just to knock us down? Seems to cruel.

Holy crap.  I haven't been off for about a day and I don't remember which page I left off on.  Damn.

Loving all the Liara pics though.  I finished my 2nd run and got the Shep lives ending, but Liara is still on the Normandy.  Sorry, Joker, I had to kill EDI in order to kill the Reapers.  I hope you understand.

I got a slightly different final cabin scene with the LotSB rekindle than I did without the DLC being done, but not by much.  Nice to see the slight difference.  I loved Tali calling Liara the Shadow Broker.  :P  I didn't have Tali in the 1st run.  I doubt I will do an no import like BW said we should do.  I've seen what is set up for it and why would I want to do that?

I curious about what your Shepard's response to this....
Image IPB

Liara saying that EDI respects Shepard's privacy unlike me line.  I kept thinking, Liara, this might be my cabin, but as far as I am concerned.  It's our cabin

Did you edit the save or just replayed LotSB without picking any of the extra dialog?

Since you can pick which save within that character file, I picked the file that I had from the ending of ME2 without any of the DLC, so I didn't have any DLC characters or anything else in that import.  Then I imported my 100% complete file and that had everything done from the other two games.  There is a slight difference.

No LotSB, Shepard tells Liara "I love you" first.  LotSB done, Liara says it first.  That was the only difference so far.  Trying to compare the two videos, but I'm having PC issues again.  This laptop is POS.

Thanks, I think that's a great detail to include.

After hearing the endings were bad and a marriage after the ending was almost impossible I thought it was because Liara (and whoever your LI is) ended up dying, and I got extremely worried and almost believed it would happen during the Cerberus Mission (I was really scared). And then when I found out its because Shepard dies and they get separated forever for no apparent reason if shepard lives.

That is really stupid.

Just make sure you pick destroy.

Shepard:There goes the next Shadow Broker.
Garrus: I could have sworn I heard it say "T'Soni"...
Liara: Not funny!

Doesn't the crew of the Normandy get stranded unless you choose "control"? Either way, it doesn't make any sense why the Normandy would be riding a mass relay at that moment. What was Joker's destination? It's inexplicable. It's just a cheap way to separate the character. Headcanon's the key to the ME3 endings, yo.

I don't think it's stupid.  I think it is a very fitting ending.  Liara looks likes she is half way content walking out of the Normandy at the end.

I don't think he was going through a mass relay. I think Joker was just flying at FTL speed. Because Relay shooting is instant.

I've done all three ending and all three the Normandy lands on the same unknown planet with two moons.  Liara walked out of the Normandy on all three endings I've seen with Shepard dying on the Citadel.  (First run)  I finished off my second run this afternoon with picking destroy and Shepard gasping at the end and Liara is still on the Normandy and on some unknown planet.

I think I can headcanon something to work within that ending.  No relays is the one thing I need to figure out how to work it and have it make sense without making it super cheesy.

What planet are they on?  It's not Earth.  We don't have a duel moon.  Or are they?  Hmmm...

When people started saying Liara was getting worse ending treatment then other characters, I was thinking she was going to have a forced death, or breaks up with Shepard at the end despite loyalty.

Now that I know the real ending, I don't think it's that bad. I just wish there was more closure to what exactly happened. Because Shepard being alive doesn't matter to me.

Anyways, I'm just happy Liara is alive, and has a chance to stay that way. That's what I was fighting for.
