What's the trigger for starting a new romance in ME3?

With Liara? I think it's the same for everyone (even the ones already romancing her, happens with all the previous games LIs) you need to talk to her in the Citadel when she's looking at the lake.

I know that everyone in the ME-unverise has to wear, er, science ficiton-y clothing all the time, but I would just kill to see Liara in a dress. It doesn't have to be super frilly or anything, just slightly more feminine. Even just as a one time thing.

Also - and maybe this applies to all the love interests - but I wish you could, if you wanted, be more lovey-dovey with her. Especially with male Shepard, outside of romance-specific dialogue, he treats her the same way romance or not. Just once I'd like to say, "Could you hack this terminal for me, honey?" I know some people might find that annoying, but when you're in love, you can be forgiven for being annoying.

Yep. In ME3 they should be more than couple through whole game*, not friends on the beginning, couple in the middle and bondmates in the ending.

*If you romance with her in ME1&2 - if patch fixes LotSB first dialogue, maybe it will be more interaction like "honey" but now we can

Would Liara think of that so soon? I'm not sure about that. I'm NOT saying she's going to commit suicide or anything even remotely close to this, but she will be depressed and cold for a long time (long in Asari terms BTW).

I think Liara was prepared for something bad happening to Shepard...  In the beginning of the game she mentions how hard the war will be on the two of them.  I would say this is the reason she seems a bit reluctant to get serious with Shepard.

Still, she will mourn though I think she'll keep herself busy with tasks to keep her mind off of it.

With all the dreams Shepard endures, and the comments Shepard makes, Liara was already begining to lose him/her. Whether Renegade or Paragon, Shepard will say:

'You wont be alone long Thane'
'I'll rest when I'm dead.'
ect ect.

"You won't be alone long Thane" really hit where it hurts the most, as it could be anyone, not just Shepard.

I believe that with "I'll rest when I'm dead" means Shepard thinks he/she has too much to do, enough to think resting is a waste of time, not that he/she'll die soon.

You think Shepard and a romanced Liara are functionally bondmates by the end of ME3?  That's interesting.  They could have rebuilt somewhere nice to have their wedding, but alas...

Speaking for my Shepard she was certain she would die by the end of the war and the only hope she had was that her death would be meaningful.

Though, you are correct that those lines could be interpreted otherwise.

Speaking of which, isn't there a reason about why the Asari population is so "low"? In their home planet there are little more than 6 billion of them (less populous than Earth with 11 billion), considering they live for more than 1000 years that tells us that perhaps such numbers come from the fact that the mother creates a very tight bond with the daughter, and having more than one when young could be counterproductive. The only Asari sisters we saw were the Dantius and they were killing each other :P

The asari were the most populous species. They were just spread out thoroughly amongst the stars.

Maybe, but  with the whole prayer thing, as well as that line, it just seemed like Shepard was losing it.  Hmmn yes I suppose that could work too.

Weird thought, but what if  Aethyta had 'encountered' Hannah shepard? I think that would have made for some hillarious dialouge in the reunion scene on the citidel. :P

I really wanted that, but Aethyta was awesome enough.
Nobody messes with my girl! *super angry stare*

I just never really realized how powerful Liara has become and I would never had thought that the Matriachs saw her as a threat. :o

I second this! I want my male Shepard to be able to say specific things that are very romantic. All this keep civil stuff is not cool although It still works, but I'm with you man.

Soo... I've got this little fic I wrote up in the last hour. Not much longer than your regular long winded post here. Just a short on the ending as I would have liked to see it. Should I just stick it here, or?

It's likely to be a one off thing, I don't get into the habit of writing fanfics, I just wanted to pass the time while hoping for some good news.

First - Blue. Then get ready for a ****storm talking to!

https://encrypted-tb...4UjAGzXPeleTSrb

Okay, Listen up!

No more negative talk! Steel your resolve and start looking for answers as to why things near then end of the game
don't make sense. How can events like Mordin, Legion, Aethyta, the romances and so many more things play out so perfectly, all culminating to such crass. Think about it!

Liara at the end is saying goodbye, but! It's because she does not want to miss the opportunity to say goodbye and for romanced Sheps 'I love you' should things go to hell. The bondmate thing can be interpreted, but it's more likely a hint
of hope for romanced Shep that there will be a future for them. The blue babies comment is much the same. It's damn well not over.

I'm done laying simple examples of written word to aid you in getting your collective crap together, Shepards! Most of you are still indoctrinated... To caught up in the LI romance or other aspects of the end to think clearly! Get a grip Shepards! Focus on the mission!

Ask yourself why the rubble by the Mako after hit by Harbinger is made out of the Virmire victims armor and face!

Image IPB

Now go back to the game and replay the ending and look around!!! Why can you walk through some of the rock formations. Look at the trees, try to look at your own damn feet after the hit! You can't!

You are not on the Crucible - not even the fake one in Shep's head. You are near the center where the light beam connects the Crucible to the Citadel, but the crucible has no walkway! Why is the Crucible made of human/alien ship parts? Why would the Citadel have 1m1 printed on a bulkheads - which is likely a million years old if not older?

I'm not even touching the Normandy outrunning a mass relay explosion, and Joker, LI, and best friend/most trusted squadie (people who Shep would think about when on deaths door) ending up outside sol - even though real mass relay explosions would evaporate the entire system and thousands of light years beyond it's borders... Arrival!

Your goal is simple. Kill Reapers with big guns. Nothing should get in the way of your mission. Not sentiment, not anger, not ego, not love.

Crucible - A place or occasion of severe test or trial: "the crucible of combat"

Catalyst - A person or thing that precipitates an event.

Now - Take heart! There is hope! The war is not over. It's barely begun, and as soon as us Shep's who didn't get indoctrinated get out of this damn hospital, you can bloody well bet we'll be back in the front line fight to rid the galaxy of this menace once and for all.
