I apologize for my lack of posting in the past week. Most of my time has been spent on the "So we can't get the endings..." thread. As I am sure most of you are as well haha.
I needed to return to the warm embrace of Liara, and all of your company.
Hugs for you all.

Joker: "You stole the Normandy, blew up the collector base... ...and I have not mutinied once. Not once!"
You all should remember that the next time you see the 'end' of a playthrough.
And that is why I am RP'ing as Joker if I ever play mass effect again. He gets the girl, the ship and lives.
Who could ask for anything more?
Not in my playthrough. I killed all synthetics.

That's
true, lol. I actually liked the scene on the Cerberus base when Shepard
is watching the video's about the lazarus project, and says she didnt
realize she was in such bad shape when they found her remains, and
starts to question whether shes actually still her or just an advanced
VI. Liara tries to comfort you, saying she wishes she had known you were
feeling that way, and that she knew it was really you the first time
she touched you again
Honestly, I wish there were more conversations like that in these games.
Uh huh, not that I'm complaining, there was plenty of good dialogue in the game... But room for more! And Shep didn't really get to show that she was that tired of the war, for all the pre-launch talk. Just once, perhaps after Thessia, seeing Liara get hurt like that.. Maybe they could.. I dunno, just hug, with really pained expressions on their faces.

On a more positive note: Liara was awesome, the dialogue was awesome, the romance scenes were beautifully done and apparently both Shepard and Liara survived my ME3 playthrough. I'll be my usual stubborn self and use head canon for the final part. Meaning Shepard and Liara will be living in peace on earth for a good while. Not much to do in the ME universe now until the organic races use the data from the Reapers to rebuild the mass relay network....

According to javik, Asari had hair until they started breeding with lizards.(Which also explains the skin texture.)
Wait, what? When did he say that?
He says that randomly when you talk to him.
He says that without Liara around? What's the context?
And BTW, so previously it was stated that basically it's parthenogenesis, no genes from 'father' actually 'go' into a child, and suddenly it has such effect?
Second BTW, on Thessia, those primitive artworks from pre-space flight times already present asari in modern way (and since they also presented prothean in accurate way, it had to be really old). If assuming that this change happened even before (but protheans couldn't know them for too long time), then why after tens of thousands (about 50 000) of years it went no further, even though they started to bond with other sapient species?

I'd always dismissed her advances in ME 1 because 1) I never really thought of my Shep as as distinctly gay or bi; 2) I could never headcanon-rationalize having any romance with anyone while on that urgent military mission to stop Saren (I did Jacob in ME2 because it seemed more appropriate to me, character-wise and because chain-of-command and protocol seemed much more relaxed on the Normandy SR-2... but I'm digressing); and 3) Liara just seemed way too young, physically and emotionally (even though her intellect was mature).
But things had culminated to a point at that moment in ME3 where it just seemed right. There was no gender or species; just two souls who seemed to belong to each other bound by some underlying cosmic force. The "goodbye" between Shep and Liara near the end was made especially beautiful and poignant because of this sort of destined romance I started to believe in, too. Anyway, this is corny as hell, but I just wanted to praise the work done on Liara throughout the series and especially ME 3, no matter what I thought of the ending. Excellent work here, BW. Definitely one strand of storytelling and interaction that I will always look fondly on.
PS. Liara's hue in ME3 makes me hungry for blueberries.

She's not angry there. She's trying to snap Shepard out of the complete mental shutdown he/she goes into when Dr. Eva pancake's the Virmire Survivor's head on the side of the shuttle. This is the scene in the med bay when she's telling Shepard Ashley/Kaidan needs medical attention.

You all really should see this. A lot of those blue children maybe possible after all! I think Liara will be in shocked! It all make sense now. I knew there was something wrong with Shepard at the beginning of the game all long! The Reaper artifact at the Project Base during Arrival, the little boy and the nightmares explains it all!
Mass Effect 3 - Shepard's Indoctrination
It's obvious something was not right. Liara was right there with me when Harbinger started shooting. After Shepard got up, she was nowhere to be found. Yet later she and Javik got out of the Normandy when it crashed, safe and sound. It was simply not possible for Liara to be there. Javik was also planetside, he couldn't have been aboard either.
If it turns out to be indoctrination, I do hope that after the Reapers are really beaten, it wears off and Liara and Shepard still get to have their marriage, old age and a lot of little blue children ending. Nice how Liara even talked about how they'd have to make up a story for 'all those little blue children'.
I refuse to believe this was the actual end. Perhaps there is still hope as you say....

The idea that asari practiced bestiality long enough for it to have a permanent effect on their entire species is not one that sits will with me.
Did they actually mate with lizards or was it a joke by Javik?
I haven't seen the dialog so I'm not sure.
Maybe he meant Salarians. He called them lizard people, lol.
Asari met Salarians only few thousands years ago (in ME calendarium), long after protheans destruction.
And BTW, it seems to be autodialog conversation with Shepard alone (so no apparent reason why would he sell BS, as if there was Liara nearby), citation from other thread:
"Javik: "I remember Asari in their infancy, you know they used to have hair on their heads?" Shepard: "Oh when was that?" Javik: "Before they started mating with lizards."
Of course, it absolutely doesn't make sense, since like I mentioned for 50 000 years they remained the same as on prehistoric paintings (and that would make sense since their reproduction system and long life span disallow much genetic diversity), and Protheans themselves couldn't know asari for long time, only few thousands years at best.

It could've just been something that Javik was told by his fellow protheans over the years. Back then then Asari were still primitive and would only live on Thessia - lacking spaceflight of course. The Reapers left Thessia be during that cycle AND they shut down the relays. There's no reason Javik ever set foot on Thessia personally and he probably never saw an Asari in person. So who knows, someone might have told him about this 'race of primitive blue females' and fed him a bunch of rumors.

Or maybe he just sells BS after all, since he's not too fond of asari as they turned out to be a dissapointment to him, and thinks of Salarians (which he called lizards and propably by this time already knew that Asari bond with them, among the others) as little more than animals.
I really hope that's the explanation, since if they want to make Javik's line real, then apparently Bioware decided to completely destroy every aspect of franchise.

But Liara needs Javik so she can write a book. I was surprised when he mentioned that he'd be willing to do that. I'm not sure he'd make a great uncle for the children!
Javik also said during his 'goodbye scene' that he'd visit the site where he once killed his indoctrinated friends, bring them peace, then join them. Judging from this, he is not going to live to write that book, no matter what he said to Liara.
