I thought Liara's personality change was well handled. And it was like it was a complete overhaul.

You all are going to laugh but....the whole situations reminds me of Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings. Shepard was dead. Everyone else did, with good reason, give up. She didn't. Just as Sam refused to give in no matter what he faced, and so did she. Sam was the real hero of the LotR trilogy, after all.

Most people have limits. She doesn't.

This^

Spot on my little blue friend :)

Hi fellow Liara fans. I got something I need your help with, I scored an email interview with Liara herself Ali Hillis! I plan on doing something similar to what I did here with my Corinne Kempa interview here Just hopefully better and more in depth! PM if you want to be sure I don't miss the question.

We've all come to agree upon the same thing, but how will she handle herself in ME3? What's her loyalty mission (if she has one.) She's been onboard with Shep' for so long she might as well be loyal to begin with, like Tali or Garrus.

I think we can only speculate on this.
She will probably provide some sort of intel, and take over as the ship's scientist and will be in the lab area of the ship.
Her loyalty mission would most likely have something to do with the asari homeworld of Thessia, or perhaps something to do with SB's ship, unless it gets destroyed right away to force her to move to Normandy right away.
As for, how she will handle herself... well all the players that stayed loyal to her would probably get some sort of fan service that's for sure ;)
Another thing that comes to mind is Liara/Aethita subplot.

Somehow a loyalty mission for Liara seems unnecessary considering the relationship between Shepard and Liara. I would speculate that there will be several opportunities to further cement that relationship but as far as loyality is concerned Liara's is without question.
I think she'll assume a 'quest giver' role in ME3 and if she is Shepard's LI she'll reside in Shepard's quarters likely sitting at the computer desk continuing her SB role with perhaps an occassional 'interlude' with Shepard.
Chances are that instead of loyality missions we'll be attempting to recruit entire races/factions in the fight against the Reapers. Hopefully we'll get to visit all of the homeworlds and revisit many of the places we've been in previous games.

Does anyone else have any theories as to Liara's complete personality change between ME1 and ME2? I think that it was PTSD, but I wanna hear your thoughts.

It has been talked about way too many times before. Liara did NOT completely change. The old Liara is still in her, she has just matured and become more independant and not relying on Shepard for anything like in ME1.

Which to be honest I find extremely sexy

"You fought a krogan battlemaster while I cowared. Now you're doing it again. And I'm still leaning on you for help." -- Liara T'soni

Anyway. She has indeed matured but her personality is still pretty much the same as in ME1. It's just that she's put up some emotional barriers and toughend herself up in order to not get overrun in the ugly world that's information brokering.

I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to a game, just to meet a party member.

Indeed. The entire first part of ME3 I'll probably think: When will I meet Liara?
5 mins later: How long until I get to talk to Liara again?
Etc...

All of this is me too. Going to Liara will be the first thing I do after getting on the Normandy if she is available.  Or if its a little later, as soon as she is available.

As to Liara's emotinal barriers, I think some of that is for herself not wanting to hope Shepard would come back.   Which led her to the determination to go after the SB.  I think she did it for two reasons.  To pay a debt for Feron along for the SB almost selling Shepard to the collectors.  Along with changing her focus from Shepard to finding the SB.

I suppose Liara's feelings for Shepard (whether romantic or not) got in the way of her better judgment when trusting Cerberus and go after Shepard's body. Deep down Liara didn't believe Cerberus could get Shepard back I think, her feelings just caused her to hold on to the only bit of hope she had left.

With that in mind, and the fact that she probably knew about Shepard being alive as soon as he/she first set foot on Omega (that's also when the news reports about Shepard's survival start) I really wonder what must have gone through Liara's mind at that point (so the point where she first learns of Shepard being alive). Would it have been astonishment or disbelief that her friend/love was alive. Or would those feelings have been overshadowed by a sense of regret, knowing that Shepard probably didn't want to end up with Cerberus? Maybe even fear of what Shepard had now become. Did he still care for Liara like she did for Shepard? Was he even the same person? Did he even still know who she was?

So many possibilities. Looking forward to other people's opinions on this subject :)

I've been writing another story and I've been thinking on that very topic.  I have it set between ME2 and ME3.  Also after the Arrival DLC.  Shepard takes some a much needed rest and spends it with Liara at the SB base.

I've been here thinking since last night how to start that conversation between them about Cerberus and why Liara gave Shepard's body to Cerberus instead of the Alliance.  Which Liara very well could have done.  But didn't.  I'd like to explore that some.

I imagine while Shepard spends some time with Liara, the latter will occasionally tell Shepard how happy she is to have him back. If this happens to be on a quiet evening, Shepard could continue with thanking Liara for everything she's done for him. Since it's only because of her that Shepard is actually alive. Followed by something like: "I've been meaning to ask you..." and "Cerberus doesn't have the best reputation. What made you trust The Illusive Man/Miranda into recovering my body and giving it to them?"

I think in the state Shepard/Liara's relationship is in after Lotsb, they can ask each other anything, without having to be afraid of awkward silence or offending one another.

Of course we already know the answer, she'll use the incredibly sweet sentence: "I couldn't let you go..." which is fine. You could add some emotionally heavy scene by having Liara talk about how she felt after she gave Shepard's body to Cerberus. I imagine she'll have had more than 1 day where she felt guilty about it. Thinking "Who knows what kind of sick experiments they're doing on Shepard now"

Just make sure to have Shepard comfort her by explaining it all worked out in the end (Wouldn't want a sad ending to the scene now would we)

That's about all the ideas I have, looking forward to reading the end result. Whether you decide to use some of my ideas or not.

Some of ideas you mentioned I have already thought about.  Oh no.  No sad ending for my Shep/Liara.  No worries on that front.  Until Shepard dies of old age(over 150)  I like to think that Shepard can live long enough to see her/his and Liara's children become full asari adults and be together for over 100 years.

Humans get lucky if they make it to 150, since shepard is basicly a cyborg I think he/she will make it to 200-250.
Or at least I like to think that ;)

Shepard is 31  So, I figured Shepard would live at least 100 more years.  possible 150+ .  I was thinking more along 180-225.  Same ball park though.

Indeed, she is.  And the 'Emrbrace eternity bit at the end....

Also no ones suggested any questions for my interview of Ali Hillis, if you got em let me know, so I don't have to pick those silly questions that no one cares about!

This is where I am today ... played ME3 demo (waited over 2 hours but worth it), saw CHud answer ME3 questions and met Ali. Highlight? Her looking at me and in Liara's voice saying "Thank you for playing with me, Commander Shepard." And yes, she said it flirty! None of my friends will understand why I will be walking on air for a while. Image IPB

If you are near San Diego, she will be back at the Bioware base tomorrow at 3:00 signing more autographs.

She was very sweet to everyone! Oh, and when I olayed the demo I kept looking at Liara and smiling, especially when she talked to my Shepard!

Nice pic and information there guys. She is a sweety but I can't believe some of the Talimancers don't like Liara, specially when Ali is the voice actresses.
PS: That's gonna take decades to forget that PMC since it was Ali herself. xD
