The only way I rationalize it is that for some reason Liara "friend zoned" you in ME3. Either to focus on her work, or to torture you by teasing you, and making you save up for the moment.

But that'd be really mean, poor Shepard :P

Yeah, she's like "Oh, I'm going to call him "Friend" and only get close to him when he puts some work into it. And then, after weeks of only being called "friend", and only a tease, he'll go crazy, and commit to get the full package. Mahahahaha!"

Basically that's what everybody does with Shepard in one way or another, the Alliance, the Council, TIM, hell even the Reapers! :D

It didn't help when after telling her, "Friends doesn't cut it anymore, Liara.", she says "Well! That sounds serious".

I tend to handwave all that stuff away as the limitations of this story being told in video game form with choice and all that jazz.

And that is where the line is drawn where it goes from a passion for gaming to a "get a life" situation. WOw... just wow.

I honestly don't think they were ever serious before then.

In ME1, they really didn't talk about their relationship or future.

In LotSB, Shepard can make the 'marriage, old age, blue children' comment but it was said jokingly (even if Shepard was serious...Liara didn't take it that way).

They both may have felt serious about it since ME1, but that was never communicated until that moment.

yeah, I mean, this is even counterproductive in a way, you're only bringing problems to the developers instead of being constructive and hoping for an amendment on their part fixing the endings (which everything indicates is what's going to happen).

Exactly, which is why I always say the IQ on the BSN is scary. I mean very scary. That's why I question the RetakeME3 movement's mission statement. If you stop buying ALL BioWare games and EA games, it will eventually become antiproductive. But that is just me I guess.

I actually like that point of view, and yes you're right that commitment in the Citadel looks way more serious than anything of what they did before.

While I can never help but smile at that line, because of how amused Liara sounds saying it, my Shepard can't help but be the tiniest bit of frustrated by it, mainly because when Liara brought up the relationship Shepard is serious and yet when he tries Liara teases him. :pinched: I can't help but tweak the scene a little in my headcanon just to make it so my Shepard jabs back a little.

"Well, that sounds serious."
"You're going to make me regret this, aren't you?"
"Keep talking and we'll see."
*scene continues as shown*

It's a small thing but something my Shepard would do. :innocent:

That's a valid point.

I'm just saying from my prespective, or how I roleplayed it, was she was teasing me into committing. Which both tortured my Shepard, but totally made it an overall better experience. Because when they do finally commit, you really do feel like this was a trilogy romance. I probably feel like what one of those Twilight geeks feel about the ****ty Edward and Bella romance. Now I just need a fourth game that contains the marrage, pregnancy, and lots of pointless filler, and I'm happy.

A fair point.  Sometimes I forget that what happens in my head isn't necessarily what happened in game.

It is the difference between dating someone and making it clear you love someone and want a life with them. It works for me. Like you said they might have felt it before but this is the first time Shepard communicates her desire to spend a lifetime with Liara.

Hey guys, I've been without a working computer for the last couple days. Can anyone fill me in on any notable stuff I might have missed?

Lots of ME3 captures and speculation/discussion about the endings in general and a possible alternate endings DLC (which was technically confirmed to happen by Casey Hudson yesterday)

Considering Morinth (if spared in ME2) turns into a Banshee in ME3, that picture is disturbingly hilarious

I acctually thought her response was very cute in a Teasing Shepard kind of way. By her inflection, it seems like she was kinda messing with you. Lovingly messing with you;P I think tease is the word.

Oh, what sort of screen captures? I'd look through the pages I've missed, but my current computer is really slow right now.

General captures of Liara during the different parts of ME3 and some from LotSB. Also there's a link to a page with lots of fanart.
