That's okay. It's very hard to stay away from Liara.
It caused some eyebrow twitching for me (irl) when they said it was now public knowledge that Liara was the Shadow Broker though. I'd have preferred that information to stay Shepard/Liara's little secret. Especially considering what the asari government was prepared to do, if you talk to Aethyta.

I don't buy that it's what the devs intended...but it's the only way to make sense of the last 10 minutes of the game, for me.
This was planned, believe me. This is a classic case of walking a mile in someone else's shoes... or in our case, as few hundred thousand miles, and really experiencing what Shep did the last half of the game. His/Her shakiness in resolve and doubt starting after the Cerberus attack and begins to feel palpable. Especially when talking with everyone before the push. He/She is clearly freaked out and messed up - totaly ooc. Not even an 'I love you' back to Liara after the gift if romanced... not ****g likely.
You need to pay more attention to the last 10 minutes. Too much of that sequence can't be even a messed up mind's reality. Seeing a pile of Ash or Kaidin shaped rubble, a bunch of identical bodies after the beam up, English writing on Citadel bulkheads no sapient has ever been, design similar to the Shadow Broker base, keepers that can't be killed, unlimited amo, can't look at your own feet... I could go on.
Just being alive at the end of Destruction is impossible if Shep was really on the Citadel.
This is fully based on what I see and my own theory. It's just hard to understand why others can't see what is right in front of... oh wait. Indoctrinated. Now I get it. Carry on husk.

Conversely, Tali and Garrus are arguing which of them should comfort Liara after Thessia, and my Liara-mancing FemShep stepped in and said she'd do it. That seemed to work for me (still annoyed there's no paragon-interrupt hugging in there anywhere, though).
Oh, that's good to know. I skipped talking to them because I wanted it to be Shepard comforting Liara not Tali or Garrus. I didn't think Shepard would actually say it should be her.
I was waiting for that paragon interrupt the whole scene. I had my hand on the mouse ready to fo. I'm kinda surprised it wasn't an option. Oh well, I guess that's what fanfic is for.

The asari government was keeping an eye on Liara before she became the Shadow Broker. Aethyta did bug Liara's office on Illium. It seems that people that know Liara is the SB is those Liara trusts. Everyone on the Normandy in ME2 knows. Cerberus knows. The only agent that knows is Feron, because it seems the other agents do not know the Broker is now Liara.Robhuzz wrote...

I still wonder was Liara going to work out of the Normandy with Anderson in charge of the ship or did Liara pick up all that equipment while they were on the Citadel.

The one thing that bothered me was the previously mentioned "good friend" dialogue, although I think that would have probably bothered me less if not for the "more than friends" dialogue popping up on response to that later on.
Those two things together made it seem more like the game kept forgetting about the relationship than that they simply considered themselves friends as well as lovers.
*sighs*
I'd like to experience all those moments again, but as it stands with the game's ending it all just feels so pointless.

Spot on. Exactly what I was thinking. I no longer have the 100% faith that I once did in this theory though. Even though I was thinking it before I even reached the credits on my PT. I guess I'll be patient and wait.

That bugged me, too. I imagine it's not "public" public knowledge, but more people know than Alice would have EVER found acceptable.

The writer did say they probably should have added something like Liara putting her head on Shepard's shoulder during the time capsule scene to show they are lovers and friends.JediMB wrote...
Loved the romance plot with Liara in ME3. One of many truly high points in the game.

I do think the 'lock in romance' scene on the Citadel was set up that way because you can start a new romance with Liara. Why else would Kaidan tell Leia his feeling for her after she turned him down in ME1 and picked Liara? She was forced to choose between them in ME1. That talk with Kaidan works out better if you lock in Liaraq before talking to him.
I've worked my headcanon around the ending, so it doesn't bother me. I have to change a few things, but I think it works. I hope the readers feel the same way when I finish what I am working on and publish it.

Anyways I decided to add in some story to the scene where Shepard gives the crew a final speech.
So here is what happened in my head after I chose to take Vega and Kaiden with me:
'Liara: " Shepard... "
Shepard: " Liara, I'll be back. I promise. "
Liara starts crying, Shepard comes closer and grabs Liara's hands tight.
Shepard: " I'll think of a speech for those little blue children. "
Liara looks up at Shepard.
Shepard rubs the tears off Liara's face and walks away.
Javvik approaches Liara and says " the commander is strong, he will be back "
Liara smiles as Javvik the once cold Prothean comforted her.'
I'm not that good at telling stories, but I love the idea. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did

And all that I can still chalk up to rushed writing on the ending to match a timeline and use recycled means (like frequent other moments in the game) in game textures to create something creepy. I wouldn't put it passed the folks at bioware, but maybe then theyd feel guilty enough to give us something awesome in the form of FREE DLC to fix their RUSHED mistake that they hoped no one would notice.
Ionno, the Indoctrination theory is still believeable its just those little things I can see being the mistakes of lazy, hasty BW employees that didnt even realize they were creating the fuel for a conspiracy.

This is not accurate. Only a few people know Liara is the SB. The Asari government was watching Liara because she was Benezia's daughter and later became an 'information broker' with 'shady' ties. Not even Aethyta knows she took over operations for the SB. Shep, Tali, Wrex, Hackett, Joker, EDI, maybe a few other squaudies and some of the ships complement (most former Cerberus and likely dead or detained. And none would know for sure.)
I think Hackett and Liara are quite close, although the relationships leans more towards professional / Shep babysitting.

I either read an article or a tweet from either one of the writers(Mac Walters) or one of the devs about they knew the ending was going to ****** people off. They did it anyway. Give BW this. They knew the storm was coming and did it anyway. That takes balls. Especially after all the fuss about the ending to DA2.doozer12 wrote...

Nope shep babysitting is for joker and Edi, you know because it's his fault shep already died once. Liara is just a concerned friend and lover

Balls, arrogance, or idiocy. They wanted a memorable legacy that compared
to 2001 Space odyssey and as far as theyre concerned they think they
did a great job. Guess what, this sci fi fan thinks not - and i dont think im alone.
Maybe theyll leak tidbits of the ending to make more sense with every piece of DLC they release - have to buy 'em all for it to make sense.

Yes, unromanced Liara tells Shepard when she gives Shepard back the tags that Hackett gave them to her to give to Shepard.Robhuzz wrote...
If you don't romance her, Liara says during the cabin scene in ME2 that Hackett gave her the dogtags doesn't she? My ME2 is a bit rusty I think. This would confirm the theory that Liara and Hackett know eachother better than you'd expect.
I'm not surprised though, he's a very likeable character and over the course of Mass Effect 3 almost seems to become another father/mentor figure to Shepard next to Anderson.
Liara also mentions if you didn't do the DLC that Hackett contacted her as an information broker and not the Shadow Broker. So it seems people know if Shepard helped Liara take out the yahg.
Vid on Shep's comment on Sur"Kesh. I only wish I had Garrus with me instead of James. Sorry, Liara. It was funny.

Hackett also gave Liara Shep's tags and asked her to pass them on. She is a little vague about that when romanced. Maybe for the friends dialog it's to seem less stalkerish, but I still headcanon that Hackett was the one that handed them off to Liara. I do wonder how the conversation with Hannah went though... "No you can't have them... I need to give them to Shep's blue girlfriend." lol
