How cool, SilentNukee.

I saw a tweet from Ali Hillis yesterday about how she thought the FFXXIII Lightning figure was cool. Wonder what she thinks of Liara getting her own figure too.

I'm a failure at that too.  :(  I just read tweets and sent articles to my tweeter account.  That is about it.

Need more blue.

Well they do refer to the "Goddess" in their conversations. so perhaps they do have a religion of some sort.
Also this sort of counterstates Liara's claim that male or female have no meaning to their people when they god is female. :P

"Goddess" is either the closest human term for the asari deity's name or they don't refer to her by name for some reason. Their religion is mentioned in the codex.

I just realized "Male & female have no meaning" implies that every animal species on their homeworld is female.

Also, greetings Liara fan thread!^_^

I suppose she'd feel honored or at the very least just happy. Ali Hillis sort of IS Liara. More so than Jillian Murray imo.

Well, this just applies to the Asari themselves, not other species originating from Thessia. She actually says "Male and female have no real meaning for us" meaning you can't accurately call Asari females because frankly, they're not.

Problem with that is that the codex refers to them as an all-female species.

Well, yes. On the other hand, I could correctly call myself a carbon-based human (as opposed to a silicon-based life form) but that would be rather silly (since all humans are carbon-based) even if we ever encountered silicon based aliens.
As for Thessian wildlife - we use different words to describe an animal's sex, don't we? Think ram/ewe rather than "man/woman sheep" whilst we use "man/woman" for humans.

I hate to mention a meta perspective but doesn't it seem like Liara not being female is an excuse to avoid an out cry over s/s content rather than a genuine feasible lore claim. Given how Fox News initially reacted that's what makes the most sense to me. Of course trying to squeeze that into the lore is another matter entirely. Trying to find an explanation that fits the lore hurts my head.

To me Liara is female and that's that, no amount of codex-disembodied voices or Chud explanations will convince me otherwise... I guess I'm just unreasonable like that. :)

Anyway saw this pic and thought it looked like a cross between Liara and Ali Hillis, thoughts? Should I get my eyes checked?

True. I believe the codex does display some inconsistencies. However I felt while Asari are obviously female to the outside (other races) they simply do not view themselves as such because there are no males either.

Don't worry about that. I also consider Liara a female (hard not to). Fox News...*snorts* it's a miracle they don't have a BSN account, they'd fit right in with all the haters and whiners on these forums:pinched:

@Fiddles_stix, I can see a little bit of Ali there.

@SilentNukee, I give you my favourite Liara - side view for that. Enjoy.

I think the Codex and Liara's reference to 'female' is to describe the Asari on a human level. Before they got off of Thessia I would think that they didn't have an idea of a Male.

Ah the spoils of war. Time to claim what's yours. ^_^

That's a nice piece of artwork. This will be my Shepard + Liara if the shadow broker base is under attack and Liara refuses to leave. Except Liara won't look this happy at that point. I'm sure she'll forgive Shepard after a while. Maybe after a little 'make up melding':pinched:
