I think most would be okay with it being possible but not necessarily made explicit.
Like...not have Shepard and Liara separated by light years with no mass effect relays.
What? You didn't like the ending?
Liara (professor) / Ash (Mary Ann) / Joker (Gilligan) / EDI (Ginger) / Prothy (Mr Howell) / Dr. Chakwas (Mrs Howell) / Garrus (Skipper) ... Any artist up to the challenge?
Always wanted a big "squad portrait" type drawing. Ya know, the kind where everyone is goofing off or making faces, or even just looking suitably BAMF. This kind of thing probably exists, but it'd be nice to have one involving every squad member from 1 and 2.
On a side note, I kinda wish we could get Liara to start calling you "Loco/Lola", albeit in a teasing fashion. She could pick it up from James, maybe through some kind of squadmate hangout time, and use it as a means of showing affection/pushing your buttons. Then it wouldn't be so awkward for Shep to retort by calling her "Bluberry".
In fact, this could be comedic gold:
Assuming Shepard and Liara both survive the ending, and get a chance to "get lost" in the far reaches of space, this conversation could be a conclusion of sorts.
S: "So, Miss Shadow Broker, still willing to leave all this behind for a chance at some peace and quiet?"
L: "Absolutely."
S: "You won't miss that all? You could leave everyone else, all your work, the people we saved, just to be alone with some boring human soldier?"
L: "In case you had forgotten, I happen to be about as boring as a woman could possibly be. I spend most of my day hunched over data feeds, mumbling to myself or dictating to Glyph.
But on a serious note, I could hardly refer to you with the term "boring", Shepard, not after all we've been through. Not after everything we've shared.
No, "boring" is not a fitting term."
S: "Fair enough...so, what would you use to describe me? Devilishly handsome? Remarkably intelligent? Cucumber cool? Dead sexy, even?"
L: "I think.....I think there's only one word that can sum you up properly....."
S: "Yep, gotta be "Sexy"."
L (chuckles): "I was thinking......Loco."
S (smirking): "Loco", huh? I knew I shouldn't have let James talk you into playing poker with him and the rest of the crew, he's a bad influence." (his face suddenly turns deadpan) "So, just to be clear, does that mean that you don't find me sexy or intelligent? Not even a little?"
L (backstepping): "Of course I do. I was just....I was just making a joke. I thought you wanted me to be more good humored. Oh Goddess, I'm sorry I said that."
S (face turning even more serious): "Well....since you apologized....."
L (growing progressively more flustered, starting to babble): "Oh Goddess, I feel so stupid. I am just not cut out for human humor, it must be partially genetic. I should never have listened to James. But he said you would like it if I called you that. Something about it being a "pet name", and "innocently dirty" when I said it. Goddess, I shouldn't drink when I'm around others. Shepard, I am so sorry, I really do feel you are all of those things. I-
S (breaks into a wide grin): "Well then, you are extremely lucky that I feel the same....Blueberry." (his voice would have to be downright evil to make this work, but it would be hilarious to hear)
L (shock/heavy surprise, followed by recongnition, followed by sharp indignance): "Blueberry! You mock me for calling you Loco, and you turn around and call me BLUEBERRY!?!?" (again, the emotion in the line would sell it, since the words would be a cross between indignant and amused)
S (guffawing): "You should.......hehehe....you should see the look on your face! It's absolutely priceless!"
At this point, Liara would headbutt him as hard as possible, right on the noggin.
S (desbelief): "Sonofa- did you just, headbutt me? Really? OWWWWWWWW!"
After staring at each other for a few seconds, they fall down laughing.
L (uncontrollable laughter): "I. AM. KROGAAAAAN!"
After the laughter dies down, they wind up side by side on the ground (on whichever planet/ship they wound up on, preferably Earth), looking up at the stars.
S (chuckling): "I can't believe you just did that. Your dad would be so proud. Her baby girl just graduated into a full fledged battlemaster."
L (expression turning pensive): "I wish she were still here. Aethyta, I mean. I never really got a chance to know her. At least, not as well as I would have wished."
S (also serious): "Yeah, I know the feeling. It's tragically funny, huh? Two totally different people from completely different lives, yet we're both alone, without a family. We're equals, in the end. Death brings even the most disparate to the same level. (this would be the PERFECT time to weave in Shepard's past, particularly for a Colonist or Earthborn Shep. In fact, it could become canon that Shepard's mother dies in the Sword attack, even if Shepard were a Spacer)
It doesn't seem fair, does it? All we've sacrificed, all we've lost, all we've accomplished, and we still couldn't save them all. It's a brutal lesson, one I wish that neither of us had to learn the hard way. Sometimes I wonder if I could have done more, if I couldn't have saved more. I guess that will always be there, in the back of my mind. Would Akuze still have happened if I hadn't clammed up? How many more could I have spared, if I had only pushed a bit harder, fought a little longer?"
L: "You fought as long, and as hard as you could possibly have done. You forget, I was there with you, from the very beginning, and I watched you as you strove to defend us from Saren and the Reapers. You carried us through a fire that few living beings ever could have, certainly none that I have ever met. You saved more lives than could possibly be counted, and overcame more difficulty than anyone in all of history.
Your name will be remembered for eons, captured in legends and storybook tales. You may not feel as though you have done enough, or that you could have done more, but that is simply untrue. You nearly killed yourself under the strain, and everyone who knew you well knew how great the burden was. You gave your all to the fight, and there is not a man, woman, or child in this galaxy who would dare say that you are anything less than a hero."
S: "I never wanted to be a hero, never really wanted to be remembered, even. I grew up on Earth in a rough part of town, where most were content to just survive (my Shep is always an Earthborn, but there's no reason it couldn't be changed to accomodate the other two). All my life, I only ever wanted to do something, something worth doing. Sounds contrived, I know, but it's what I wanted more than anything else. I joined the Alliance to rise above the emptiness of that place. Dunno if it was anything more than selfish pride that got me out of there. I know I left a lot of "friends" behind me, the ones who were content to just live and let live."
L: "Do you think that you found whatever it was you were looking for, in the end? After everything, was it worth the blood and sweat? Would you be able to look back now and say, "I am content?"
S: "Absolutely. You?"
L: "Absolutely."
S (teasing again): "No regrets, Doctor? You don't wish you had never gotten involved with a crazy human Spectre and his merry band of misfits? We dumped you into the thick of things pretty fast. I remember how amazed I was at your resilience."
L (smiling): "Any bravado shown was just the Krogan talking."
S: "Doesn't bother you that I'm totally, as our esteemed friend Mr. Vega would put it, Loco?"
L: "I've grown to love crazy, but that's probably just the Krogan in me talking, too."
S (rubbing his forehead): "No doubts about where that headbutt came from."
L (mock annoyance): "Honestly, Shepard, I hope that "Blueberry" is not the best you can do. I'd much rather you used that on all those little blue children we're going to have; it sounds considerably cuter that way."
S: "To tell you the truth, I agree." (he looks over at her for a short while, then back up at the sky)
"I love you too...Little Wing." (long pause, veeeeeeeeeery tender)
And here's the "money" moment. This is the final few lines in the entire story between the two of them. This is the point in time where all three games come to a close. If the facial animations and voice acting were done to perfection, this could make even the most hardened cynic cry like a baby. This. Is. It.
Liara gets a faraway look in her eyes, being reminded of her mother and father. You can see a thousand memories, some happy, some sad flit across her face (and dem eyes). After a while, peace settles over her features. She turns to Shepard, grabs his hand, and kisses him deeply. She then lays her head on his chest with a satisfied smile (Liara's trademark, in my humble opinion).
S (jokingly, but with careful concern laced in): "How was that? Better?"
L (sincere, but still a lilt of humor): "Better."
S (softly, with every bit of honesty and contentment that Hale and Meer can cram into so seemingly simple a line): "For you, only the best."
There you go. I started out with intention of making a touching joke, I ended up oozing my brain onto the keyboard. This is pretty much how I headcanoned my ending to the series. In fact, this could even work as an optional happy ending to any DLC they make. It's sappy, it's utterly devoid of titillation or action, but it's the kind of concretely emotional exchange that I just know many of us would like to see. It could work similarly for any of the LIs, and it would offer some real closure, without necessarily having to make some quickie epilogue style thing. Granted, it would be massively time consuming and expensive to try and add something of this depth to the end. So I have no expectations of it ever making it past the first idea stage. Still, a guy can hope, right? As Shepard says, "Without hope, we might as well be machines already. Dead."
I felt that this game could have used a little more upbeat humor and a real sense of looking forward to something worthwhile at the end. It's hinted at with some of the characters, but never properly explored. I didn't need to see blue babies (as damned cute as they are), but I did need closure. That's what this offers. And now I sound like I'm shamelessly promoting my writing, so I should clarify. I suck at writing. I really do. This is hardly something I would use as is, but I could at least give Bioware the idea, so maybe they could......ya know, do something with it.
To all you FemSheps out there, sorry for the canon MaleShep speak. It was more me being tired than intentionally leaving you out. To all you super serious types, sorry for the gooey fanfic. I promise it wasn't my original intention. And to everyone, sorry for making your eyes bleed. Feel free to skip this if it starts to burn.
So, yeah. That's it.
(cicadas chirping)
I should go.

Interpretation! *waves fingers magically* It can be whatever you want it to be. Sharing of memories (that you won't see) a merging of DNA chains (Asari reproduction) or a quickie mind probe as a final farewell from one lover to another. You didn't miss anything, that's all the scene is. Take it as you wanna see it. I know a fair few here prefer to see it as "The Ultimate Gift!" aka baby making.
merging of DNA chains (Asari reproduction)
that is what I was thinking it was as its also around the same time she calls you her bondmate for the first time

They don't merge DNA, the father's nervous system structure is used to give an unique randomization to a copy of the mother's own DNA.

yea I know that I was just using his words to work out the gift as I was saying I am thinking that was what the memory was as it was sure not a memory she was sharing unless bioware cut that also

The last few pages I noticed the 'why so much femshep/liara' issue. Well its sad really but for whatever reason(Icant imagine why.) Miranda/Me3 /Ash appeal to the mass's more. For every male-player who likes Liara, they're are probably a thousand more who prefer normal looking A** and Ti*s.
Then of course the ELL factor. (It's been amplified with the new 'iconic' Femshep.) I would also factor in Hale and Allis being good freinds, and that chemistry does blend well.
Of course take Hale out of it, and put french femshep...and it's horrible. (Her voice hurts my ears.) IF you guys feel left out, try being a straight female who likes liara/femshep....the amount of vitaroll I get..<_<
But hay that's just what I think, shrugs. I'm all for the custom brosheps!(Especially Cohina's

This is is my favorite mshep/liara pic on the citidel.

I am a player who cannot play a male shep liara game it just does not feel right for me the femshep liara romance just works on so many lvls the whole mass effect 3 love scene is an example for me the whole build up is so touching with hale and allis and it does not have that same feel for me from the videos I have seen with a male shep on youtube maybe its me being a bi girl but I like to think its not as I have male shep games with tali ash and miranda and jack
but for me there is only one shep for liara and that is femshep

Meh, Kaidan's okay. I never found him that interesting except I liked that he said something nice about Liara. link Same thing goes to Zaeed too. They are the less characters that I like in the Mass Effect universe. I prefer Ashley over Kaidan or Zaeed any day. I think she really improved, loosen up and I find her sweeter in ME3 and she really made me laugh when I found her on the floor from being drunk even though I thought it was funnier with Tali. Lol.
