Realistically, it would take a long time if it did go in that direction. They're still pretty distant to each other near the end of ME3. Like you said, they aren't exactly friends.

Personally, I'd have to think about it. Not because of myself, but for the Asari. I mean, I feel like it'd be terrible to only live to 150, because then you'd leave your love, and your possible child alone and "fatherless" for more than 900 years.
Being in love with an Asari seems like a selfish choice.

Well, not rushed like she did with Shepard in ME1. But I imagine they'd get close. She's probably the closest to someone caring about him not because he's the last Prothean, but because he's the last Prothean that has nothing to live for, beyond revenge. And she knows revenge.
I think the relantionship she would fit best, would be one with Kaidan, I liked how Kaidan was looking after Liara specially after Thessia and how first he asks you to go see her, and then comments on how lucky she is etc, add to that the concern Liara showed for Kaidan after he got facesmashed, and her comment on mars of how Kaidan had come a long way since the Normandy got blown up, it seems they are close friends and hopefully more if you do not romance either, so yeah if I had to entrust Liara to someone it would be my shephard's bro Kaidan

Ash says that she is going to talk with Liara after Thessia. Poor Ash gets less time then Kaidan and I think part of that is due to Kaidan becoming an s/s. For all the Ash fans who fought her becoming open to female Shepard I think it ended up hurting them more than helping. That's unfortunate because Ash deserved better than what she got in ME2 & ME3. Just my opinion.
Liara also comments on how Ash has become more able on Mars but it felt a little jealous on her part when she said it. That felt weird since I was playing femShep ... it made me hope that I might have a chance but nope. No dice. They did have some funny banter between the two though.

I'm not sure its a "choice" really. Its just something that happens.
And I probably would. Guilt free as well; because what mattered at the end of that would have been the time spent together. And your children would be a lasting gift of love, not a burden. Its all just part of what it means to be an Asari; I think as a species its something they've accepted culturally by now.

When Liara comments on Ash there was a hint of jealousy. Or maybe I was hoping since I was playing with my first run Shepard who would have left everyone for Ash. Even a friend who doesn't like (really hates) Ash felt that Liara said it with a little jealousy. So at least I wasn't alone in the feeling.
Because of that delivery, I even broke up with Liara in hopes that Ash was a "yes". Nope ... all I got was Traynor in the shower. So I had to go back and make up with Liara.

yupp that's true. If I remember well it's Liara who explains this in ME1 in one of the romance dialogues there, in which she tells just that, that Asari knows exactly they're gonna live for more than 900 years which means seeing their bondmates die, so they focused in enjoy the time they've together rather than count how many time left before one of them dies.
In my opinion, why not try? As the Lightspeaker says love is something that happens, not somethin you might chose, so why not being interessed in an Asari if ME was real? Honestly if this could happen I'll probably try it, since ME universe culture is quite different of the real one.
After all does not exist in real life interracial couples? A couple of lovers don't need to be of the same country, so we can assume ME universe relationships could be classified as "interracial ones"
