I thought the Citadel blew up and pieces of it would fall to Earth?

Well, parts of it blew up. The entire thing wasn't. Most likely it's still up over Earth.

After all, if it fell on Earth, well, there would be no Earth lefted to save.

Sorry, i have to disagree with your assumption. The Shep Lives 3 second cinematc shows Shepard in a heap of broken "concrete/stone" rubble, the Citadel has no concrete or stone work.

Image IPB
It's pretty easy to see that the materials in thise scene are broken concrete.

Watch the vid. It's on the Citadel too.

I've watched End03_Shepard_Alive_Fem.bik over and over, its all concrete rubble, there's no indication that it is the Citadel at all.

"Even after thousands of years of occupation, the Citadel retains many
secrets. The precise age of the station is not known, nor what resilient
material it is constructed from."

Presidium also has many pillars and walls that seem concrete or a hard material. Rock statues and objects are on the Citadel as well.

So there's three answers.

I meant it is always the same since Shepard always dies (except for when you pick destroy and have 4k+ EMS, then he somehow survives the citadel explosion, the reentry into the atmosphere and the crash landing on the ground), Liara is always stranded on that planet and the relays always blow up. Plot holes and downright bad writing aside, these are the 3 things that bother me most about the actual outcome. You have no way to change any of these 3 variables, no matter what you do:crying:

That is what is bothering me the most about the ending (ignoring the plotholes). Those two things just makes Shepard's sacrifice seem like it was done in vain.

Let us save civilization and let Liara be able to have a good life after the war bioware! :crying:

Yeah I guess your last part falls under 'closure'. Really I think I could get over some of the plot holes, even the 'revelation' that Reapers are just pawns (does not sit well for me, Sovereign talked too superior for that) is one I could live with, since when the Reapers are no more, who cares exactly what they were there for. The things that I just cannot get over are the severe lack of choices and the inability to change the ending to your personal wishes.

If we could get this BS ending only without Liara being stuck on a weird planet, with Shepard taking the beam down to Earth and surviving and with the relays intact, then I'd be far less dissapointed. It'd be an ending I could at least live with.

So in my headcanon ending, the aforementioned never happened. Liara and Garrus were injured by the beam but alive, Shepard hit the console, having the Crucible destroy the Reapers but not the relays, went down, nursed Liara (and Garrus later) back to health with some medi gel (awesome moment in my mind) and stayed at her side until a shuttle came to pick them up to take them to hospital. Small victory celebration with all party members followed in a hospital with a private 'conversation' with Liara in another room later on.

The rest... I guess all of you can imagine just as well as I can.:D

I do not even care if Shepard is alive. I am actually okay with Shepard's story ending with him becoming the new catalyst.

My problems are as stated that the destruction of the mass relays along with the crew being stranded completely kills any joy from the ending. When the hero dies it is usually so that no one else has to suffer, that does not happen here.

All Bioware needs to do is to fix the plotholes, give a proper explaination for the catalyst, not have the Normandy chicken out and get stranded and let the mass relays be preserved. Doing those thing would make the endings much better.

Another thing I also felt that was missing is a funeral service for Shepard in the end. I would also like if it was Liara and her daughter in the last scene instead of an old man.

"EDIT"

And I forgot, put in Anderson's extended death speech in as well. The current one is underwhelming.

That's more like it. It's still not my Shepard but there's something odd and even oddly relaxing to seeing big tough male Shepard lying in Liara's arms like that.

I do not mind the cuteness but for a scene that's meant for friend-zoned Shepard, I feel it may be too much. For a Liara romance playthrough, anything goes really.

To be honest I had hoped for this sort of scene where Liara rested her head on Shep's shoulder, Shepard puts his arm around Liara, but only after the Reapers were beaten, the two of them were safe and were looking at a new future together.

And yes like I said several times: I like 'cliche happy endings' so there!:pinched:

That romantic and hopeful ending was given to Joker & EDI!

@TMA LIVE - I did expect to have more interaction with Ash after the promise that there was a real payoff after Horizon but after looking at what Jacob Taylor, Jack & Thane fans got by way of romance ... uh, no complaints here. Well, maybe a little.

That video Mass Effect 3 GMV "The Shepard and Liara" was sad.

@Yuqi - I liked the CE outfit as well.

@BringBackNihlus - We all have our moments so no need to apologize (at least to me). Sometimes I get a little pissed when the Ashley bashing gets started so I feel your pain. Also the talk about blue babies ... ech! But then I look at all the lovely blue and I'm happy again. Here have some ...
Image IPB

@Talya - Welcome aboard!

@ladyvader - thanks for the vids and I am with you. You have to play MP to get the Shep alive. Bioware says no but I had 6700 but never played MP so no Shep. Oh, well.

@HetmanNG - No, according to H1tler it was "suicide, suicide or suicide!"

@Neeh - That was really nice of you to do that for the male Shepard fans! You rock!

As to the ending ... why doesn't Bioware just tell us what the heck we saw? Or was it so artsy fartsy that even they don't know what they meant? I will hold to the indoctrination + Crap = ME3 end until they say otherwise. Doozer12 call Judge Judy! Someone find KarmenS 20 pages back!

I could see EW picking the  'I want to be alone' option because she would want to put on a brave face ... she would also want to pray to her mother for strength and guidance. So she asked Liara to leave but her lover only left to return an half hour later ...

Shepard just ending her prayer would hear someone enter causing her to quickly wipe her eyes.
Liara: "I know you wanted to be alone but ... I ... I couldn't stay away."
Shepard, wiping away the last of her tears forces a smile: "You couldn't huh?"
Liara, looking unsure as she tries to gauge Shepard's emotions: "No."
Shepard, tired and needing to regain her composure, pats the spot next to her and Liara smiles.
As Liara sits next to Shepard she sees the bracelet with a cross on the table: "How is Hannah?"
Shepard looking down at where Liara is looking: "She's fine."
Liara: "She was beautiful."
Shepard: "Very ... And how is the Matriarch?"
Liara gives a small laugh: "Sends her strength."
Shepard: "Hmm"
Shepard moves down and then places her head in Liara's lap as she closes her eyes, "Can we not talk for just a while?"
Liara smiles: "For a while and then bed."
Shepard: "Bed or bed?"
Liara gives a slight giggle: "Commander!"
Shepard joins in the laughter: "Okay, bed."
Liara runs her fingers through Shepard's hair and hums an asari lullaby as Shepard drifts off to sleep: "Sleep because when you wake up you will need your strength. Both for our bed and the battlefield."

I agree. The old man and the boy just didn't seem to fit anything at all. that just came out of left field, but maybe was some kind of a religious reference? "The" Shepard? Was just weird to me, from beginning to end.

I wouldn't rule out that some of the things that happened on the Citadel might be in Shepard's head. Example, Anderson being there, and under control of TIM. The abstract way the choices were created for Shepard to choose, and the room itself:

Image IPB

The kid alone is proof that it's been in your head.

I'm just saying, Shepard's on the Citadel.

I did not mind it. But it would much more fitting to see Liara walking through a park on either Thessia or Earth with her young daughter, who wants to hear more and more about Shepard.

Would be a very bittersweet ending especially if Shepard died.

^ wow...the meeting of citadel/crucible and the foundation of the beam on earth look eerily similar. And the wheels. But those are the only things that match up. still a stretch.  I still don't think Bioware was/is that smart.

I hope so.  Once she hears news that her daughter died again she'll have a heart attack.  Her daughter is a survivor damn it!  Never actually reveals anything about Shep's mom other than she's proud of you and working on the crucible and promoted to rear admiral.  And i recieve that from hackett!  not mom herself... bah

Shepard's mum gets absolutely no love in ME 3. Only a 10 second mention from Hackett basically. It's unknown if she survives the final assault, but what does it matter? She buries her daughter again! FFS! Who the hell has to be put through the death of their child twice?!

Argh, I'm sick of it all anyway. The ending is so full of turd that I can't give a flying one to bother about anything ME besides Liara x Shepard.

By now you'll know I'm a sucker for happy endings. I seriously could not have handled such a scene. The thought that after the battle, Liara never saw her Shepard again and their daughter only heard stories about her father, never having met him, would be enough to make me cry I think.

It'd be a great bittersweet ending though, Shepard did not survive but Liara and their offspring (legacy) did, and I'd probably have 1 of my Shepards going this route, just for such a beautiful scene, but I wouldn't be able to just sit there and soak it up without a few tears.
