So I've kinda just had a random thought. It was established by Jessica M. via twitter that Joker wasn't fleeing through a relay. Assuming you choose the destroy ending and you find your Shep in the rubble (assume London), we don't know how much time has passed. BioWare has been writing stories long enough that they wouldn't so blatantly stick your two squadmates (and for many of us, LI) on the Normandy, fleeing the battle. At this point, everyone's adopted the "No one left behind" mentality. So what if there's a duration of time between the ending, the Normandy fleeing and Shep waking up in rubble. What if they "Tarintino'd" it and some things are out of place?

What if Shep is on the Normandy when it crashes and is just in the med bay with Chakwas throwing a fit?

With the level of...shall we say, "abstractness" of the ending, it isn't unreasonable to think that Shep didn't walk out of the Normandy, just for BioWare to provide DLC further down the line that fills in the plotholes that are rather gaping. Then at the conclusion of the DLC provide the extended "paradise" film clip where it's revealed Shep is on the Normandy and his family didn't leave him to die.

Just a rando thought that's been poking at me for a few days, Indoctrination theory or not, I think the ending we were shown was done so to specifically obfuscate and focus on very certain things.

(disclaimer, I'm not in support of the endings as they stand now, however just thinking of ways to make it more tolerable)

Obligatory <3 Liara

I think Joker was just in FTL, since Relays are instant.

I give it a 8.5 for the creative use of the omni-tool and because Liara looks happy. ^_^

A happy Liara is a wonderful thing. Image IPB

Isn't the choice to destroy the Reaper's the best ending...?
With the exception of the stuff you lose regardless, the only negative is the loss of the geth and various other happy-go-lucky synthetics, no?
That, and if you have a decent enough run through your Shepard survives, which seems, amongst the rest of the death around, like a major win - let that aftermath head-canon thrive
That, or it's all subjective, and I just agree with the whole Indoctrination Theory to some degrees, as well as the idea that it's the best resolution

Everyone likes some degree of interpretation - everyone to one's own, no?

Judging by EMS required for the options to unlock, synthesis would be the best ending. Personally I think it's the worst ...

Yeah I'm still not sure which option to take - To me, the idea of turning every organic into a part synthetic in the synthesis ending seems monstrous... Although you lose the geth, Destroy seems like the option that is best - you get rid of the Reapers once and for all. Argh, I just don't know - maybe when I actually get to the end and see the details of what the consequences of each choice will be, I'll know what to do...

You guys think Liara knows hand-to-hand? Totally random but I've honestly been wondering. I like the idea of her beating up Shep during downtime.

I think she simply relies on her biotics. You really don't need to know any hand to hand techniques with "space magic" :P.

I'd imagine the only close non-armed combat style she knows is wrestling Shepard out of his / her clothes. ;)

I don't think so.  I mean she could know a few basics?  But i think she's relied mostly on her biotics.  Maybe shep in between 1-2-3 taught her a few things though.  Or ash.  Or anyone rather.

No, I do not think Liara knows hand-to-hand combat very well. She has always used her biotics as her primary killing weapon.

Or wrestling? You know those outfits are kinda tight too. And Shep could always let her win, just to get her on top him/her .

Not when you first meet her, though in ME1 the military man in me knows there would be an awful lot Shepard would have to teach Liara before taking her out in combat, you can't just take a Civilian and throw them into a Spec Ops fireteam without any training. Since they'd probably be more of danger to themselves and those around them then the enemy.

Was probably a nice bonding moment for the two in ME1 and a real behind the scenes thing.

In my headcanon she had to learn as part of her biotic training ... But she isn't comfortable with it.

Her and EW may have a little hand-to-hand but its not for "combat" reasons. Image IPB

Yeah, I always imagined Shepard trained Liara before she joined the mission.

In my headcanon, that's why they became so close so fast.

...and Shepard's just so nice for agreeing to train Liara.   Yeah..no other motive...

Yeah, I like jlb's answer the best. Though, I agree with doozer and adneate. She's hanging out on a military ship with a bunch of marines. They had to have taught her something.

Well there's always really "mundane" things that go on behind the scenes in these games. From learning how to clear a room with an assault squad to eating meals in the mess room together.

Plus depending on the dialogue you pick Shepard can kinda have a thing for Liara pretty early one, "Just remember I saw her first Lt."

I always do pinnacle station after picking up Liara. It was there she learned military commands, and how to properly use a gun.
