Not when you first meet her, though in ME1 the military man in me knows there would be an awful lot Shepard would have to teach Liara before taking her out in combat, you can't just take a Civilian and throw them into a Spec Ops fireteam without any training. Since they'd probably be more of danger to themselves and those around them then the enemy.

Was probably a nice bonding moment for the two in ME1 and a real behind the scenes thing.

Yeah, I always imagined Shepard trained Liara before she joined the mission.

In my headcanon, that's why they became so close so fast.

...and Shepard's just so nice for agreeing to train Liara.   Yeah..no other motive...

I always found that to be funny, from a gameplay perspective. I mean, when Liara joins the team, she would've experienced very little combat, except for the odd merc group that she mentions dealing with. But, with her ability to spam Throw, Lift and Singularity, she is possibly the best squadmates to have in almost any situation.

Come on guys, we all know it doesn't really matter what the game shows us since we just imagine them doing it in one of the Presidium apartments a few minutes later.

As a Spectre, Shepard gets an apartment on the Citadel.

Or...were you thinking they break into some random apartment?

Kinky

You mean after defeating the Reapers? How about right on the Presidium commons itself? Theres a nice view off the balcony after all and its not like anyone would be around.

Off-topic: Does everyone use the N7 hoodie for their Shepard in this thread?

Like it but don't use it that often tbh. Doesn't really fit my Shep's character.
Though it's definitely better than the N7 dress *shudder*

The dress is horrendous. Personally I use the formal uniform to fit the setting. I always feel my Shepard is a traditionalist in that respect, proper officers uniform when commanding the ship. That said I'm not entirely happy with the look.

Shepard: Liara?
Liara: Shepard?! Goddess I thought I'd never see you again...
Shepard: No more talk. We're embracing eternity RIGHT NOW!

For me it'd be Liara instigating, not Shepard. Weary Shepard comes truding up to a shocked and tearful Liara; goes to try to speak but Liara grabs her and...well this line is appropriate for what I would expect next:

This is the only crying Liara pic so far that I'm totally ok with. <3

WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT? My god I can't believe anyone could even bring themself to choose the options.

Honestly this is one of the things that make me love Liara so much. No matter what she always has this undercurrent of absolutely unconditional love for Shepard that means she'll do ANYTHING for her. Even after being rejected like this she's still loyal to Shepard and promises to be there for her.

You
guys think Liara knows hand-to-hand? Totally random but I've honestly
been wondering. I like the idea of her beating up Shep during downtime.

I'd imagine the only close non-armed combat style she knows is wrestling Shepard out of his / her clothes. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

I'm sure she finds plenty of time to practice and her training partner is always willing and available. I know I would be.

Also my copy of Mass Effect Redemption dispatched. ^_^

I always do pinnacle station after picking up Liara. It was there she learned military commands, and how to properly use a gun.

Its with weapons that I thought Liara would need training ... I saw Shepard teaching her how to use a pistol and later her sniper rifle. Pinnacle Station was great for that retirement home but apparently that was forgotten ... I would have loved to have went there just once in ME3.

Well, I always imagined behind the scenes that Josh and Liara were sparring in a match while teasing eachother at the same time.
But they ended up in a tie, so they went to Liara's room to have tiebreaker. Josh had reach. Liara had flexbility.

*Hic*, hey guysh! Just caming in tho shay, BLUE!
She was blue! And I was true! But it ended at two, for three made me blue. And now, to my boo, I sing this song for you!

Just came back from the Escapist forums where opposition to Bioware's betrayal of fan trust is quite high as well. It heartens me to see that it's not just the BSN who feels betrayed.

And I leave for uni at 8 today, come back at 7, find out the thread has ballooned by 10 pages. And I'm going out to have a nice Friday evening with some friends, I wonder how many pages I'll have to make up for when I get back?

She's a fast learner and Shepard is a good, if somewhat distracted, teacher. But hey according to the IDF a little sexual tension between a trainer and a class leads to better soldiers, the students pay attention more. :D

Whoops, forgot to add that that was the post I had ready before BSN decided it was undergoing maintenance.

I'd gone and come back, in a happy place on account of alcoholic encouragement. A couple of beers can make any situation seem marginally less crap than it was before.

Also, if only ME had fans as awesome as this woman.

Student. Singular. I don't think Shep would take the time out of her busy schedule to teach just anyone, would she? :P

Hey if you reference it we've got to show it. The part that hurts is if some random jag off did shoot Shepard in the knee we could have sent Conrad or Major Coates to do it.

In my "official" playthrough of ME1 my Shephard was an Infiltrator, then switched to Sentinel for 2 and 3, I rationalized it as he getting some implants to develop some latent biotic talents shortly after ME1, and Liara handled the biotic training in the 6 months between ME1 and the Normandy going kaboom

Come to think of it, those 6 months where probably the happiest on my Shephard's life, no reaper threats looming and just flying around the galaxy doing low risk? council missions with Liara and the rest while spending a lot of time with her, training :)

Random question... I have never played a renegade Shepard in any of the Mass Effect games. Am I still able to romance people like Liara or Miranda etc if I am super renegade? (I'm normally just too nice :)

I have renegade characters but usually when it comes to love interests I stray away from the renegade options. To each their own I suppose, I don't think renegade shepard is evil but more willing to do anything to get what s/he wants or needs done. Maybe that means picking adorable paragon options sometimes ;)

I s'pect it matters not if your Shep is paragon, renegade, paragade or even renegon. Just treat the women right and you'll be all right.

I never done it either but I think so, Shephard is just more forward in expressing his desires
