I believe that theory is palatable for a lot of people b/c it explains why Shepard was acting like a moron with the StarChild (and took him and the situation he put her in at face value).

Then what would have you done? Let the Reapers kill your fleet and win? Argue that the child should stop it's attack without you making a choice? Because the latter I doubt you can convince it to do.

In the "Final Hours of Mass Effect3" app, it reveals that Shepard was indeed supposed to battle Reaper indoctrination and Shepard's movements would have been taken out of the control of the player. However, this was dropped as the "gameplay mechanic proved too troublesome to implement alongside dialogue choices." It's safe to assume there are remnants of that plot woven through ME3 and is the reason that theory is so seductive. Here's the website, though the app is $3.00.

That's not really the issue.

Shepard can't even try to argue or ask any more questions (especially about the Synthesis ending...if I were someone like Shepard...I'd be asking a load of questions.  For instance, how do you merge the synthetic DNA when they kind of lack DNA?).

The choices are kind of ridiculous and it's odd that Shepard would just accept them so easily.

Damn..that would have been awesome.

I don't think this 'closure DLC' will deliver it.

My standards are pretty low too...I don't want the ending to deal with blue kids and all that...just provide the hope that Shepard won't die alone in a rubble and can reunite with Liara someday.

I still want my happy ending and JLB with that tenny pic you are my new best friend on the thread sorry Hollow but i think i finally found another Who fan in here, *turns to JLB Pleading* Please say your a Whovian, please:crying:

I'm past discussing or trying to reason the ending. There's no indoc, there's no trick or deeper meaning behind it. It's simply bad, full of holes and poorly executed. That's it.

That said, the ending dosen't reflect what happend in my ME universe, so in the end I couldn't care less.

Edit, oh oh! And I need an idea for a happy dream setting! All I can come up with is sunsets..

lol.

Yeah, stuff like the Mass Relays exploding, or what exactly is being destroyed I need answers on. Like if the thing takes out EDI and the Geth, I imagine it's the same for our VI ships. So are they screwed too?

Sorry for being so persistant on this but just because they removed the part where Shepard's movements were out of the player's control, doesn't mean they gave up on the indoctrination part completely. It could mean they simply skipped the part where Shepard actually became indoctrinated (and I am thankful for it. Just imagine the horror of becoming indoctrinated and having Liara with you). They could still have gone with the 'receiving visions' part and have Shepard win over indoctrination before the end.

Eugh I don't know any more:(. I guess I'll have to sit and wait patiently until they explain wth was going on at PAX.

What I don´t get is why the Starchild takes Shepard up there. All it had to do was wait and it would have won. The new possibilities of the catalyst? Control and Destroy end the cycle and from his own words will bring the synthetic genocide, so why does it give Shepard the chance instead of waiting for the Reapers to destroy the Crucible? Not that anything concerning SC makes sense.

I can dismiss plot holes about the Indoctrination ending being part of what´s happening not being real. As the actual ending what´s happening makes zero sense. And I can´t believe BW would shoot themselves in both feet like this. For starters DLC is pointless.

On topic, at least close to the end of the game Liara had good moments. And upgrading her to Nemesis made her really usefull in combat, always took her with me.

For Liara?

Maybe her first major Prothean digsite.

...or, nice flowery meadow...they are happy.

I still believe in BioWare that they will make this right...they have to. If this was their plan all along to get us excited and wanting more with speculation that would lead to the true ending and then surprise fans with the ultimate (free) ending then +100 to BW.

I like the idea of Liara and Shepard getting lost in the galaxy to live happy ever after on some uncharted planet with lots of blue children running around, green grass and big, beautiful sun with a nice view to an ocean nearby.

My theory is that the Crucible was leaked by the Reapers. The reason why is that the secret weapon that destroys the reapers requires the AI that's controlling them to play ball. If it didn't want Shepard to win, it would have told it's Reapers to destroy the Crucible in the final battle. It wouldn't have gave Shepard choices. Hell, it would have altered the Citadel years ago, so it wouldn't work with it anymore.

So it's clearly allowing you to win.

Well yeah that would be awesome but I am trying to keep my hopes low. No use in getting all excited and then being crushed again.
Keep your hopes low or nonexistent, then everything they dish out will be great or at least bearable <_<

:crying:

I'd take an umbrella out for you, but Bioware borked it. Let's just stand in the rain together... miserable...

I'd love for Bioware to throw us another curveball, but not on the evidence of current statements and the like. They seem to be mortally offended that we don't like the endings they shoved down our throats.

We've become nothing but foie gras to Bioware.

I think if you wait without taking any path you get a "Crucible has been destroyed" GO screen.

Geez ... I come to this side of the boards to get away from the mind-melting ending speculation. Personally I have frozen all my thoughts about the end until April and am trying to enjoy my 3 game insanity play-through. Having to focus on the combat is giving my brain a rest and getting me a Mass Effect fix in the process.

Chin up, everyone. Regardless of what happens, it's been an adventure well worth having. Hope it's less bleak in here when I come back, or I'll have to start hanging out in the Garrus thread.

Hello everyone!

I have been reading stuff on this forum forever and never participated in any discussions because I am lame. Anywho, everyone here seems very cool and civil, and I love all of the artwork you guys share.

I just finished an NG+, where I completed my romance with liara, and I have to say that Bioware did an amazing job with this romance. At first, I thought Liara was quite a bit distant at the beginning and middle of the game, even after you tell her you want to be with her on Mars. But all the dialogue and such at the end was amazing. I just wanted to stop the game right after her final goodbye. :( I did not want to go through the abomination that is the ending.

Too much talk about those awful endings! Can't we all talk about some lovely headcanon endings instead? Endings with lots of blue babies? Please...?
