What I meant is melding is for creating a child, liara does this rwice, me1 and me2. What's is the point in melding when liara has not created a child? Just looks pointless really, is melding supposed to be fun? Like sex is for creating children and fun.

After the ME1 romance scene Liara said: "By the goddess, that was incredible Shepard". So yes, mind melding can also be used for pleasure only.

@SilentNukee

How in the world did you manage to come up with a picture like that?:pinched:

No. Remember there are two other asari in Mass Effect 1 who meld with Shepard and I don't think they wanted children.
Melding is something to share memories and emotions.
I hope Liara and Shepard have some physical fun, but the melding is a very intimite exchange between an asari and her partner.

I think asari can control when a true union should result in a child.
Or we are all in trouble already!

Haha... That would make 2 to 3 asari childs owed to Shepard already. Trouble indeed, just imagine the scene...<_<

Yeah, well what do you know?  You killed the rachni queen!

;)

I'll admit it doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in LotSB, but I blame ME1's lighting system for making everything too dark.  I'd still much rather have her with a consistent look throughout the games than going from pink lips (when no other asari has anything resembling pink) to her LotSB look.

She was humanised in me1, with the lipstick and tatooed eyebrows, plus her head crests are not as wide as other asari, resembling a human head more. I think they did that so people can relate to her easier.

Oh I don't doubt that was the reason behind her coloring in ME1, though why they felt they had to make a 'sexy blue space babe' more relatable is beyond me.  I haven't compared the size of her crest to other asari, though (why does that sound dirty?).  I just think that, since her mother had dark blue lips and eyebrows, she'd look the same.  I was very pleased when she popped up in LotSB looking all sexy with her new/retconned look!

It might be just me but here look at Tela Vasir and Shiala and then back at Liara.

EDIT: never realised that Shiala and Vasir's tatoos look almost the same. But yeah Liara's crests are more slick and not as wide

You could be right.  I believe the asari crest doesn't fully develop until maturity.  It starts out only covering part of the scalp when they're teeny tiny asari babies, then covers the full scalp by the time they reach physical maturity (around 40-60 years), but doesn't really "fill out" until probably late in the maiden stage of life.  Given that Liara is still pretty young by asari standards, it would make sense that her crest isn't quite as full as the matrons we've encountered.

Why do humans have sex?  Not every time a human couple have sex does a child get produced.

So much Liara on this page. It's... It's... Awesome!

Okay, serious topic. Since Francesco mentions 'father' I'm reminded of Aethyta. Let's all imagine Liara meets her in ME3 and the truth comes out. From the vids Liara has set up for Shepard we can almost 100% guarantee that Liara knows. She probably saw the vid and looked in her archives and there it was: Liara T'soni. Born of Matriarch Benezia. Father: Matriarch Aethyta etc.

Now here's the thing. Their meeting in ME3 will most likely be awkward but how will it be solved? Will Liara pretend Aethyta doesn't know and play coy, waiting for Aethyta to tell her? Will Aethyta realize that Liara does, in fact, know? Will we get a "Liara, I am your father" kind of dialogue?

Personally, I think, judging from the way Aethyta stares at Liara's picture she kind of misses her somehow. Therefore I think Aethyta would be the one to bring this up, although I do get this feeling Aethyta sucks at emotional stuff, so the great reveal will probably not be as pretty as I'd like.

My two cents are basically: Even the dialogue with Aethyta about her failed relationship (which we can assume is the one with Benezia that spawned Liara), there is an almost wistfulness to her voice. Judging by how blunt she allows herself to be, perhaps she could come right out with it and fill in a gap of awkward silence reminding us that her father was krogan, trying to deflect with humor any kind of emotional feeling if she's not met with an answer right away. I'd like it to be tender but I have a feeling it might not go that way, or perhaps I'll be proven wrong (which I'm really hoping for). I'm thinking the first few moments will be filled with awkward silence until one of them finally brings it up.

Since we started talking about Aethyta here's a picture from the Shadow Broker DLC that spawned so much debate on the topic.

Just dropping by to say that a few days ago after completing ME1 Liara became my favourite Mass Effect character EVER.

I mean, the only reason I actually even played ME1 was because I played LotSB and thought "woah this girl's a badass" and wanted moarrrr ;D (i.e. i played me2 first)
