Yes. Nora Shepard, by the end of ME3, would be so horribly disgusted with the legends and what not about her, she'd be happy to take the T'Soni name. She'd happily live in obscurity for the rest of her life, since she's done her part and she's ready for an early retirement to focus on the family.
Need someone to save the galaxy? Get someone else!
I actually like this, quite a lot. Yes.. a very appealing notion.

I doubt it's even important anyway - at least in asari society. Matriarchs seem to drop the surname,so it would only be important for the childrens' identity. Eventually Liara would be just Liara.
And those kids would have it rough either way - Shepard or T'Soni, both very big names in galactic life.
I suspect, on the balance of things, the Shepard name would carry much more weight than T'Soni though.

Eh I don't tend to think that much about the naming issue. Heres one. Who would've been happy with a Frodo-like ending, for Shepard? No matter how I look at it Shepard is going to have some serious mental issues in one form or another.
Totally ok with that. Liara's love would help her recover.
Yeah, I mean, PTSD is a definite issue. But I'm sure Liara will be able to help her work out the pain. And as they say, time heals all wounds. Perhaps not all, but Liara and some little blue kids would go an extermely long way towards healing all the hurt the galaxy has thrown at her.
Also Yuqi, I think you forget that Frodo carries the wounds of his fight against the Witch King, and the burden of the ring on his soul, rather than physically. The hurt never actually shows. A Frodo-esque ending for Shepard would be amazing on all accounts. Frodo eventually left Middle Earth to travel to the West, to the undying lands. He also left those he loved behind, but that was no bitter parting.
You know what? I would have killed for a Stardust ending. The book, not the movie.
