If you look closely at the details, Shepard has been on the edge the whole game. I really doubt she is about hugs right now. The dreams, all the deaths of her squadmates and friends,(indoctrination?) Letting the bad guy beat her down and run away with the data she needed was way too much... But..yeah she should've hugged Liara there..she has suffered almost as much as Shepard did.

Not to shift the focus too much on Shepard, but I missed a serious mental breakdown for her in the game. Maybe alittle variable depending on the ammounts of casualties and whatnot, but I wouln't mind seeing her resolve and willpower crack up a little, then having to be lifted back up by her LI, being Liara of course!
I'm sure a little blue would get her back on her feet in no time!

I think Liara would be able to have kids if she so choses. I know the book Jlb quoted states the opposite, but I take some of the trivia information from these boos with a grain of salt.

And because I felt like we have not seen this picture enough.

Wow this thread has grown since the last time I was here (which was months ago to avoid spoilers).

I've finally finished ME3 (no comment on the end, since there are plenty of threads dedicated to that) and I have to say I felt completely spoilt for Liara content, there was just so many great scenes and I'm sure all Liara haters will have a field day whinging about it but bugger them. I was particularly pleased that we got to see Liara reunited with her dad (not other mother). I also loved that Liara used to dig for ruins in the grass as a child, I'd really been hoping to get some little personal details about Liara so that conversation was just perfect.

And then I read the pages from last night and find strong debate on whether or not Liara can have kids.

1. The answer is "Yes, she can." Those stages are about what asari usually desire at a specific age.
Fertility is dependent from the ability to meld, on the other hand its the explanation why ardat yakshi are sterile: They are unable to meld like normal asari do.

2. Liara shows Maiden-like behaviour/thinking in ME1, but in ME3 its both at least 90% Matron-like.

3. The (optional) dialouge in LotSB indicates that she can have kids.

4. A quote: "However, it should be noted that each stage can be started whenever an
asari feels that she has reached the correct level of maturity. "

She also makes a comment about not having a speech for 'all those blue babies'. I'm not sure why this is even a debate - she isn't Ardat-Yakshi as evidenced by the fact she has been with Shep several times at this point. I don't expect it's much different from humans - we can have children in our "maiden" stages, it's just not common. Well... ish.

Anyone else thinks that it is unbelievably cool how people in game refer to Liara as Dr. or Dr. T'Soni. It gives me a fuzzy feeling seeing how she is a well respected scientists and has a reputation on her own instead of being just one of the people fighting with Shepard. I swooned the first time I heard someone saying this.....sigh....the appeal of intelligent women. I tell ya!

I just love how James calls her "Doc", sounds so cool.

edit: also reminds me of "BTTF"

I really shouldn't go here since the 'Asari vs Human lifespan comparison' subject has been talked about until death and we never reached a consensus on this. But I feel the maiden stage of an Asari is the equivalent to a human aged 25-30. A matron would be the equivalent of a (current day) human aged 31 - 60.

This said, Liara can probably have children even in this stage of her life, and it's been discussed numerous times how ME3 Liara is closer to a matron than a maiden. For me there's no doubt she could have children if she desired.

Again, sadly, no thumbs up emot.

But yeah, it was nice to get a little background on Liara, and how she talks about it as well. Fond memories..

Do stop by the older pages and check out the thread's own little babies corner. Cheers the heart no end I say. There's even a Krogan whelp somewhere in the mix.

There's
nothing a hug can't fix. At least temporarily. I need a hug now, but
I'd like it to be in the form of a blue woman, with some
wonderful skin texture...

Also, thanks for the pic with Ashley/Liara/Shep...I really like that one :)

I guess it's ebb and flow.. I'm kinda swamped with work, still bummed about the non-ending, attending to several minor crises, and trying not to be jealous of all the people enjoying the nice weather outside while I have to read through several journals, help out some housemates, write up a draft, not get drunk because it's my birthday, and... I guess I may have missed a few things. Oh, hanging out here.

Liara's hands on hips move, while coming in to say she doesn't respect Shep's privacy one bit is all sorts of awesome. That and they get to dance the horizontal tango after.
