Even though I'd never want to see Liara get hurt, I feel they should've gone the DAO route there. In Origins if you side with the templars over the mages at the first or 2nd choice, you're forced to kill wynne. Same happens when you chose to defile the urn of Sacred Ashes. Leliana actually attacks you if she's with you and you're forced to kill her (even if the Warden is in a romance with her - Heavy stuff).
I don't expect Liara to go that far as to attack you for betraying the Krogan or your squadmembers but I wouldn't mind it if Liara opposed it and got angry or disappointed with you if you did so. Though Liara did become more paragade-ish during ME2 and Lotsb so she might not even care all that much.
I don't think ME1 Liara would understand considering her view on the Rachni Queen. But she's grown up a lot since then, got a little jaded even. Listening to Liara's comments about the Krogan I got the impression that she hopes curing the genophage would be a good thing but she isn't convinced.
To be honest I feel Liara's reaction was the right one. I felt the same. All the time I thought: The only thing that matters is to destroy the Reapers. We'll worry about the Krogan later. When seeing that amazing old Krogan city and how Eve just calmed the entire pack of Krogan present, combined with how Eve said the women used to be much more prevalent in more peaceful times, I figured there might be hope for the Krogan.
Still they'll require a strong leader or a massive change to their society to stop them from rebelling again when their population expands. Even though they could always NOT have that many children. Seems the Krogan never thought about that one. No matter what Wrex and Eve claimed, curing the Genophage was still a gamble, I feel Liara was right to be worried.
