Even though an Ardat Yakshi is identified at 40-60, that does not mean they are capable of reproduction (edit: in fact they specifically are not able to reproduce because of the condition, but there's no indication that any Asari can reproduce that early anyway), only able to meld and destroy the others nervous system. I am led to believe that Asari can start melding (but only melding) at that age range.
Nothing has been hinted at in the games or codex that any Asari is able to "reproduce" at a "really" young age. The average is 350 years old at when they enter the Matron stage, my educated guestimate puts the youngest Matrons at a likely 250-300 years old, far older (more than 2x) than Liara is at the end of ME3.

You're basing your information on what appears in the codex regarding the physical traits of each stage, and yet nowhere in there does it state that a maiden is incapable of reproduction.  Not only that, but there are multiple indicators that say the stages are not defined by any hard and fast rules such as age.  Like how the "matron stage" can be entered into through frequent meldings, or how an asari can move to the next "stage" when they "feel" ready.

I thought I just did participate.

And I also thought we left it behind pages back. Excuse the snark, I do that sometimes.

But as you say yourself, there is no concrete evidence of anything.  Those seem to be more societal constructs within Asari culture, just like how getting pregnant while "young" is frowned upon in human society. It also says that Maidens are restless and inquisitive, perhaps as a result of their desire to wander and learn, they do not think of settling down?

Unless there is a book on asari physiology out there that says asari cannot reproduce before a certain, reasonable age, there is no reason to believe that they must be of a certain age, say 300, to be able to reproduce.

After playing through ME3 again, and getting depressed at the end of course, I had a thought. When Liara says something like "to find some place far away, so you could live the rest of your life in peace", it got me thinking: where would my Shep and Liara retire to?

Thessia? Earth? ...the bedroom?

Discuss.

Captain's quarters, where the bed is harder than it looks. For starters.. Then we'll start thinking about that little log cabin by a mountain lake....

In my headcanon ending (which goes in place of everything that happens after Anderson's death), Liara and Shepard are very involved with the rebuilding of both their species but also leave plenty of time for eachother. They have a house on both Thessia and Earth where they spend their time having fun and ocasionally helping the rebuilding effort. From time to time they are also asked to join a ceremonial opening whenever a new building has finished construction.

God, this makes me feel so incredibly sad. Please, don't reply with any Liara pics - as amazing they may be they won't help in the way I want it to help. Just try to make a completely honest reply about your feelings regarding the moment when you finished the game.
The thing that struck me the most was that I would never see Liara again, if it were true. All that I chose to fight for no longer mattered. The Reapers had won. Indoctrination theory or not, they'd won. They won because they made Shepard give up. His will to keep fighting no matter the odds was gone. He did the ultimate sacrifice because he didn't have it in him to keep fighting. To keep fighting for what he loves. There's not doubt in my mind that whoever your Shepard romances in the series, he will always love Liara above everything else. His feelings for her are not defineable. They are beyond what we as humans can comprehend. And it was all taken away by this being that broke him down to what he had fought for years to overcome.
This ending has shaken me roughly. The amount I cried when I heard this music while seeing everything I believed in being obliderated in front of my eyes was too much. I have never been this emotional about anything in my entire life. And that makes me even more sad. I will never reexperience this kind of love ever again in my life. Never. It has broken me.
But I'm still alive.

I wrote a long post and accidentally hit enter on my google search box and lost it.{smilie}

But it doesn't matter, because I found a Codex entry that basically proves what I was trying to say in a more long winded way. You've missed the point being made about the ardat-yakshi. Let me clarify.

To quote the Codex entry on ardat-yakshi:

The disorder generally begins in infancy, reaching full
pathology during Maiden adolescent sexual development
. While seductive
and sexually-driven as other asari, Ardat-Yakshi are congenitally
sterile.

Morinth was discovered and fled at the age of 40. And she did so because she was addicted to melding. The significance of this indicates that she was in the process of adolescent sexual development at the age of 40. The key word being "sexual" there. The explicit wording of that implies that this development stage allows asari to become sexually active. More specifically it states "Maiden adolescent sexual development"; this explciit description indicates this is a discrete period within the Maiden stage during which asari sexually develop. And that it does not represent the whole of the Maiden stage (otherwise it would not be necessary to be so specific).

Edit: Also this:

We're still discussing this?

I think it was mentioned earlier upthread that Samara's kids matured around 40-60, thus showing their Ardat-Yakshi-ness. It's a safe assumption they start then.

Let's not throw our human lifespan into the mix and extrapolate from there. We know next to nothing of asari physiology, remember.

A long-lived race is one thing, maturing at the same rate(100 years vs 1000 years, just divide by 10?) we would expect a human to is another.

Some people like to argue about things, push the agenda along, make others believers, etc. No harm or foul ... just ignore the topic and think Liara sex. It works for me ... that and Liara looks at me, shakes her head as she listens to the debates on her species reproduction, mating, stages arguments. Image IPB

Not possible and not going to be fixed, as far as we are led to believe. There was a comment by a dev person somewhere that it wasn't important enough to rate a fix any time soon, if ever.

I never got that though, the game seems intent on implying that thessia got owned hard, but why? Thessia got hit the last of all the other council planets, the game do says it is getting hit pretty hard, but it says the same of Palaven and that planet got hit nearly simultaneous with Earth, and from conversations with Anderson we know that by the time the endgame draws near the reapers had wrapped up the big population centers but still had to make inroads on the countryside around the globe, so it seems it takes tham a while to get their mojo going, and that is on Earth who got hit hard and first

It is not like the reapers dropped 20,000 nukes and killed everyone...they do it the inefficient way to keep the planet as intact as possible as has been seen on the game, and given that the Thessia mission leads to Horizon and the endgame, well it would be logical to imply that Thessia got off the easiest (with the exeption of maybe Sur'Kesh), sure if you would not had stopped the reapers it would have been doomed but you did stopped them one crappy way or another...

That whole dialogue after Thessia feels really forced like the writers wanted you to feel bad about having lost the info on Thessia, but all I could think of while my Shep was whining about losing was "hey cerberus got the data let's go after them! stop crying about it and move it shep!"

Also to answer the original question  I would have to pick Illium I love how that planet looks and feels!

What Liara's writer said:

Sylvf wrote...
I'd love to get a fix bundled into a patch, but I'm afraid I can't promise anything. If Liara reacts properly in her investigate hub - the conversation with repeatable questions - to whether or not you completed Shadow Broker, the initial line is a one-time thing and much less likely to get targetted in a patch.

Not game breaking so no high priority - guess we will have to wait and hope ...

This is the type of bug that BioWare has never been compelled to fix after release, in any of its games going back rather far. ME2 has quite a few of these cosmetic bugs that will never get fixed as well.
