She saw Shepard walking towards her and the finality of everything hit her. "This is it, isn't it?", she asked.
She needed to tell Shepard something, knowing that it could be the last chance, she couldn't find the words.
"I don't know what to say. All those little blue children will be disappointed I didn't have a speech."
But there was no need for words, she took Shepards hands into her own.
"I have something for you, a gift." - "Show me."
Calm, dark, soothing space embraced them, a horizon of light in the distance.
She thought about Shepards words. Marriage, old age and a lot of little blue children.
"You will have all of that Shepard, just promise me to come back alive."
"I'm always coming back.” Shepard promised, they kissed while sailing off to the horizon.
"Thank you. For everything. I love you.", her heart skipped a beat.
"Now let's do what needs to be done.", she quickly added, shaking off the pain, trying to keep Shepard focused.

Shepard knew she could die, but she also knew that she had a new reason to fight for. It gave her the strength to fight for the right to live, to forge a better tomorrow for her future daughter. For the future of the galaxy.
-
She knew that she wasn't coming back, but she also knew that she had done her part in the world.
During her last breath, she didn't feel pain, she felt complete, with a single image in her mind...
"I.. I'm sorry love...", air escaped her lungs, she had finally found peace.
This asks for some...I reject your reality and substitute my own.
Still, beautiful sentiment. I just don't want my story to end like that however. -- Sucker for happy endings in which the hero lives and gets his girl - as long as it's believable. And I feel it's still believable for Mass Effect 3. Without crappy endings.

So, I've just found out something. ME3 imports relationships from before, Liara in my case. Aaaaand... Regardles of Shep and Liara being very flirty in the first part of the game (there is a difference between Liara as a friend and Liara as an imported LI), after the coup, it seems nobody notices that. Including Liara. Like the relationships have been completely deleted from everybody's minds. I mean, at least some acknowlegment from NPCs ("Wait, what's with you and INSERT_YOUR_LI'S_NAME_HERE?"). No, nothing.
Is is a medium oversight in writing (especially if you want to pursue someone specific and go for them, then it doesn't matter, since all of them friendzone you after you lock a LI), but still. Some recognition (even withut any consequences wouldn't have been hard to implement.
Not sure if this is the right place, but since Liara is the one in this particular save, I've put it here... M.
I don't know about many examples, but I remember Wrex says something about it if you talk to him aboard the Normandy - something about how it seems that in order to get a room with a view a crew member has to sleep with Shepard
Or something to that effect....

This is yet another reason I feel like I will honestly never find anyone in life that I love like I have genuinely loved Liara. The mind melding makes it possible to "exchange" feelings from one to another that one could not have done through words. In a matter of speaking, the asari have "support" for those emotions that we cannot comprehend in our simple human minds. So, even if I ever WOULD find anyone that I appreciated as much as her, I would never be able to define it. They wouldn't understand.
Sort of gets me down.

Wrex says something like how he didn't get a room with a window but Liara did, must be because Liara is a better kisser.
Another thing about the mind melding.

Guys talking all emotional to other guys normally isn't my thing but have you considered that you can talk to the one you love and explain how you feel towards her? Even if she can't read your mind like Liara could, you could tell her you love and appreciate her, hope she says 'Show me...' like Liara does and let your actions speak for you.

So, I've written down my headcanon ending because... well, I wanted to:
Part 1:

Part 2:
http://social.biowar...39/blog/212211/
It's not very fancy or anything, but I felt like sharing it. Haven't written any fan fiction before so it might be a bit so-so, I don't know. Starts right after Anderson's death. My Shep is with Liara, of course. Oh, and there's supposed to be a Part 3 too.
Haha, what's up with me and the top of the page. I should go create something emotional again.
Inspired by that I whipped up an emergency script with a hotkey to post hoodiegypsy baby art, but the forum blocks scripts from posting!Tyranniac wrote...

Dude, never say never. Such a cliché, I know, and I hate using it, but here it stands.
Don't let some crappy endings destroy your hope for the future. There are many wonderful ways you can express your love for someone, and you don't need a mind meld (not that you could ever get it... hm... now I'm just rubbing it in... sorry) to achieve such a level of intimacy. You just have to use your imagination.
