Well, too be fair, Liara gets a fairly large role in the trilogy: Plot integral in ME1, Redemption, LotSB (i.e. only ME1 LI to get some romance DLC), and now SB/plot provider in ME3, replacing Miranda as Shep's XO. That's fine if you like the character but otherwise... well...

Then there's the fact that she's unavailable but I don't get why that's negative - e.g. I don't like Grunt (pointless) or Miranda (myShep shot all Cerberus personnel on sight in ME1...) but that means that I'd preferred an option to not recruit them rather than wanting to kill them.

Liara, Joker, Garrus and Tali get alot of airtime and if I didn't like them well ... I would just have to deal with it. I missed Ashley in ME2, wish that she had more content in ME3 and was romantically open to female Shepard but ... I just deal with it. Bioware doesn't owe me anything ... except a better ending?

I can understand someone not liking a character, there are some characters in the Mass Effect world that I'm not a fan of, would have preferred to not see them, etc ... but I don't foam at the mouth when my Shepard acts all buddy-buddy. I just work it into that RPG ... like Shepard was drunk when she went to talk to Jacob. Image IPB

As to the killing ... I don't get that. I never wanted to kill any of the characters except the reapers and anything trying to kill Shepard. What is it with "I would put XYZ in the airlock." Oh, well. To each his own.

If Liara's past shady connections came to light, it could give groups like Terra-Firma a reason to try and drive Shep and Liara apart. But then, of course, Shepard could just say "I just destroyed a pro-human group that was way better funded than you were, what do you think I'll do to you?" *+500 renegade points* Or something else to make them back off.

Not true, the biotics at grissom academy are supposed to be teenagers (though they use grown up models ) and they seemed just fine, maybe we Liaramancers should get Jack to babysit :o

That  flashback clip was amazing! I specially like how it ended on a good note it been so sad an all, the only bad thing I can say about it is that it uses the horrible Synthesis ending

As for whether Liara is some sort of  "writer's pet" I can not comment since I have only ever romanced Liara so I have no window of comparison.

Eh, I sometimes didn't like the paraphrasing because it didn't really say what I thought it would say, but I could live with it.. Jacob was pretty bad though, at the start. No I don't want to get into his pants! I just want to talk!

And... I don't think I ever disliked anyone enough to want them out the airlock. Zero atmosphere decompression is no way for anyone to die, Shepard knows best. And as Liara put it, she made peace where she could. There's enough killing in the galaxy when people actually like each other, if everyone really disliked one another, that'd be some bad doo doo.

I wanted to kill Kai Leng, and fortunately the game let me. But... ah it doesn't matter..

remember Liara's not "an asari" but the Blue Goddess, the Biotic Goddess, Chocolate Goddess, the owner of those DEM EYES... and all adjectives you can imagine.. and in my opinion it would be a shame if galaxy hero didn't mate her, just think of it: the greatest hero and shadow broker are together... the 2 principal forces who made true the galaxy alliance to stop reapes, so I guess galaxy won't bother if they engage:P

Hey guys. Figured I'd report in after 5 years of staying faithful, across 8 Shepards.

Can anyone attest to ME3's Liara x FemShep romance working as intended? I keep finding reports of dialogue options not being available or events not triggering for FemShep specifically and I'm scared we get the short end of the stick again, like with the audible crying in Lair of the Shadow Broker. Everything seemed fine in my first playthrough, but I wouldn't know if something was indeed missing. I don't have any male Shepards to investigate this with.

Audible crying in LOTSB? Hmm, gotta replay that to know what you mean...

So far as we know, nothing is actually missing from Liara's dialogue, aside from the known bug where she says years instead of months, when mentioning when you two were last together.

I totally had an idea for a post-ME3 fic in which Shep used this little factoid to try and extract some information from Ms. Al-Jilani.  Interestingly enough, that plot point was centered around Shepard/Liara's daughter getting kidnapped, and them thinking there were some human-centric extremists behind it.

I got a rough draft of the first chapter down, but the concept wound up being way too big of an undertaking for me to take any further, what with grad school and all.

As Kilshrek said we only know of a single line being bugged, and it does not affect anything nor is a particularily interesting line anyways

As for the audible crying it seems Males got a more emotional crying from Liara on LotSB due to a bug (femshep should have gotten it too but did not), I can not confirm since I only play MaleShep B)

I don't think it's a bug. If you go back to Liara in LotSB, the other romances aren't locked out, so it kinda makes me feel that it was unofficial. So for me, they haven't officially been dating in 3 years.

The main reason I think it's not a bug, is that the game recognized that me and Liara defeated the Shadow Broker together, but it still didn't change the dialogue for how long they've been together. And both of those statements were during the same conversation.

Thanks! I can stop worrying now.

There's a bug in Lair of the Shadow Broker that causes a sound file of Liara crying (immediately after the boss fight) to not play for FemShep. Way back when there was a thread full of angry FemSheps about it. Even though the scene is otherwise identical for males and females, they never bothered to fix it...

Edit:

The romance portion of the DLC has it's own plot flag, "LiaraRomancedLotSB". It's possible it reads the main LotSB flag correctly, but not the romance one.  Tweaking it in Gibbed's didn't change anything.

Just quickly, I think the lack of VS is more due to their Alliance duties, than any lack of concern for Shepard. Like Adams said, they can't just up and leave their post, no matter how they feel.

No problemo.

Hey, we're only supposed to be 18%, right? According to Bioware's stats anyway. And how many of those 18% romanced Liara? *sigh*

A bug unlikely to ever be fixed, but I got a feel good thing from LOTSB anyway, paragon interrupt kisses! Or was it... I forget... been a while..

But yeah, play as a FemShep with no fear, except for the end..

It did peeve me, but, Liara giving me the cold-ish shoulder hurt more. But yeah, I save her bacon and she comes out all happy, then turns on you. Bah, that's gratitude for you. I wonder how much that had to do with Anderson not being wholly truthful with Shep and Ashley? Hmm..

Just read the last few pages.... WTH is going on? We need to keep this thread lite-hearted and happy. No negativity people.

Also licking Liara's face is much less racy than what we seen in the game for that matter, so I think we should calm down until we actually see some forum rule violated. It's obviously okay to be preemptive, but not to the point of derailing the thread.

Sorry for small rant, but it was jarring to see such a downer mood in this thread. I always come here to get away from such things..

Okay back to happy things:

See, those wandering eyes do get you into trouble. Wandering hands are worse you know.

Anyway, it's not like it's any better if you were loyal, she only says Shep can handle herself, and she had to stay on the objective. Cold. But she more than makes up for it after.

This is what happens after, I'm stealing her canon. Sauce

I am probably alone in this but I liked the harsh treatment Kaidan gave my Shep in Horizon, I hated Cerberus since ME1 and being forced to slave for them in ME2 was really though to swallow for me personally, so when Kaidan shows up and chews me out I was relieved that there was someone out there who stood by what he believed (I still think the Alliance would have been able to take out the collectors eventually)
