You guys should get in and defend Liara.

Am I the only one who wants to fight for her? Besides it's fun to pick a fight with the hater's. They remind me of a bunch of preschooler's crying over who's got the biggest crayon set.

BSN get's boring without those stupid hate threads anyway. Yes I know it's an obvious bait tactic, but I find them amusing, I don't care if I look like a fool for responding, they can kiss my blue behind.

Anything to get my mind off those crappy ending threads.

Nah, I understand the want to defend Liara, but in a manner of speaking, there ain't nothing to defend.

People's experience with certain characters is subjective, their mileage may vary with different characters, as is perfectly normal. But Liara is empirically better than every other companion/NPC.

Only Legion may be older than her. Nobody is prettier than her(YES, OBJECTIVE! :pinched:). Only Samara may be a better biotic. Only Mordin may be smarter. Nobody has her tenacity, except Shepard, and she got it from her. She's a quarter Krogan and still oh-so pretty. She's not too shabby with a gun, but when you have biotics you don't really need to aim well. Oh, and she does kiss rather well.

Put all of that together and you get the towering juggernaut of blue love that is Liara. On a bar chart it'd look like, every other companion, 75, Liara 150. So, there.

Though it makes me reconsider my previous statement. I said the current ME3 ending couldn't possibly get any worse. The very thought of Liara being turned into a Banshee makes me sick. That would definitely be worse than what we currently got.

My reaction to that very unlikely scenario? Turn off the computer, take out all my mass effect stuff, burn it with fire. And then I'll burn all my DA stuff, and then KOTOR, and even BG. And the fire from that shall be as a beacon for rigtheous wrath to descend upon those responsible for the travesty.

*ahem*

And this time it was Joker + FemShep, huh?
Can understand where the discussion came from but that outcome would seriously weird me out [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

I'd just bet there's still one orbital weapons platform functioning in the galaxy, and it'd be tracking Joker for this very scenario. It has an ion beam with his name on it. :P

First he gets me killed, then he takes my girl? Shepard will not stand for this.

I imagine everyone has seen this one by now but I might as well link this video.

It's lenghty but the guy has some great points. And his preferred epilogue mentions settling down and travelling with Liara and having little blue children so that merits linking it even more.:wizard:

@Kilshrek

Very well said and I concur. Garrus may be a better sniper and a true bro. Wrex may be older and have seen more action. Samara is undoubtedly a better biotic, but all this does not matter. Liara is the most amazing character overal. I'd go so far as to call her the best video game character I've ever seen.

Yes, it's a great video and I've begun to spin my head canon around some of his suggestions.

One can only hope that Bioware took a good look at this and some other good videos / articles and at least begins to understand why so many people hate what they did.

If and how they will adress it in ME3's case remains to be seen ...

Simple solution.
Order small, implantable device from Miranda, let Mordin do a quick procedure.
Now every time Joker gets closer than 2m to Liara, his head starts to blink in red and a sirene goes off.
No way for them to get in any compromising moods

And they can use it as a landing beacon when the rescue party arrives on that planet ... not that it would exist in the first place

Ah, I'm cynical enough to know that those suggestions will never happen. If that were to happen, it would have happened from the get go...

I think Bioware nailed the art of multiple endings with DAO, and then for whatever reason... slipped from there.. Fallout 2 had a massive thing of text epilogue, but that was done within the constraints of the technology of the time..

Ok, question time.

What will Liara actually do / work once she and Shep have settled down and the cute little monsters are or are not running around (whatever you fancy)?

I'd think both would want to get a rest from the big politics for a bit, so Liara would probably turn the remains of the SB network over or just switch it off for good. And I can't imagine she wouldn't want to be more than "just mom" either, not in the long run.

So will she write that book with Javik and reprocess all her work on the Protheans then?
Will she still be interested in archaeology at all, now that all the big secrets are out?
Will she be entirely occupied with campaining for the rebuilding efforts on Thessia?
Something else entirely?

Well....ME3 has basically the same base story as DAO: travel the world and help certain groups with their problems so that they can help you defeat an impossibly powerful enemy! Bioware was just less elegant in ending it this time!

But... why is everyone asking this question all of a sudden? Does it suddenly matter a great deal or has everyone just become curious? Hmmm?

Have a : Liara poking fun at Shepard. Kind of.

Oh, there's a fair chunk of the galaxy they haven't seen together yet, I'm thinking they'll go on a galactic cruise with a heavily armed warship for a while, thinking about what to do with their lives. No instant mom thing or anything, they're both young, they both have time to just enjoy their lives for a bit before the serious stuff. Anything else, time will tell...

I think it wouldn't be unlikely for her to get back into archeology. There are the Protheans and she has some first hand experience that she can exploit for book writing, etc. It would be a good time to paint a more realistic picture of them. She already says in her little notes that the current image might not be very accurate.

Then there are other races that were annihilated by the reapers....she could invest time into studying those for example.

She could use her Shadow Broker resources to get more information on all of these things. :)

I can't really picture her as a stay-at-home mom....not really!

The guy in the vid I linked earlier had some nice ideas I had thought of for my own headcanon ending. Basically Shepard is now a big goddamned hero and retires from the alliance (honorary) with a big bag of credits. He and Liara are closely involved in the rebuilding effort, visiting Earth and Thessia regularly but also checking on Tuchanka, Rannoch and Palavan from time to time.

In between helping to rebuild they get lost among the stars in their ship, often disappearing for weeks or months at a time with no clue as to their whereabouts. Until they suddenly arrive back on Earth or Thessia, spend a bit of time there before going on their next private adventure. Gotta love awesome headcanon endings.:wizard:

There's much of ME universe I wish were more information about, like.

"The virtual aliens are a race of some one billion individuals who downloaded their minds into a virtual world aboard a starship long ago to avoid the destruction of their civilization." - guess that's one way to evade the reapers.

and about the derelict reaper

"It is believed that 37 million years ago, an unknown spacefaring race fired a mass accelerator round of incredible speed and power at the Reaper, which hit and disabled it. The round continued moving, eventually impacting the planet Klendagon and creating the Great Rift Valley there."
"The geological record suggests it is the result of a "glancing blow" by a mass accelerator round of unimaginable destructive power. This occurred some thirty-seven million years ago."

ttp://images.wikia.com/masseffect/images/c/c8/Great_Rift.png
We should've just made tons of those cannons and blast them away, to hell with the godchild!

If Liara wanted something to work with ancient races, I'd have lots of stuff for her to figure out!

@PMC: And what if Shepard dies after let's say.. a year after the reapers have been defeated? Won't you want at least to have a child, who will continue your kin? Kinda surprised if you say no, even for you. I too would want a non-stop melding sex with Liara for at least 10 years and then pop-up 5-10 babies at once.

Shepard believed Liara when she said a baby between them would only be Liara's ... and it was confirmed by the "Blue Rose" asari. So no ... she would not mate with Liara to further her line.

Now Shepard may want her own children and therein may lie the rub. How would Liara deal with the fact that she cannot meet that need (sperm)? That would be an interesting problem and one that I could see happening. Shepard wanting to be a mother, carrying her child, having her child. She is in her matron stage after all.

Lol what? Why would Liara just want your babies when the real reason why there is even going to be blue babies is because Shepard mentioned them in LOTSB? She shows more than once that she cares enough for you and is not using you in any way.  Weird.
Mother or father what is the difference, really? She still has the same responsibilities just as Liara has ( even more so since the father is the head of the family ) The only difference here is that she won't give birth to the child.

Buuuut i won't judge you. It's your Shepard, your story and we all should get what we want!

You really want those blue babies so much I think you missed what I was saying.

I did not say that Liara wanted Shepard to have a baby ... I asked how it would impact Liara if Shepard decided that she wanted to have her child. I know weird that a woman would want to personally experience motherhood, carrying the baby, feeling it move inside her, etc. etc. We always talk about Liara having the baby but how would it impact the relationship if Sheplard herself wanted the baby?

And there is a difference if Liara gives birth or Shepard ... species for starters. The father being the head of the family I'll just leave for others to debate since that wasn't what I was discussing.

I Don't know it would be pretty weird for my Shep to have Liara's baby's he might end up on Oprah if that happens:unsure:

If you ask me, I would prefer Shep and Liara to keep their relationship secret. Pretty much only Anderson, Hackett, Wrex, Shep's squad and crew should know about it.
So, I would say that Shepard is honored as a hero, drops off the grid, marries Liara and they both help Thessia and Earth...While staying together. And also occasionally visiting Garrus, Tali and Wrex.
And maybe have Javik live with them for a while and all three would write the book.
