If she's bi it wouldn't  ruin the game, it would just annoy me

YOU don't want her to be bi because it offends YOUR sensibilities. Don't play the game and hit on her with a FemShep then. Problem solved.

Not really I'm an Ash fan, not just because she's romanceable, Ash all of a sudden being bi seems forced and doesn't give the Ash I knew in ME1 justice.

It'll only seem forced if it's written horribly.

No, it will seemed forced.  Just like if they all of a sudden wrote Garrus to be bi.  Doesn't fit.

Riiight. But there aren't any problems of him suddenly liking FemShep even though there was never a hint of interest in ME1. You think it doesn't fit because you have a preconceived notion that everyone is straight. Unless they explicitly state their orientation, it's all up for interpretation.

Sexuality changes are not forced, tey're natural, especially when ther's never been a character tocomeout and say "I'm straight, no if ands or buts" Just ,ike in real life, they are sudden and can take a while to get used to. "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" VS loses s/s Shepard realizes they would have dated him/her. Shepard comes back "I might do it...if they're intersted" Hell it could be a "I trust you Shepard" thing that could be the one person they'd "go gay" for.

Why are people making these kind -of threads. Is there a way to block these from poping up while I'm online.

I definately think Ash could and should be a case of this.

But then, you think everyone should be gay for some reason.

And if someone shows interest in the opposite sex while showing no interest in the same sex during an otherwise-identical scene, there's really only one interpretation for that.

Also, I'm sick of this "we'll only accept someone is straight if they explicitly say so", because really, who does that?. Not to mention it sets a ludicrously high standard (Hell, even most characters whose heterosexuality is pretty much their defining character trait don't explicitly say they're straight).

Couple of counter points. 1. Yes, there are certain relationships that would feel wierd and shoehorned in if they were to go S/S all of a sudden, but not simply because of the interest or non-interest in MShep or Femshep, but because they do not match our personal conceptions of the characters. Miranda, Tali, Jack, and Ashley could all go F/F and it would be fine to me, but Jacob, Thane, Garrus, Kaiden, going M/M and Kasumi going F/F would be odd. (See a pattern? Kasumi being an oddity.)

2. To be fair the current standard is ABSOLUTELY NOT GAY UNLESS THEY SCREW A DUDE/CHICK AND SAY THEY'RE GAY, SOMETIMES STILL NOT, and if they do turn out gay they're defo gay cause bisexuality isn't real.
A lot of black and white here.

3. Any character that has their orientation(not sexuality, Isabela did that just fine.) as their defining character trait is a poorly written character straight or gay or bi or whatever.

I've been waiting for this since it was removed from ME1; My Shepard and Ash are destined to be together!

When i made my very first Shepard it was a FemShep. I wasn't even aware of the fact, that you could have a romance with some of the squadmates, when I started the game.
Over time, I developed that image in my head that Ash and my FemShep might have more going on than just a professional relationship and I started to imagine a developing romance (because I think a good romance adds a little flavour to every story,) until I realized that there were actual romances in this game.
I was happy at first and then sad since there was no way for my FemShep to express her feeling for Ashley.
I adjusted, because it is more in my nature than to b*tch and whine about things that are or aren't and Ashley was reduced to bff.

When they announced, they would finally do 'real' s/s romances in ME3, I was happy at first and then ecstatic and then sad, because it dawned on me, that they probably won't make Ash available for FemShep, unless they go with the DA2 system that adjusts to the PC's sex.

Until recently I was fine with Ash just being a friend to some of my FemSheps, but the more and more I read discussions about it, especially from those who are strictly opposed to the option (talk about a vocal minority!!!) the part in my heart that wants a FemShep-Ashley romance is growing every day.

As someone who 'retconned' his own life at the age of 26 to also include S/S romance though appearing strictly hetero in the years prior to this event, I know it can be done in a believeable way. My life hasn't been cheapened by going bi; quite the contrary!

So yes: FemShep + Ashley = Victory!

If they decide to keep Ashley strictly hetero, I will be allright with it, but at least give my FemShep the option to confess her love to Ash at the risk of being turned down.

Despite not having a traditional happy end, the Samara 'romance' is one of the best in ME2, imo, because it is emotionally more powerful than most of the other 'real' romance scenes.
If you won't give us the actual romance, Bioware, than let us have at least something like this.

I never said I took no issue with what they did to the characters of Garrus and Tali in ME2.  You make the same mistake that you accuse me of: assumption.
Thank you for telling me what my mindset is.  I have no preconceived notion of their orientation, I have a developed notion of what their orientation is based on their actions throughout the story in Mass Effect.  If any character was going to have a "moment" with Shepard (regardless of sex or orientation) it was going to be before Ilos....that's the way the story played out.  My Shep was male, and I never got any inclination that Kaidan was bi during any of the conversations he had with him.  So I didn't except to have to turn him down at any point during the game.

Don't try and over analyze my opinion.  It's just that, it's based solely on storytelling and nothing on my views of sexuality and gamers.

Ash is a Christian, and grew up with three sisters. It would be out of her character for me. Besides I don't want ME3 to turn into a DA2 with romances. That failed. I'm fine with other characters being bi, like Liara. I understand that.

This. I'm fine with femshep being the only girl Ash wants to be with. That how I have it in my game, other than Shepard he likes guy, it's like experimenting in college I guess.Image IPB

This is how I'd like to see Ashley and FemShep.  It starts off like a friendship, but being two people in a situation no human ever experienced before, they end up closer and closer together.

Then they have a hot makout scene.  Can you beat that? :whistle::whistle:

It fits perfectly.  A lot of gays go out of their way to make noise about how being gay shouldn't be so much as acknowledged.  Nevermind Garrus or Ashley living along side these other people while never being comfortable with themelves.  Eventually, they just sort it out.  In the ME games, Ashely and Garrus (and a certain someone else) eventually sort it out.

I don't see Ashley as coming out of the closet as bi or gay.

Partly because of her "conservatism" religion (I know that isn't mutually exclusive) but also that her age seems to suggest that she is (has) passed the period of doubt.

Tali's age on the other hand would make more sense to me that she could be in an age of doubt.

Ash says, she believes in God, that is a long way from being religious or even christian. People and their assumptions!

I agree with you. Ashley has always been open with herself and others about her beliefs. I can't see her turning gay or bi all of a sudden.
