I'm a Big-Fan of the Kelly/Shepard relationship as well.And the OP perhaps more so than anyone else hear defends thier romance the best.

But thier is one hitch to Shepard going official with Ms.Chambers.From an in-game - in-universe perspective.How would it look.HBO's In Treatment is like one of my all-time favorite series.In the first season thier was this big plot of was Paul (the therapist - potrayed by Gabriel Byrne) going to have an intimate relationship with a former patient - a young attractive doctor, Laura (potrayed by Melissa George)

As fond as I am of Kelly, doesn't she sort of cross some ethical bounds by getting involved with Shepard? Even though he is not technically her patient.But more than this.How would it look, for Commander Shepard.Captain of the Normandy.The first human Spectre.Savior of the Citadel.To be dating his ships counciler? I can see the Media outlets in the Mass effect universe just smelling blood in the water like sharks.With such a  TMZ Worthy Story as this.

his enemies would bring into question Shepard's mental fitness and so forth and so on."Is Shepard's pretty therapist girlfriend.His crutch as well?" There are some real challenges to the two of them being together -- but that's no reason for them to not give it a shot.

As you said, Shepard is not Kelly's patient.  She's there to monitor the crew, not Shepard.  It is assumed going in that Shepard is ready for this task; that's why Cerberus revived her in the first place.  Also, she's not an official therapist or counselor.  Her official title is yeoman, and her analyses are, as she says, entirely unofficial.  So, no, I don't think any ethics are being breached.  She's not a practicing psychiatrist who schedules hourly sessions on the couch for Shepard.

As for the "first human Spectre" dating Kelly, who cares?  I'd say a relationship with Tali or Garrus is 100% more "TMZ worthy" than dating a yeoman with a psych degree. 

One might try to argue that fraternization within the military isn't allowed, but then we can say that A) Kelly isn't part of the Alliance, and, that didn't stop Ash/Kaidan hookups.

So there is no real reason anywhere why Shepard can't or shouldn't be with Kelly.

This is the Kelly support thread, for all intents and purposes.  I see no real point in adding "Supprt Thread" to the title other than making it look identical to all the other ones, which I don't feel is necessary.

At the end of the day, this thread helps with whether or not Kelly will be in the game as the guys at bioware view it regularly, the more people that support Kelly in ME3 the more likely it is to happen.
(I know this because I recived an email with regards to something about Dragon Age 2 & the help guy said to post it on the forums as it is often reviewd by bioware staff)
So just keep posting your support & you never know, you could help change the game.

True, Cerberus has no rules against fraternization, but that does make it one of the few corporations that doesn't. In most jobs I've held, the standard has either been to not date your subordinate or your supervisor; some even required you to submit any workplace romance to HR so they can keep an eye out for romance-induced bias.

Even so, Shepard seems to have pretty loose rules regarding fraternization; all potential LIs are squadmates -people he has direct command over in the field- and (s)he hasn't been called on it yet. The only LI who isn't a field operative is Kelly, which makes it less likely for the Kelly/Shepard relationship to be forced to end.

i've always liked kelly. though i felt her romance, if you can even fully call it that was a bit underwhelming.

i sorta wish it was treated as a full romance rather than a weird side thing that can be interpreted as a romance or not depending on how you roleplay it.

in whatever capacity, i do hope she's in ME3 in the same role she was before, the first thing i'd do after each mission in ME2 was talk to kelly to hear her little comments "do we really have a baby krogan in the cargo hold?"

Kelly's romance isn't up to interpretation. If you get her email and invite her up to the cabin then you're romancing her.

You only get to decide whether it's serious or just a "fling", like with all the other romances. The only difference is that you can't break up with her, as that would have required extra dialogue that wasn't recorded. So instead you have 3 distinct paths with Kelly: professional, friendly (which may or may not include the 'dinner date'), and romantic.
