Shiala is the sexiest asari in the ME franchise as far as I'm concerned.

Not that I would frown on her wearing something revealing, but it's funny how the Asari with the most promise can be thought of as sexy and still not be (over)sexualized the two times we see her.

Agreed. Aside from being green now (which is kind of a weird side affect for asari considering it has no effect on human color, some weird biology there). I hope we can help her get purple again (and back into those commando leathers).:P

What I like most about her is her characterization. She doesn't beg for her life or anything, she asks if she can help the colonists, and if you decide she must die, she accepts it, kneels down and lets Shepard pop her in the head, understanding it's a reprecussion of her actions. That comes across as a very honorable person to me.

She also seems very loyal to me (despite rensheps assertion that she changes sides too often) in that she was an acolyte of Benezia, and she followed her leader strait into the mouth of hell with the best of intentions, just like Shepard's squad does for him. The only difference is that Shepard and his squad seem to be immune to indoctrination, whereas Shiala and Benezia obviously were not.

Wich brings me to the most fascinating thing about her to me; She is the only known being to have recovered from reaper indoctrination. Don't know if the thorian spores had something to do with her recovery, but she clearly remembers what it's like to be indoctrinated. That knowledge could prove very useful in helping to develop a countermeasure for spending lots of time in close proximity to reapers (like, say, during a reaper invasion).

Also she's really good at delivering exposition.

I hope she be important, I'm sure she will be. Yes Shiala my second best and favorite character Of Mass Effect beside beloved Liara. I guess we will just have to wait and see, I', sure she will be in Mass Effect 3 and maybe and I hope Romancable too. Liara and Shiala. :3

Shiala: Because EVERYONE should be a LI.

It does get a little tiring when just about every character with a decent amount of screen time gets a thread demaning they be made romanceable.

But with Shiala and Gianna Parasini it does at least make some sense. Both characters will flirt with Shepard if he's male and generally friendly towards them. Shiala outright suggests they hook up when he's not busy saving the galaxy.

I'm not sure either should be party members or true LIs, but wouldn't be opposed to something along the lines of the Asari consort in ME1 or Isabela in DA:O.

^Also this. It feels like Bioware was setting her up in ME2 for a possible romance situation.

A few of my Shepards would have no problem romancing a non-squadmate.

Pretty much.

Shiala is really likable. I wouldn't be opposed to some kind of romance option.

Anybody know what does name "Shiala" means? Obviously, many asari's have arabic names like Samara, Shaira, and Rana. But what about Shiala?

I doubt that her name has a meaning, at least not intentionally... I am not sure if it was Casey Hudson or another BioWare guy. But if I remember correctly one of them stated, that they have created a name generator which creates random names for their games...

I don't know how close this is (and I can't believe I'm using wikipedia for this): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheila

Sheila (alternatively spelled Shelagh and Sheelagh) is a common given name for a female, derived from the Gaelic name Síle/Sìle, which is believed to be a Gaelic form of Julia or Cecilia. Like "Cecil" or "Cecilia", the name means "blind", from the Latin word caecus. There is also an etymologically unrelated Indian name (alternatively spelled "Sheela"), which is rooted in the Sanskrit word शील (Sheel), meaning "noble," and is a common name across the country.

It might be closer to the Sanskrit name.

A lot of ME names do have articulate meaning that really base the general idea of the characters.

You have to think about who she is exactly.

While Rana has potential herself, she doesn't have what Shiala does.  She can lend aid in figuring out who is indoctrinate, but ultimately we would be concerned with nullifying indoctrination itself.

I hope Shiala reappears in ME3 with hopefully a bigger role than ME2. A possible romance too if you spared her in the first game and helped her in the second.

What a shame for PS3 users that they'll never get to see Shiala in ME2 and ME3. I was hoping that some of my Shepards would be able to romance a green alien Captain Kirk style.

Can't PS3 users mod their save files? I'm probably wrong, but I thought that since it uses (well earlier versions allow for linux and...) windows that it would be easy to change things around if you wanted.

^ This.

Hi, I'm new to the forum *waves*
I always thought of Shiala as potential love interest and competition; she could even replace Chakwas in an extreme situation.

was i the only one who thought that the renegade choice to kill her in the first game was kindda strange? Even for a renegade shep it made little sense to me. More like an execution just for the sake of it.
