Okay, we all know how Thane is not going to make it for long. Which is sad.

Now, what I anticipate is that Thane can (if it would be my choice in writing "will") die in ME3 given how little time he has left.

How would all those that romanced him in ME2 react to this?

This speculation in here does foremost NOT include the availability for a cure, for simply dramatic/tragic effect. How much an impact would it have one your perception of the character, the romance and ME3 in your opinion.

To ignite a healthy discussion, I'll just throw in a similar decision like good old Virmire (mixed up with a bit Archdemon endfight like when you romanced Alistair and he sacrifices himself for you). This of course implies other LIs could die the same way (and will be favoured in that regard just like Thane would).

What do you think?

Keep in mind this is NOT a "I want [Character] dead!".

Thank you

While I admit that Thane's romance is quite simply the best in the series as far as I'm concerned, I'm not all that sure his death, if it ever happens, will be handled as well as I'd like it to be, for which reason I like to play it safe and hope he just makes it through the entirety of ME3. He really was the only reason I bothered playing through ME2 more than twice, as the game in general just wasn't what I wanted for it to be.

How can we speculate about Thane without thinking about a cure?  I'm hoping that if he goes for a transplant that he can live long enough for the research to have found a cure :D. This makes good sense within what we already know from LoTSB and that he know has good reason to try and live.

I'm quite sure that he can die in ME3, and that's fine, but I sincerely hope that this is not set in stone - that would be absolutely horrible, and would destroy replayability to a massive extent for me (and I expect many Thane fans).  I expect that there will be scenarios where many or all LIs can die and again I hope that these are choices rather than facts.

I'm not one for 'glorious death' scenarios, I'm more of a 'nobody left behind' kind of gal.

If Thane's going to die in ME3, I hope it will be a memorable moment! I know Bioware can handle dramatic deaths in a good way, like in Da2 (haters go away!!), so I have faith in them. Even if, technically, ME3 is done by a different team thane DA2, but I digress.

While I really like Thane,I think it's better if they don't suddenly find cure for him. Would kinda make his entire story and motivations in ME2 pointless.

Will Thane even be in ME3? Seems like too much effort to put in a meaningful death scene for Thane (if he even survives the suicide mission in your save) so Bioware will probably just half arse it like they do with everything these days and just have an email from Kolyat telling you how Thane dies.

Would be likely if he wasn't a full-fledged love interest.

No.  Thane's motivations arguably change during the course of ME2, he reconnects with his son, and maybe ends up with a good friend and possibly lover in Shepard.  He finds a reason to live, and a reason to seek the treatment that he has thus far refused.  That's how I see Thane's journey in ME2, frankly, if he doesn't seek treatment given the change in his life he's being a bit of a dick.

Bioware doesnt give a **** about your choices, I thought that was made clear already in both DA2 and ME2?

Which is why I hope BioWare gives us the Sucker Punch and has to make us choose for either finding a cure for Thane are failing another, critical mission.

Which I would of course favour for every LI to happen:
Say your team splits up to pursue multiple goals (again a "Suicide"-Mission like decision, the choice on whom gets to make which mission gives alternate outcomes (though generally favourable of course) with each LI getting into serious problems and you have to either abandon your mission to go to their help or have them fail their mission, effectively ruining the LI (Thane dies, Garrus becomes a fallen angel and has no longer interest in romances, and so forth for example).

But enough on this kind of thinking, the initial question has not fully been discussed just yet. What do you feel at this promise?

While I've never done a Thane romance or whatever I hope we get to see him in action in ME3. With the new focus on melee attacks you would figure this is something Thane would excellent at.

I really don't want to go off-topic here, but this is ME3, not ME2 or DA2. It's where everything you've done pays off before your very eyes. BioWare has said as much.

Now, you will excuse me if I ask you not to further argue this point as it is well off-topic. I'm willing to continue the debate through PM if you so choose, but not in here.

Thane romance is the best in ME series. From what I heard he's going 2 appear in ME3 aswell, I wonder if the romance actually continues. Theres hope that even after that heartbreaking letter he sen Shepard in ME2 that appears in Shadow Broke's logs theres a possibility that he'll be ok, cause at one point when talking 2 him in ME2 Shepard asks if theres anything 2 be done about Thanes condition and Thane replies that it's been attented 2 and such. Perhaps theres a slight chance that they actually discover the cure 4 Thane's condition by the time he and Shepard see each other again in ME3... it would be too sad 2 see Thane die.
