Nailed it. I agree completely!

And of course, it'd be just as easy to make an alien race - like the salarians - that have 90% male members due to some quirk of biology, though I'm a little uncomfortable with applying human behaviour to that. I think Bioware actually had an interesting thing going, in terms of salarian mating and trading influence between families given that there was no natural sex drive.

I wrote a couple new ME3 endings with romance options for Kaidan and MShep. And Liara and Femshep (although I don't know if that counts with Asari but Liara is an amazing woman.)

Racist? I don't think so. So far in ME1 I never see her act harshly to Wrex, Garrus or any male alien. She reminds me of a wolf **** that trying to mark her territory. She wants Shepard all for herself. After she step in Normandy first time, before heading Citadel, she keeps yelling to Shepard everytime you pass her by. Do I blame her? Nope. If Shep would hug me like he did to her while rescuing her from beacon, I would be all over the guy.Image IPB

However it can be due I let her rot in Normandy after getting Garrus. My team mostly Kaidan and Garrus/Wrex. I love poking Kaidan on ME1 also. His comments on Noveria make me smile everytime (the one he mentions his mother and I think I have snow in my boot one).

If anything your excuse/explaination of Ash's behaviour kind of upsets me. Women who turn into nasty b****es who act like a dog in heat whenever they meet a guy they like are one of my pet peeves. If the only way I could turn a guy's head was to be a total b**** to all the other women around me, I wouldn't want to date that guy. And if a woman thinks that the only way to get a guy to notice her is to be a total b**** and any and all women who cross her path, I honestly think she isn't worth knowing.

And how can you hate Joker for not being a professional and yet you think it is "cute" when Ash is being unprofessional because she is interested in Shep.

Also Ash is mean to Tali and Liara reguardless of the gender of your Shepard. Quarians are used to be discriminated against (as shown in ME2 & 3) also Liara is shy and socially awkard, both being the perfect targets for bullies. Meanwhile Garrus and Wrex wouldn't tolerate that kind of BS if Ash decided to bully them (and yes I viewed Ash's behaviour as bullying).

Umm I didn't mean to upset you. I have that impression from Ashley's behavior maybe because I saw some ladies in past doing it... very often.  Especially on school days. Yes it is immature just like what some guys do in a  similar situation with fist fights. Which I found kind of insulting to the object of their affection. Like that particular person unable to decide who he/she wants to be with, they try to bludgeon themselves and their interest on him/her.

I don't hate Joker because he is unprofessional. I dislike his lack of modesty (yeah I get it he has an ailment but cry me a river, many people has ailments and can do great things but that doesn't give anyone right to be a jerk about it), his lame preferences (prefering a ship over the guy who saved your life and got spaced because of your very same attidute). Only good thing about Joker is his piloting skills. I can never be friends with a person like him.
Well as you know I am just started playing ME1 and still need to complete my first run with paragon male Shep. Of course my impression on people will change after a female and a renegade run.  If Ashley acts similar with female Shepard then I will be happy to renegade her everytime. I don't like bullies (act of jelousy is different than bullying as both sides are equal in some sense) as I've been their target sometimes on high school.

Uh oh... Now I am feeling bad about romancing Kaidan. He is more like me than I like to think. Of course I have that Miranda attitude on me also. If you think Kaidan also cold, distant and can be b*tchy sometimes well then Kaidan is 100% me than romancing him makes me what? A narsist?Image IPB

Thane's recruitment mission... You get an e-mail if you saved the salarian workers...

From: Jeirt

Greetings, Commander Shepard

Liara T'Soni gave me your contact information. I was one of the cleaning crew in the Dantius Towers. You helped me get out of there. According to T'Soni, you also found Thane. He took down some of the Eclipse mercs trying to gun us down, and I wondered if you could pass along my thanks.

The way he moved... one was dead before they even knew he was there. He snapped another's neck, then shot a third, all in the space of a few heartbeats. It was incredible. He moved like a dancer, grace and power in constant motion.

Seeing him changed my life, woke up something in me I don't fully understand yet. I don't know what I'm going to do, but salarian lives are too short to waste as custodians, especially when there's so much else out there. I'm going to find something that lets me capture what I saw in him, that beauty, that aesthetic perfection.

I'm also going to buy some nice clothes.

So if you could tell him that... or just whatever parts of that you think appropriate... I'd appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Jeirt

Hmm I know this mail and had quite laugh about it while imagining poor guy got himself killed while playing assasin out there.

I take it more admiration to Thane's deadly assasin grace more than something sexual. It is more like fascination of a child who sees acrobats for the first time or watching his first super hero movie.

Sorry must have gotten you confused with someone else. Someone said here they didn't like Joker because he was unprofessional and I have always assumed it was you who said that. So again my apologies.

I never play renegade/dark side/way of the closed fist/whatever term you wish to use because some of the things that are said and done make me feel so slimey. But I was told that if you play a renegade Shep you can actually encourage Ash's anti-alien setiments because in ME1 renegade options were always the xenophobic comments, people have complained that they couldn't play a renegade Shep without making him/her a xenophobe and they didn't like that.

LOL! I hope I didn't say he is unprofessional in some place. Honestly I even see Joker too professional compared to James or Jacob.

Renegade play depends on how you play them, just like Paragon. I never play whole renegade or paragon unless it is my intent. If I use renegade or paragon that means character has more paragon/renegade points and choose options suiting his "calling".  On ME sometimes renegade options sounded a bit dumb. I couldn't complete my renegade shep runs on ME3 yet as I keep running Matt/Kaidan ones.Image IPB

However during genophage both renegade and paragon acts looks very emotional and epic. Shep's throwing his/her gun after shooting Mordin with regret is very well done. He/she makes a bigger sacrifice than paragon one in some sense. I found myself mutter "Stupid Mordin, Why you made me do that?" on behalf of Shepard. Also Mordin's reactions are awesome.

I find that astonishingly difficult to believe. Salarians don't have sex drives.

Edit: Admiration of aesthetic beauty is not sexuality.

That's really simplistic.

And I find it fitting.

Hmm which race I would be in ME? I like drell but can't see myself as one. Not warlike Krogan or too dedicated to society like a Turian. Dumb enought to not qualify as a Salarian. Probably an Asari then. An asari assasin. Lovely and deadly. Like Asari Bond.

That way I could also bang a Krogan, a drell, a salarian, a vorcha and Kaidan. Image IPB

If Eve dies and Wrex died on Virmire you have a chance to talk him out of curing the genophage.

Just hearing that, made me want to go through the game again so I can muck up Virmire and have Wrex die and then destroy Maelon's data just so Mordin can run tests on those seashells.

You mean a feminine-looking Asari, Asperius? :)
In my case... hmm... that would be a strange race... You'd have to take salarians' keenness on science, protheans' sensory ability, asaris' skin colour and way of thinking combined a bit with that of turians'... I don't have a name for such a hybrid, neither do I know what would it look like, but most probably like an all-male race equivalent to Asari :P ...which would mean I could have Kaidan, Vega nad Cortez... that's terryfying!

For doing that you need to destroy the cure during ME2. I will do that on my renegade shep run just to save Mordin.

You can kill Wrex with ME2 save editor easily.

Worst part about that path is Wreav stays alive... I hate that guy.

Edit: There is a video of that choice on Youtube. Mordin just walks away but I doubt he doesn't have enough will to entertain himself with seashells.

Also there is a way to save Thane. Not recruiting him on ME2. That cost Captain Kirahe tho'. If he also ain't alive Salarian Counciler dies and you have to shoot down your VS friend.

Yep. It is not really about being able to bang everything in galaxy (well on a second thought everything except Volus, most annoying race of the galaxy). Asari is the only race I can relate to.

Thane only had three months or so to live when you recruit him. Which I personally found to be a horrible character developmental ploy. I remember when people were claiming that Thane wouldn't be in ME3 because he would have died in the months between ME2 & 3. You knew that either his disease or the war would cost Thane his life in ME3 if he appeared, the writers managed to do both. Don't get me wrong, I found Thane's death beautiful, it just why did they write him as dying? Between the "Carth syndrome" and "I suddendly have a kid and he/she is in trouble" trope was "I've only got 3-6 months to live so I don't fear death" thing really needed.

I find the mere adding of trope after trope (which have usually been done to death) just tacked on to a character a sign of laziness in the character development.

I guess you didn't romance with Thane. On top of all those things you said, femShep asks him, a guy whose can't have enough oxygen in his blood, for some private time... I guess that is another way of end his suffering, at least he would die happily.Image IPB

Hah when he called my Shep, Siha (hmm or was it Sita... I don't remember it sounds like monkey name so went with Siha) I was horrified. Thought it is his dead wife's name.

Oh and on Thane's death. Yes it is good he is passing away as hero however his fight scene is silly. 3 gawking idiots (Shep and company) look meekly to assasin lying there. No matter what class is Shepard is good at shooting so he could fill Leng's abdoment with bullets. More in my case Garrus mostly there who can shoot him without running down with his huge spiner rifle. Liara can turn him into pulp with her biotics. EDI can fry him alive. I guess James can headbutt him at least. They just wanted to plant some anger in player by letting Kai Leng kill Thane. Otherwise Kai Leng would be lame space ninja assasin with little importance... hmm yeah he still is but at least you get that "This is for Thane!" awesomeness while killing him.

I take your point, Daashi, and agree with it, but as a theater professor, I'll tell you that it's pretty true that everything has already been done.  Tropes come from long-standing, proven dramatic devices, so I don't mind them ... when they're done well.  Everything modern was already done by Shakespeare, and Shakespeare just stole from the Greeks and Romans ... who stole from ... etc., etc.

So it doesn't bug me ... as long as they allow the build, and, yes, as Asperius says, sometimes the cutscenes are so ... illogical.  As an aside, it also drives me nuts that even if Shep is a biotic, he never has any biotic cutscenes ... always just shootin' with the gun ... I know why, but I still hate it.  However, that's fodder for another thread.

Back to this one:  so the tropes can be fine if they're allowed to build up from logic.  I totally agree with Daashi, though, that sometimes it feels like writer-laziness.

Oh Kai Leng was suppose to be some bada**** ninja wannabe from the books and comics, he just came across as lame in the game, added to fact that someone decided that he should keep his comic book appearance, which made him look stupid. Aside from Thessia, Leng kept on being punked.

One more problem, how is it that the only ME2 squaddie that appears in the main story that can live is Miranda (Mordin can only live if he meet a series of different markers and Legion has two options; he/it sacrifices him/itself or you kill him/it), if you played ME2 and Miranda was loyal to you then somehow that loyality somehow makes her able to able to survive Leng attacting her. Which begs the question; which character does the ME team have a bigger hard-on for Miranda or Liara?
