I know it's hardly what I should be focusing on here, but the little thigh dagger in combination with all that just cracks me up.

I despise that, though is is a good way of telling which characters you're supposed to hate.AngelicMachinery wrote...
It would be nice to have more physical builds for female and male characters. Until than I'm sick of bad ass female marines having to deal with creepy flirting and scenes where males question her abilities. Personally I wish there was a krogan head butt interupt whenever such a scene comes up.
I just find it absurd that any man would make creepy advances or question the abilities of a woman wearing a suit of power armor, carrying up to FIVE different guns, (and no less than three) and emblazoned with the symbol of the human military's greatest badasses.
It's like they have "SHOOT ME! SHOOT ME NOW!" printed on their foreheads.

Kinda on and off topic but has bioware announced what kind of goodies we import a Shep from me 1 and 2?
No, only that it'll be referenced somehow.
Keep in mind though that they want to reward players who import while also not disadvantaging new players.

Regarding femShep being mocked by random NPCs, I find this gratuitous and really unnecessary. not to mention ridiculously unrealistic.
Patrick Weekes (a writer for BW) likes to include quasi-feminist themes in his work and also stated that he generally downplays gender differences, presenting mShep and femShep as equally capable warriors who are powerful soldiers despite their gender.
I can only hope his philosophy prevails over the sort of crude differentiation that we've seen in the past.
It's even possible to appreciate it as a sort of empowerment option (by giving femShep the chance to verbally or physically beat down the commentators) but I find it tacky. Then again, I'm not a woman.
There's a double standard where mShep's gender-unique options are all women swooning over him (Gianna Parasini and Shiala, in ME2), whereas femShep has to deal with sexist idiots who see something wrong in a heavily armed woman soldier.
It's not a huge part of the game, but at the same time it's not exactly encouraging.

absolutely agree.
we should be wary of foisting our early 21st century societal 'norms' and problems on the mass effect game world. it's a useful medium through which to explore real world issues, but that can be done through the implementation of progressive ideals, by showing how those things have changed over time, and not necessarily through resorting to making those problems persist years into the future.

It's kinda funny, when game has massive violence and bloodshed it's ok. But when it has tiniest bit of same sex romances (with a guy, girls are ok i guess) or cursing... NO WE CANT HAVE THAT!!!!
It's been crazy in the past few days. I'm stunned by how many threads there are about it.
It's seriously not that big a deal - isn't it?

I don't like m/m stuff myself, straight as straight can be, but i don't mind it being there even if they do slip a flirt to my male Shepards once in a while i lik ethe f/f stuff though, but that's just a fetish. Everything that makes the game more open gets a +1 from me as long as it is optional.
Hell guys have hitted on me irl and i never minded, just tell them your not into.. That..
And here's King Zeel and his buddies in the troll club when they heard the s/s news:

I'm a bit torn on this myself. Some of it can be rather gratifying (I always enjoy being lippy to Harkin personally), but all the same my FemSheps would really like some swooning! I know it'll make me sound like I'm falling into the whole "lol make everyone bi" boat but I was a bit let down to hear that ManShep can get a kiss from Gianna while FemShep can't. Now forgive the slight tangent but for me, where I'm from it is culturally acceptable for women to kiss each other on the cheek in greeting or when saying goodbye. That certainly doesn't automatically peg them as being either way as far as sexuality goes. I have a fair few heterosexual lady friends that greet or leave me with little cheek kisses and I never stop to think "Oh they're retconing themselves by kissing me..."
Basically what I'm trying to say is I wish FemShep got a bit more affection from NPCs while out and about. I mean, I helped you out twice Gianna, a little cheek kiss isn't going to kill you!
PS: Nashiktal, I completely adore Hammer so I'm happy to hear she's your favorite Hero. I could have done with seeing *her* in Fable 3, not Reaver (Sorry Stephen Fry, you're wonderful but... Hammer!

Yeah, I can appreciate this argument.
The "varying narrative based on gender" concept is fine in and of itself, but the way it's been expressed in-game has been nothing short of awful.
Male Shep gets a kiss from Gianna and a flirty conversation with Shiala.
Fem Shep gets mocked by Harkin and then mocked again by the recruiter on Omega.
A pattern here?
If male Shep could be ridiculed for his gender, or if femShep could get random kisses from attractive people (NB: Gianna has no concept of personal space, let alone enquiring if Shepard wants to be kissed), then it might work better.
But as it is, the gender differentiation falls along absurdly defined stereotypes. It's hardly a consolation that femShep can give snarky responses. Why is the content considered necessary in any event?

I can't comment on Liara, i wasn't even aware she would suggest manshep to have a "nice time" with a girl..Roachbugg wrote...
i wish my Manshep would stop being molested by all the damn women in the universe i wish there was an NO touchie button. The only people i want showing shep affection are his mother and his crew. And i wish i had the option to tell off aria and Liara when they tell me to go find a nice girl to keep me warm *cringe*. "Lemme just say **** please!" "or who said any thing about me wanting a girl?"

Aria however doesn't know you and she, just as the majority of anyone else, assumes Shep's straight. That's pretty realistic, i was never bothered that she told LesShep to go find a nice man..

I'm with you on that one. Whenever Aria says "Go find a nice boy to keep you warm..." I think "Well... my Shep would rather a girl to keep her warm so no, Aria."

You know, I can't remember for the life of me if FemShep gets the flirty talks with Shiala. I know she's a bit suggestive in ME1 but I'm fairly certain there's nothing in 2. It sounds stupid but one of the happiest bits of equality I got was the consort nuzzling FemShep's cheek in 1. I know, that sounds pretty lame but when I first played it I wasn't expecting it. Those nice little bits of affection are what I really appreciate and the fact that FemShep players are cut off from it bums me out.

Well, it all speaks to the double standard: it's okay when homosexual PCs have heterosexual flirtations/themes thrust upon them (it doesn't bother me, though) but the reverse is not okay...for some, even having possible gay content that they the player must initiate is unfair and unacceptable to them.
