yay for gay / bi relationships in ME3 with new characters.

a big fat NAY for changing / rewriting established characters.

.... so it's male/female Kelly Chambers characters all around then? I don't think Kelly Chambers was fondly remembered as a good love interest. The only productive thing to come out of that romance was an automatic fish feeder. Not saying that I hated Kelly as a character. I actually loved some of the interactions between her and my FemShep (I'm right here. *hug*). I just hated how the romance never went deeper than Kelly being a Yeoman who's there just to please the Captain.

I liked the fling for what it was, but I would like it further developed.
Of course, if I had my way I would be allowed to play cupid and make it so two of my favorites would hook up. *pushes Kelly in direction of Joker*

well thats because kelly wasnt written to be a full romance.

so they could easily do a good none-squadmate crew member romance. plus we're getting vega and theres alot of rumors around a chick squadmate as well. with a new alliance crew on the normandy theres plenty of room for potiential well developed bi crewmates.

I also dont get the whole "we hate Kaidan cos hes a whiner" thing.

Never did i ever see Kaidan whine at all. Carth was the whiner. People seem to equate Carth with Kaidan cos it was the same VA (Raphael Sbarge).

HK-47's mockery of Carth in KOTOR 2 was so spot on "Oh master! I do not trust you! I cannot trust you or anyone! Ever again!!!"

Bastila's mockery lines were even better xD

Honestly, given the reception to DA2's bi-sexual romances, having a giant great "hey, this option triggers flirting, ok?" sign tagged next to the associated responses was probably a good thing. Call me cynical, but I'd assume the resulting ****storm amongst some would've been far more virulent had those options been hidden.

If they make Tali an option, I'll be very happy.
My canon playthrough is 100% loyal to Liara, though. <3

I have a femShep concept for every female LI except for Jack.  I'd be stoked for a Tali s/s romance in ME3!

Lol, prepared aren't we? :D

To be fair...

Liara: Alice (canon)
Miranda/Ashley: ****y, cocky, renegade-y spacer/war-hero adept
Tali: Dutiful, paragon-y engineer

So it's really only two other Shepards  ;)

Lol, well I guess we're both set to go. I have a canon-copy game with different VS that is set to go with Ashley or anyone else in ME3 and a renegade playthrough which will end up being with whoever's left over I guess because she's evil and likes to cheat. Heh.

I would say that even if existing LI characters are off the table, that doesn't mean that new s/s options would automatically be shallow relationships. For instance, if the male s/s option selected was Joker, Shepard has a long-standing history with him already, and their romance would automatically have a depth and meaning due to that shared past. And even the Kelly romance could be deepened, her character's depth or lack thereof in ME2 doesn't preclude the possibility of her having an enlarged role in ME2. Especially with Cerberus hunting Shepard, Kelly could have a very intriguing story line about her "crisis of faith" in Cerberus.

The only reason I can't get behind this is because they are so obviously made for each other!

I only have one Shepard now:

Rachel Shepard with Liara

...but will have one single lady named Natalie Shepard for ME3 (she has the hots for Miranda though).

Uh..that's it!

I'd cry manly tears of shame if they made either available for romances or flings.
I want them to be together so much!

Well, it's no secret that Gaby has a huge crush on Ken, and if those two can get past a hurdle or two, I see them ending up together.

Personally, I would like to see more pairings that don't include Shepard. I could see a Ken/Gaby relationship easily, as well as Kasumi/Jacob, Joker/Kelly, Kaidan/Miranda, and Zaeed/Chakwas. The aliens I kinda don't see pairing off with each other, except maybe Tali and Garrus.

Err no.  Time was only an issue in the first one.

No, the sharing-scripts account also talked how they would have to create new cutscenes for s/s romances and rewrite dialogues that didn't fit/make sense after copy pasting lines from opposite-sex romances which means time issues

IsaacShep, I like you, I've read your post and I like you, but I can't take it. Every time I read this reason for making Kaidan and Ash bi (and you are not alone in saying this), it makes my eyes cross.     It doesn't matter what might have been in the game, it matters what was put in the game.  I dated a guy once who said, if you had known me before you would have known I was married.  I didn't know him before.  If in ME3 they make Ash and Kaidan bi then they make them bi.  But saying they might have made them bi in ME1 drives me nuts :o because they didn't make them bi in ME1.  <sigh>

I vote for Big Ben guy even if he does have a big clock, or mabe because he has a big clock.

@Marshall and SilentNukee

I'm still working on my concepts but I have a bit of an idea of what I hope for.

Liara and Kathryn (canon)
Liara and Shai (canon)
Gaga Shepard - flings with new female interest, Kelly, Tali...who knows?
Cora Shepard - I started her in ME2 to romance Miri via a gender swap but hopefully the romance will be available in ME3 so I don't have to do the damn swap
Someone Shepard - Ashley. I don't have her name yet but she's always had feelings for Ashley but put duty first before love.

:wizard: Someone's really ready for ME3! Lol.

but alien romances are already so awkward and unbelievable that a s/s alien sexual relationship seems completely insane lol. i mean m/f alien sexual relationshps make pretty much no sense as it is already. no need to make it even more immersion breaking. i mean the garrus and tali romances are facepalm worthy simply due to logistics. it's like being in a sexual relationship with a super intelligent dog, completely different species, biologically and phisologically arent compatable, no biological attraction and well, kinda gross when you think about the details.

Hell Isay the romances theselves were done better in DA2 than ME and ME2. At least I didn't get someone thinking we were an item because I wanted to dicuss their family. =]

Y'know, I'd have to agree. As much as I saw all that criticism about Anders hitting on player characters the one time and how apparently unbareable it was to deal with, romance interests have been doing exactly the same thing for years before DA2 came along. I'm looking at you, Liara T'soni.

Letting him or any of the others down doesn't cause him to verbally seize up for the entire rest of the game, either.

That alone makes DA2 character interaction 90000000x better than ME or ME2 in my eyes.
I can talk to people without wanting to bone them! B)

I really really like you and your opinion. :D

though I am one of those that would rather see Tali with Kal'Reegar or maybe even Veetor. My main Shep is with Tali, but if I had my way, I'd see her with Kal'Reegar.
It's kinda strange, but looking back I'd rather generally have the options to play cupid for others than to have Shepard romance everyone. So many characters that I did or will romance and enjoy doing so, but I'd like it even more if I could be the damn dirty shipper that I am.

Sometimes you can just fall for someone regardless of your sexual orientation, Shepard oozes power and sex appeal....I think both sexes would swoon over Shep...just saying...so the others characters don't have to be define as gay or bi, they just fall for Shep...it's that simple...happens to me all the time...lol!

Really??? One of Wynne's conversations is about your LI and how it probably won't work out then another one later down the line where she appologizes and supports it.  That is odd.  But you do get them for Zevran and Alistair?

Everyone gets the Wynne thing, but there's no party banter and no further comment on it.

There was a lot  more with my Lady Hawke/Merrill romance in DA2 (Isabela/Varric/Anders all commented on it in dialog and banter).

No clue about Zevran/Alistair.

Interesting because no one commented on my MaleHawke-Merril romance, except Anders when going underground during his quests to gather materials. And it was one little comment questioning rather she could ever care about Hawke more than the mirror. Of course Bodahn mentions her, but those are just "Mistress Merril's back in the alienage" comments related to Merril's occasional "conversation quest".

In real life, yeah I'd say that is pretty disgusting. But it's in the ME world, and in that world I don't find it offensive or anything. m/f alien sexual relationships already cannot produce offsprings, so I don't see why m/m or f/f alien relationships will be even further frowned upon because essentially they both cannot do what most people consider is the "purpose of life". (If you don't count asari, anyway.)

In ME, I actually prefer the aliens to the humans because I find them to have greater personalities. The male human LI options are just "boring" to me, and Vega probably won't make that different because he's just another alliance marine. Kelly's relationship was cute, even though it wasn't an established relationship. Ashley to me actually has character, we know she's religious and she's not too fond of aliens, unlike her male counter-part.

Those banters for the most part trigger regardless of Hawke's gender. If you're not getting them it's because you're not dragging around the right people or have the romance triggered at the right time.

Varric's supposed to mention her (outside of banter. THe latest patch restored a convo Varric has with Hawke about the LI)
Isabela mentions her (in conversation with Hawke)
Several banters mentino her (one (or several) with Izzy, One with Aveline, not sure about everyone else. Those are just the ones I've heard.)
I believe Hawke's mother mentions her (it might just be Fenris and Anders though..not sure)
Gamlen mentions her if you visit him in act 3.
Aveline will mention your romance during The Long Road if you ask her the right question. Edit: wrong quest name

What more do you want?

I tend to feel the same way, to be honest. But people really like the Garrus and Tali romances, so I wouldn't complain too much if they were opened up for s/s as well. I wouldn't explore them though.

Above all, I want HUMAN s/s LIs. Aliens are fine, and obviously we already have asari, but I prefer human characters as LIs in general, and that would extend to my gay Shepard. My lesbian Shepard is already with Liara, and I don't see that changing, but if an awesome female s/s LI was available, maybe my Soldier or Engineer would go for her, even though they've only slept with dudes so far. :wizard:
